  • What is actually a payload increase? That's exactly what we would like to explain to you in a simple and understandable way in our video.
It is not that complicated. Depending on the type of vehicle, the permissible total weight and/or the axle loads of a motorhome, van or commercial vehicle can be increased by installing additional or reinforced springs and, if necessary, changing the wheel-tyre combination.
In our workshops - the Goldschmitt Technik-Centers - we experience almost daily how the analysis of the actual vehicle weight causes many a customer's features to slip. If the actually determined vehicle weight exceeds the maximum permissible total vehicle weight, you can either drain fresh water and reduce luggage and camping accessories or - depending on the vehicle type - increase the permissible total vehicle weight or the axle loads of your motorhome by adding weight.
However, special regulations, such as driving licences, drive-through-, parking- and overtaking bans, as well as speed limits, must be observed for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes with a higher load. You can find more information at www.goldschmit....

I have a question: I have a 2020 Hymer camper van on a Fiat Ducato chassis. Last year I fitted Schraubenfedern "GOLDSCHMITT Rear coil springs" - I'm currently only allowed to drive 3.5T here in Germany, if the German government changes the law to allow 4.25 Ton on a category B licence do I need to do anything to my Ducato to upgrate the max weight? Versione states "C" which means I have a Light Chassis and the vehicle can be increased to 4,090 kg. Having fitted GOLDSCHMITT Rear coil springs I'm assuming only the paper work for the vehicle has to be changed? is this correct.

If you have a "35-Light-Chassis", you can raise the permissible total weight to a maximum of 3,850 kg with a spring reinforcement only on the rear axle - in your case by the additional coil spring. For 4,000 kg permissible total weight, you must also carry out a spring reinforcement on the front axle. Please note that the wheels must also have a corresponding load capacity. Regarding your actual question: If you want to load up with Goldschmitt components already installed, you will need a load increase certificate, which you can purchase from us. You are welcome to send us an e-mail at info@goldschmitt.de. Please also send a photo of your vehicle registration document.

@@goldschmitt_de Thank you for the reply - I have sent an email with regards to my question. The springs where fitted by a garage last year and the information documented in the "Fahrzeugschein" by a local TUV person. At the moment I'm a B Cat licence holder but hoping Germany change the law!! Do I still need the Load Increase certificate? Didn't something already come with the springs?

@@GingerPhotographer The installation of additional or reinforced springs and their registration in the vehicle documents is one thing, a weight increase is another. A load increase must always be considered separately and also approved by the TÜV (and entered in the vehicle documents). For this purpose, a separate weight-lifting certificate is required, which is not automatically supplied with our products. Our products usually come with a so-called parts certificate, which is required for registration in the vehicle documents. It lists, for example, requirements, instructions, part numbers, etc. However, this certificate has nothing to do with a weight increase.

@@goldschmitt_de Ah ok, now I understand. Price for a weight-lifting certificate is? I have already sent an email in English so maybe we can discuss further via email.
