In only a few years, Detroit’s Danny Brown has gone from underground oddity to towering rap star, releasing three critically acclaimed albums and charming fans worldwide. Covering topics such as poverty, sex, drug addiction, depression and ageing, to listen to Brown’s music is to get a raw look into his personal life.
In this public conversation with journalist Hattie Collins as part of the 2015 Red Bull Music Academy UK Tour, Brown opened up about growing up a nerd in a tough inner-city, creative responsibility, writing a children’s book and wanting to be the Trent Reznor of rap.

Few people can put emotion into their music like this man can. 30 influenced me so much and I damn near cry every time I hear it cus u can just feel the strife in his voice. I put that song in my top 5 all time in my college music class. Love it

One time about 3 years ago I was at an after hours in Detroit and Danny Brown was sitting at the nitrous bar by himself just chillin, I was wandering around kinda fucked up, I looked at him and he smiled at me, I knew who he was so I went over and said thank you for the music man. We sat for a quick sec and talked and he told me about some upcoming projects and thanked me for listening. He is a genuinely cool guy who appreciates his fans and it really comes through in this video which is for me, a continuation of when I met him. More artists with his attitude should get shine and I agree with some people below that he does look healthy and happy

The lady does a good job interviewing Danny. Stop the nagging. The fact that she's a white middle aged woman makes it even cooler. She gives him space to talk and ramble and asks decent questions. What else do you want?
