    A few videos ago, there were some fish in the tank. What happened? Or are the videos not in order?

    When you net fish, I'd recommend doing them one at a time. The rabbitfish have venomous spines, and the tangs have spines near their tail-fins. Under the stress of being captured, they might injure any other fish in the net with them.

    U should of hooked up the UV sterilizer first before adding coral and turned on Lights. That’s the way always worked for me no algae just some diatoms for a week

  • @robertjones9067

    Interesting approach. I would think you’d want fish first and no lighting to get your bio filtration going. You can keep the lights off to avoid algae. I’m no expert, but intuitively I’d add corals only after the lights are on with no algae issues. You’ve got an easy blackout option that way.

    Ugly phase no big deal. The majority of us go through it. Not sure of the logic behind feeding a tank with no fish and so little coral though. Just asking for trouble if you ask me.

    Algae comes from excess nutrients > fish eat algae > fish produce waste > waste produces excess nutrients. Not sure why you wouldn't start the algae reactor when the fish went in because you're still gonna have nutrient export issues and now you've added something that will fuel the algae growth even if it periodically eats it.

    Good vid , I am also interested in the Tang Results . I have a Tomani, a Purple Tank and a Fox Face, I am unsure of their effectiveness since there is no algae in my tank, they do swim around pecking at the rocks which gives me the impression they are doing something. The one I do not recommend, or maybe you would like to get one to see if he's effective against algae is the Lawnmore Blenny! I have one and if its not Nori, he's not eating it! Keep up the good work, love your videos and hopefully you had enough comments to make the "poor-man's mixing station"! I personally am waiting for that video!

  • @Rob_8529
    @Rob_8529 3 роки тому +6

    Wait, I’m confused, like you said, u have the pax bellum, UV. Etc. so why wait until you have a massive nutrient problem before implementing them? Had you been testing your Nitrates/Phosphates you would have known a problem was likely and started to address it. This is Dumb. If your gonna come onto youtube and try to help and teach people, then you should show them the right way. I mean didn’t you give your fish a disease in QT Because of high nitrates? Now hair algea because of high Nitrates. BUY A NITRATE TEST KIT BRO. and don’t be lazy and actually test. Not once in this video did you address the nutrients. I don’t feel bad about criticizing you right now because your the one that chose to upload to UA-cam, when clearly you don’t even follow your tanks perimeters.

      There is no harm in doing things slow and taking time. That's up to the individual, what if he is trying to mature his tank and do it naturally? . GHA at the beginning ain't a bad thing, it is normal. Just relax man and see this channel as anotjer reefer showing his methods.
      People forget we are getting this for free. And the fact we have so many different reefers and methods at our hand is all part of the learning experience. Let's wait and see right?

    • @Rob_8529
      @Rob_8529 3 роки тому +3

      @@rudra7615 my problem isn’t just with this 1 video, my problem is he’s promoting not testing your water, waiting for a problem to occur before addressing it. Then posting it to UA-cam trying to act like a professional, his methods are completely wrong. Luckily I’m not new and I can see this, but if someone just starting out, took any tips from this guy, there going to have a horrible experience. You wouldn’t wait until you ran out of gas before going to the gas station would you? It’s like oh the fuel gauge says I’m on empty, but the car is still running soo I guess I’ll just wait... that’s Dumb...and so isn’t this video

    • @Rob_8529
      @Rob_8529 3 роки тому +2

      Not to mention the fact that he is claiming his tank to be empty until now, right, cause he did that whole adding the fish clip, well...in all of my experience a empty tank set up with RODI water, no live pets, def does not grow hair algea, that’s impossible. So was he feeding an empty tank? There’s something missing here. He thinks we’re not going to notice.

    • @rudra7615
      @rudra7615 3 роки тому

      @@Rob_8529 but don't you think, anyone watching the video will get that, he has mentioned he didn't turn the algae reactor on (which he does say would've out competed the algae in the tank) and he does say towards the end he is doing this to see how effective the tangs will be now? I feel like it is self explanatory. On top of that, the dude explained his nitrate spike could be due to the auto feeder and newborn events that happened in his life.
      I dunno man, I don't think anything is done on purpose and newbies to this game would never just do reef from a single youtuber, that is just dumb

  • @umar

    Congratulations
    Probably too much light with nutrients in the water column are possible cause of this algae. You need to run Phosphate reactor and probably i just saw you use carbon before the pump..(Watching along on TV) It will not be as helpful as a dual reactor from BRS for Carbon and Phosphate. The dual reactor would be more efficient for a longer period of time. Your lucky its not getting thrown onto the glass yet.. Because of the flow pump Otherwise you could have a hairy inside glass panel.. by now...
    Looking forward to see the progress of the tank and its species.. 👍🏽

    Congrats on the baby! This is natural and expected. The pax should take care of this no problem as long as you are able to get the Chaeto to grow and not melt away. I had a pretty severe case of algae after a bunch of snails died. I implemented a Clearwater ATS and once it took off problems are at bay.

    Sorry to see you getting hate in the comments. For a fairly new Reefer, you are doing a great job explaining your methods. Even though some of the methods maybe a bit overkill, like you said it makes you happy and that's what matters. Your first reef tank was stunning and quite the accomplishment for a first timer in the hobby. I doubt the haters have Reefs even close to looking like the JBJ. I have no doubt this tank will be a work of art. Keep doing your thing. Not easy to put out the content like you do. It's ok to change methods and techniques and try new things. That's what helps us grow in the hobby. 👍

    • @kevinw7044
      @kevinw7044 3 роки тому

      Hate? That’s a bit strong 😀 I guess the days of being able to provide critical observations are over now and we must accept everything that social media presents to us? Funnily enough, I recently saw another UA-cam reefer stating that Copperband Butterfly fish are a simple fish to keep. I commented otherwise. His fish was dead soon after my comment although the UA-camr seemed reluctant to say so. Should I just have accepted the UA-cam video as fact in respect of the Copperband? The Copperband video is still available to view telling the world that these are simple and easy fish to keep and contributing towards the UA-camrs income. UA-camrs may not want critical feedback but such feedback is often necessary to bring balance and is of course completely different to the hate that you refer to which no one should receive. You are right, my current reef system does not come close to this channels former JBJ setup as you state. But, I have a young aquarium which will look equal to the JBJ and hopefully even better. Just a matter of time. Comparisons like this are not often useful. 👍🏻 Your reef looks very nice by the way.

    I generally like this guys content, just a couple issues. I don't really think you should be adding that much food with no fish, little coral and no cheato. Also you should not be moving your fish so many times from quarantine to main display so rapidly. He did that in one of his other tanks and literally killed them all. Too stressful bro. I'm prolly too bold for saying this but find a lfs you trust and cross the velvet or ick issues if and when the arise. JMO

      Thank you very much for the support, completely my fault for not elaborating in more detail. The first bucket which was half quarantine water the other half was tank water actually took over a full hour to bring them up to salinity the following buckets really didn’t matter as far as time because the fish had already been acclimated to that water. I’ll be sure to elaborate a little bit more in the next video on this thanks for bringing it up.
