what a flood of emotions you clearly just had.looked liked your entire time at cove came rushing back in.i bet tossing that fish back and memories of being so hungry during your time there probably brought back 'survival feelings'. glad you got to go back and thanks for filming this series and thanks for sharing.

Fantastic that you can take us back to live your memories of the Alone adventure that you had. Really interesting as you can show us your tasks without editing the information. Well done Sir.

You are the man! Way to represent the state of Michigan! Loved it every time you said “Yes!” When you caught a fish!! Great job

That fish looked like it was half asleep lol. Didnt look like a hard striker. What a great place though. Beautiful fishing grounds 🙂. You're a lucky man for sure. Great spot

It's double awsome to catch a fish when you really need it, and you can then reclaim the bait for another catch! Freshwater leeches are tougher than leather! I have caught more than 20 fish on a single leech.

The limpets lasted a long time for bait. Usually in a ny one day I go through five or six of them. I tried other baits but ended up settling on limpets almost exclusively. It was a mistake to take all the same size hooks. I should have had an assortment and at least one huge halibiut hook to turn into a gaff for snagging crabs. Live and learn.

Thanks for returning to my channel. I hope to have more content up on a regular basis. I have many friends in Brazil where I lived for 15 years. They complain that I don't upload enough videos in Portuguese. Many people think that the subtitles are an automatic feature but I have to do all the translation and uploading myself. Whenever I upload in Portuguese I try to include English subtitles because it is far easier for me to translate from my second language (Portuguese) to my first language (English).

Colhane - Dave McIntyre As a non native English speaker let me say 'thank you', for taking the time to make your content accessible to people speaking 'only' another language.
I'm lucky enough to speak English, but have appreciated the subtitles on Japanese and Russion videos!

Great video. Did in miss the video of you getting a bowdrill fire out of that Cedar?

No, that wood was nearly saturated, way to wet to attempt a coal. I was making that to take home with me and use when teaching.

Colhane - Dave McIntyre Oh okay. I was hoping to see if Cedar worked. It's not like I'll die if I don't though:)
These are great videos. Thanks for teaching us so much:)

How satisfying was that? To throw it back? Way cool Dave!

It felt so good to catch that fish. It was actually a good size too, normally they were about 20% smaller. Two such fish would have been a good meal boiled up with a little seawater for flavor and a generous portion of fire dried Bull Kelp fronds. My best meal was when also caught a few Northern Kelp Crabs in addition to the fish. That gave the broth a sweet flavor and also turned it pink. I'd eat the crabs as an appetizer as the stew cooled. Nothing beats the feeling of fasting for 24 hours and going to bed with a full belly.

Thanks. My kids were confident in me too. It always looked sort of precarious while I was out there. That second month, I knew I was in a stable situation but it was never easy, just repeatable.

Colhane - Dave McIntyre I bet it did! A special feeling when you can throw it back. Catch and release means something completely different once you have depended on your skills to eat.
