I actually had to go and record this in-game because the track is played with extra sound effects.
I love the white desert, its so massive yet mysterious. Also like how 0 effects can be found there, its like a part of Madotuski's memories she's coming close to forgetting or accepting, but she's still forced to remember even tho it doesn't bring anything new and valuable to her life. Hence, no effects.
it's also really hard to reach, just like forgotten memories
this could also explain the lack of colour and unusual artstyle, like how when you see something in the corner of your eye, its just an abstract grey blob.
people believing the rape theory think about it as sperm.
I am not lying but there is one effect in white desert B called Oil effect. Basically it's like the 25th effect and it just makes you covered in oil, idk what will it actually do at the end, try it for yourself (just interact with the black stuff next to the eye thingy)
It sounds like a guy sneezing in a silent, lonely and distant place
Sounds like a guy with a runny nose and is sniffing the snot back into it
To me, it sounds like a man digging in an empty, lonely and silent place
To me it sounds like a steam train slowly starting up,
Pra mim é alguém acendendo um fósforo._.
sounds like someone's starting a fire
Sounds like someone is repeatedly lighting a match.
Or sneezing or something
I've always imagined it to be a sound of a footstep in sand/snow, just slowed down 200%
i think it's a digging sound, and someone burying a body.
@@Randomalistic yup, i hear digging too
The sound of kicking through sand with the sounds of a chiming bell in the backround.
Really eerie...
I think The White Desert scares me more than most other things in this game, even more than the Numbers World, Eyeball World, or even Hell. There’s something so horrifyingly sinister about the beings that live here as well as the practical lack of music other than what I can only describe as sharp breathing. Even the entrance into it is disturbing with its wide black smile. That is precisely why it’s one of my favorite locations. I love horror in all its forms.
That slap sound really scares me out everytime when i hear that
I think that sound is someone trying to start a fire
I still fully remember the first time I accidentally encountered Takofuusen. I left Yume Nikki running while I was in a Discord call with my friend. It was around midnight when I was playing another game with a friend since I tend to play 2 games at once, (even though I typically end up leaving one running while I play the other.) And then the Takofuusen event occured. I had no idea this event even existed in the game and it genuinely freaked me out.
When you hear your mom call your name from upstairs but when you're at her room's door your phone begins to ring and it's your mom telling you she's on her way home from work
my dude
Creepypasta time
WHAT
These strange sounds in the song are steps of that creature who called you.
This has happened on multiple occasions but with others too in our home, but the most notable ones were where twice it mimicked our moms voice calling one of us by our names to come to up into her room for “something”, both times we found out she wasn’t home.
this track is actually really unique compared to the other tracks in this game because that bell toll, for one, doesn't seem to play throughout the entire song, and when it does play it doesn't land at the same part per measure, like, it's following a different tempo
They're two sound effects playing in a sequence rather than an actual music track, iirc.
@@YuuyaKZMI interesting
@@anonymousanonymous8216 It's technically BGM that can be found in-game, but it's made differently.
One of the things that really gets to me is the white desert. It reminds me of old, vintage cartoons.
Also, I just realized this song is the sounds of treading through sand.
To lower the creepiness, the first SHH noise is a pitched down shaker percussion sound.
The bell sound is a sleigh bell that's pitched down by 3 octaves.
Fun tune to put on while exploring the SCP wiki
EverDownward oooh, you are right!
I'm normally one for commenting on Yume 2kki's soundtrack but I just have to gush over this one. It's just so perfect.
The White Desert and this soundtrack are both a huge departure from most of the colorful or dark areas in this game, or the droning and looping music that accompanies most of these areas. I think it's the only location in this game that legitimately lacks any trace of color, and the distant feeling that this song gives, especially when accompanied by the bell chime, amplifies that feeling tenfold. This is hands down my favorite area in the game, and it's truly unique from any other location I've seen in Yume Nikki.
This is, in my opinion, the creepiest BGM in the game.
Agree
The entire game is just eerie and this song represents it pretty well
I also find this song incredibly unsettling compared to any other song in the game. The context of the area you’re in, the NPC’s and events you encounter in it, and the lack of noises/instruments in the “music” makes me feel very empty and alone.
this and barracks settlement for me. they are the creepiest. the ending music is also creepy to me
@@migaloo364 it just feels creepy to me, idk
This is the bgm that brought me into this game. It's incredibly simple, but very effective at conveying the uneasiness permeating the whole desert.
Has anyone found confusing the fact that 2 of its 3 entrances are at the most remote areas in the game, but then one of them is accessible directly from a surface world (the blocky one I think)? I think it was put there as a placeholder
Fun fact: I first got there through the Block Worl, but the path was extremely complicated. I went to the Barracks Settlement, exited through the room with the eyed houses, ended up in the world with the tall paintings, found a path underground, got to the room with the big red head, entered its mouth and ended up in the Self-Ish room, found an exit to the Block World, found the entrance to White Desert
Am I crazy or did this soundtrack have a sort of bell sound after the first initial noise...? Or did I ju- 1:23 oh.
Nebbys it has lol
The cowbell was late for the song rehearsal
i know its been 5 years but this song is generated by the game on the fly by randomly playing the 2 sounds, which are two separate audio files. the person who recorded it for this video just got really unlucky
The white desert looks like a Picasso paint
This entire game looks like Picasso painted it,
Except for most of the humans.
And Madotsuki's,
That place, too.
This is the kind of music that should play when you start seeing things that aren't really there.
Basically the kind of music for when you start going insane, usually from lack of sleep or something 😁
It sounds like someone slowly walking through the desert and dragging something with them..
what makes it less creepier is the fact its literally just a disorted sneeze
Why do i love this soundtrack so much?...
