- After much waiting with the box of hitch parts on the shelf, we finally got around to installing the Ruegg Category 1 3-point hitch on the John Deere 430 garden tractor. We realize that we need more weight to do the things we have planned ahead.
Thanks for the video. I don’t think I could of installed mine without you taking time to do this!
You're very welcome! Let me ask, where did you get your replacement head?

Thank you so much for posting this video. I studied it putting the 3pt hitch on my 420 jd tractor 🚜!! Again thanks 😊
You're welcome! Good luck on that install if you haven't already finished it. The 420 is a tpugh-looking, big machine as well

Real nice job on this video. Very helpful!
Thanks! Watch the other video "we have to fix this now" where I fixed a mistake I made in the 3 pt hitch install. It moves a lot farther down.

Quick tip when installing rock shaft without a second set of hands. After placing the two piece bearings on the rock shaft, wrap a small zip tie around the outside ends. Once the bearings are slid into place, snip the ties and insert the two bolt bearing retainers.
Nice tip! That makes a lot of sense.
Thanks for contributing!
Great Video will make installing are 3 point alot easier Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Glad to offer any help I can through my successes and mistakes. If you haven't watched it already, be sure to watch the "WE NEED TO FIX THIS NOW" video. It covers an oversight I made in the install. Also check the comments out for that video because some commenters made some points that might save some time too.
I am installing what I think is the exact same hitch on my 420. Only problem I had is the 3rd bolt underneath which they supplied is a 5/8" and for some reason, my '86 420 takes a 9/16" which is an unusual size. I did find them at Ace Hardware for $1.75 each. They were about $20 each on Amazon.
I hadn't heard that about the 420 (very nice tractor btw). Gotta love the local hardware store for those odd one off parts and pieces that you don't want to buy a whole box of.

Часто деваюсь ваши видио ви маладець👌
To me it doesn't look like it has a lot of travel but either does the mower deck I guess. Very helpful though and looking to installing one on my 455
Thanks for the comment. Check out the "we have to fix this now" video I did where I fixed that exact issue. It definitely didn't have much range of motion until I did the fix in that video.
I looked on the site - do you happen to know the difference between the 318 cat0/1 and there “Original 318 kit”?
It's hard to be sure but assuming it's not an OEM kit, then I would think "the original" is a remake based on the original. The only noticeable difference I see is the way the linkage between the rock shaft and the lower lift arms connects. My newer 430 kits links look like tie rod ends.
I just got my second 300 series JD. I now own a 316 and a 318. 316 has a single stage snow blower and the 318 has the 2 stage. I have wheel weights on both but still think they need more rear weight. I have been looking at the Ruegg 3 point for the 318 as it has the heaviest blower. Do you know if standard full size cat 1 implements will fit on the JD with the Ruegg installed. I already have the 3 point trailer hitch attachment and would like to use it on the JD. Great video.
It should. I was gifted a cat 1 quick hitch which spreads the lower link arms and the top link quite a bit more than my weight/receiver hitch. So as far as will it geometrically fit, I would say yes. As far as will it effectively lift a full size cat 1 implement remains to be seen. Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to do some of that as implements are purchased.

They should make a 3pt for the Toro 5xi tractors.
I thought the same for my Husqvarna GT but I'm pretty sure the frame is not up to par as it is.

I’ve read about the Husqvarna tractor frames cracking from using the Sears front scoop attachments.

Rear pto must be removed as well
I dont have one of those on my 430. Please elaborate, can you not have a rear pto and this 3 pt hitch?

i wish i had that money to get 1 i can only bulit 1
If you can build one, it's just as good! My guess is that the lift capacity of the cylinder.would be reached before your metalwork would fail. That's a valuable skill to have.

How hard was it to build?
