It's all about how they're handled. If you go in and grab them behind the neck, they think of you like a predator, but if you're careful with them and treat them respectfully, they relax very quickly.

I live the different vine snakes! I'm really thinking of getting an Asian Vine Snake. I'm waiting til o get my bird room finished and then I can work on getting the proper enclosure and everything else before I purchase the animal. I have been researching them for about a year as they are a new species for me to have.
Big fan of the channel. I've learned so much. I'm having trouble with feeding my 2 ball pythons. The distributor was feeding them live mice, but there's nowhere around me that I can buy live. I've tried frozen/thawed, but they won't eat those. I've done assist feeding once, and I never want to do that again. How do I feed my girls? They're still under a year old. Help.
Yes, I would agree that you don't want to assist feed those snakes. I have several videos on feeding and getting snakes back on food that will help you. But you may need to travel somewhere to get some live mice just to get them going on one or two meals before switching them to frozen thawed.
@@GreenRoomPythons thanks for getting back to me. I'm looking all over the Chicago area where I live, and I can't find 1 place that sells live feeder mice. Google keeps sending me to Petsmart and Petco, but they don't do live feeders there. I've only had the girls for 3 weeks, but they do everything except eat. They'll wrap up in my hand and let me rub their chins or heads. I've tried to use the blow dryer trick to heat the mice, but they refuse. I wish that there was a mom and pop reptile store near me, but Chicago only hosts the monopoly companies near me.
@danielprice2743 I wouldn't handle them at all until they have eaten for you. It's great that you live in the Chicago area because there are plenty of rodent breeders you should be able to find if you do a search. There are probably also reptile specific pet stores in the Chicago area who sell feeder mice and rats
@@GreenRoomPythons honestly I've looked. I've ran Google search after Google search and I just get the bigger, more popular stores. I'm a nitwit when it comes to computer stuff, so I even had my fiance look up smaller stores that sell the feeder mice. Even she was unsuccessful. I have the temps in the enclosures correct like I learned from your video. I also only handle them 20 minutes a day to get used to me. I'm definitely not giving up on my search. I want to feed my ladies so they grow big and strong. They've helped me with my anxiety and depression, so I owe them a good life. Thank you for your help. I haven't given up. Your videos definitely helped me learn how to properly take care of them. I'll stop handling them until I can finally get them fed. Thanks again
Yes but I believe the BC and BI are much closer related to one another than the northern and southern anacondas are related to each other. It will be interesting to see what happens as they study it more
Hey I have a question I recently took my snake into the vet because of a incident and one topic she brought up was the dangers of stack breeding (breeding multiple morphs into one) and how as the same as the American small bully on how they are breed so many times to look a certain way and then the snake, dog ends up having health issues due to all the things the animal is mixed with what are you’re thoughts on this subject?
A paper recently came out and disproved this. There's still only one species of green anaconda and its Eunectes murinus gigas. No more northern and southern species.
Can you send me the article you saw? It would take some time, I think, to back out the new phylogenetic classification but I'm interested to see if the new species genetics is being challenged for some reason... EDIT: I just did a quick search and it looks like there are a couple of papers that are challenging the original paper, but nothing that has caused another reclassification. Whenever a scientific paper comes out like this, there are always papers that challenge - but let me know what you found specifically
That challenge you are referring to is part of the peer review process, and it's how science works. Anytime a paper is written reclassifying an organism, it must be faced with staunch criticism and if it survives that criticism, it is thus accepted as fact. That process can take years sometimes, so no, this has not been disproved. Even if a paper(s) calling for it to be disproved comes out, that paper will need to face the same peer criticisms as the original paper before it is accepted. As it stands right now, the northern and southern green anaconda remain as the paper states; two distinct species.
So, I'm glad you're both answering this. I'm at 11:50 so maybe you answer it later, but if they look EXACTLY the same, how do you know which one you have? And do their habitats overlap?
@suran396 their habitats overlap in French Guiana but it's only the Northerns that are in Suriname so if we catch an anaconda in Suriname it's the new species :-)
not gonna lie if I heard the was an anaconda in the water I would be trying to catch it before anyone had time to blink, like most people watching I bet.
I don’t know if I agree with this reclassification. I understand that they were separated from the rest of murinus long ago and have gone through a lot of mutations since but they look identical, act identical and would produce identical, reproductive offspring if crossed. I think we need a better, more comprehensive definition of species. What you are saying about them being unable to interbreed is not correct. Actually, you can breed an anaconda to a boa constrictor. It’s been done. Also, we are not 2% different from chimps. The 2% number is antiquated. I think I remember reading a recent study that said 40% but don’t hold me to that. Recent in this case means I read the study at least five years ago.
Yes, the large one they were swimming with was found dead. The rumor is that it had been shot, although that hasn't been confirmed yet... really sad news either way though

@@GreenRoomPythons Thanks so much! And what is the title of Dāv's video? I want to see more of that little anaconda!
How do you know that's the new species? Are all from Surinam the species? Is that how you j is?
Yes, all the anacondas in Suriname are the Northern species
not gonna lie if I heard the was an anaconda in the water I would be trying to catch it before anyone had time to blink, like most people watching I bet.
Yes, it's pretty fun to find one
Not herperness..herpetude
Yes!
I just read that the new species they discovered was found dead last week 😞
Yes, the large one they were swimming with was found dead. The rumor is that it had been shot, although that hasn't been confirmed yet... really sad news either way though
Oh yeah!? For reals!? Didja call it the April Fool's snake!?
EDIT: Jumped the gun. It's not a prank.
Way to prove you didn't watch the vid and just wanted first comment. Lol
Well, it's certain that nobody is going to trick you with an April fools joke!... But you should check out the video, it's pretty interesting.
@@Armiyana Honestly the Thumbnail gave all the impressions of this being an April fool's prank - and I've not given the time to other videos which have been doing the same - given that (and my baseline cynicism) I wouldn't have watched the video out of protest.
Clearly I've made a miscalculation - and I apologise.
@@GreenRoomPythons Okay, chief. Sorry to have jumped the gun.
The April Fool's videos have been thick and fast today. Sorry to have got your video caught in the crossfire.
@@hyperdragon001 no worries, it definitely looks like an April Fool's joke. I posted it on my Facebook page and made a point about letting people know it's not a joke 😅