Imagine you leave your house to run an errand and you turn all the lights off and close all the doors.
When you get back, nothing is off, other than the lights all being on and the doors being opened.
I hate playing this game at night. Makes me paranoid because of the music.
this place is one of my favorites...the cartoon like characters...and the form of the world itself...
It's like digging a desert's worth of sand
So many creepy events here!
The white desert. Devoided of colors....except red...representing blood and fire. For me, the white desert portrays all of Madotsuki's fears... And the tragedies that happened in her life.
What does SYA stand for?
(Edit: Kind of found it out. The "Ch" sound's file name is SYA and located in the music files. The bell is called SUZU and located in the sound files.)
(Edit #2: SYA, when translated to Japanese, is "Mono" as in Monochrome. SUZU translates to bell.)
Mono as in how the desert is black and white and bell like in the song, HA, Amiright B)
It sounds like someone is digging with a shovel
When you hear someone’s footsteps but…you realize you’re home alone:
Sweet Loneliness
the "voids" between the weird quick sounds give me so much anxiety
Is it weird I find this very relaxing?
:)
*disappears*
It's like being stared down by something 10 miles from you in an open void knowing there's nothing you can do to escape
It sounds like a man digging in an empty, distant and silent place
So like, according to the light novel, this is supposed to be comic page flipping sound.
It sounds like someone shaking a matchbox and hitting a metal pipe.
No one hears you.
The Dave Spectors always freaked me out.
Dave Spector is pretty Picasso-ish :)
He can moonwalk like a boss though
it's been 9 months since anyone commented. consider me Birthed
i love the white desert
The bell at 1:23 makes it more unsettling
It sounds like someone sweeping and crashing a plate. Stuff in the kitchen
Doesn't this also play in the world when you touch Uboa?
Yes
Ty Ger Am I the only one who was scared by the world more?
Alessa Hollingsworth kinda creeps me out too...thats why its my fave
Mephicus TOKI WO TOMARE!!
WHY would you want to touch Uboa????
A mad worker digging into the sand with a shovel for eternity
I got to the white desert on my first playthrough, completely blind. It was also through the white desert B route, which is the deepest location in the game and requires you to navigate through the famicom dungeon. It was climactic to say the least.
Takofuusen wants to appear
*DOPODOPODOPODOPODOPODOPODOPODOPODOPODOPO*
in "oOoOO - without your love" at around 16:33 you can hear the sound of this ost
Jesus. Glad I stumbled upon that.
this sounds like someone who's very lazy while sweeping the floor
Sounds like paper being ripped
Alone and lost.
Its sounds like if youre walking in a dark place with no ending then you hear this noise
Someone get this man a tissue!
sounds like someone starting matches
Whooshing Sound = Monoe Stare
Bell Noise = Monoko Transformation
When I increase the volume on my headphones, I hear a car siren.
is it just me or does the background fade/blur out on this video and suddenly go sharper when the shifting sand noise is heard?? it's unsettling but i might be seeing things
aterack833 just a placebo
It’s sounds like someone digging…..and the bell rings as he digs
Shoveling.
digging a grave...?
When you’re in the white desert in Egypt
I’m not here to comment on the music (?) but i saw 68 comments and took that opportunity :)
This song makes me cry for some reason, not like sadness or anything, just tears, the only other song that has the same effect on me is that Deirdre song from Earthbound
The room I arrived to is all white, the floor is grey, there is no end to this room, I tried to make a sound but it echoed so far away it's almost infinite. I've noticed that the ground is edible, this is my only food source before I die in this place.
Eat the floor bro😭
THAT FRICKIN' ELEPHANT!!!!!
@Daniel Samolewicz one deformed twin
this is my favorite area in the game

bless you
i like this
i... swear i've heard this before. some other game used this soundtrack, i forget what though
It sounds like someone trying to breath
I like this area, but I hate how difficult it is to get here. I can never find the Hat and Scarf girl in the Block World that takes you to the entrance to this place.
I really like this song…if it had THE BELLS.
It does, They start around the 1:20 mark
My favorite area
i like to imagine it’s a machine gun being fired at a metal target, recorded in slow motion
White Desert 90% of the time: omg scary, girl with many aerms, Monoe looks at me scary, this is so desolate and sad oh no :C
White Desert when the funky octopus balloon passes by: OMG TAKOFUUSEN HI HI OMG
This is like the first 4 minutes of Frances the Mute by Mars Volta.
I find it funny how this area is when it comes to graphics the most easiest to draw, however the artstyle of this one creeps me out the most. Am just a fan of monochrome with bright red indicating blood. And also that flying heads event is disturbing as shit.
my dog sneezing in the middle of the night
Kinda sounds like someone repeatlly lighting a match
im listening to this song with one headphone and its very lonely
*drags carpet*
//RINGING//
Oooohhhhhh uboa wants madotsuki to be punished to get in here.........
i love u takofuusen
Someone's Callin' Says
PSST!! Or WSSST!!
There's a bell?
But it's only sometimes there and kind of desynchronized.
It's because White Desert is actually a sequence of two sound effects, not an actual music track per se.
It's music in the game, but it's two sound effects being played in a sequence.
An interesing place
Hi monoe
!
This sounds like hallway
uboa?
Sounds like Kurtis Conner doing his "folks" thing
this place is the creepiest in the game imo. it's just so... silent. still. i don't like it
Mind if I ask what do you think about Jesus?
It sounds like when you rip off flex tape quick and fast.
о да мое любимое
This is just a rake
151
It sounds pretty boring without these "cowbell" sounds while madotsuki walks
Yea
why is monoe sniffing us??????
:)
I guess you could say this tracks sounds a little OFF, eh?
Is it weird I find this very relaxing?
Ur not the only one
