What an opportunity to find those historic and special items. I agree 100% that cordage is so essential for life in the bush, and my weakest skill! Thanks Dave for continuing to teach and reinforce these super important points!

I was just skimming through videos and didn't even realize you were on Alone until after you had already won haha. Congrats :). I was first introduced to your videos when I was trying to find the best way to prepare a knot for hammock camping. Thanks btw, worked great.

Terrific video Bro.. People have no clue how important it is to have this skill set in their head! I remember when I used to sit in Burger King and practice making yards of cordage out of napkins when I was first learning. People thought I was nuts.. LOL! But it taught me an invaluable skill that I will always carry with me!

I used to harvest yucca fiber from ornamental plants downtown and get strange looks in the dentist waiting room.

Cordage is useful stuff, thanks for sharing this video. I make my own Flemish twist bowstrings so I'm familiar with the skill.

A bowstring is a true test of the skill. You've got skin in the game every time you draw a bowstring.

Those are some great insights about your time there. Thanks for putting them all in a video. I wish more of that sort of thing made it to the show... 👍🏻. Well done.

Haha met you at Founder's in Grand Rapids and you told me about your dogbane cordage, and now another video on cordage - you really have a thing for cords man. Inspiring story you told that night, and seriously encouraging, thanks.

I shot this as an intro to the second part of the Dogbane series but I had too much material so I put it up as a stand alone video. Founder's was a good night.

I am also a compulsive cordage creator.... my husband thinks I'm nuts,
because he's always finding bits and pieces of different material all
over the house. (He can thank our 2 kittens for that!)

When I'm in the woods I always twist samples of every fiber or bark I find.

I'm thinking if Joe from your season is watching this he's kicking himself and thinking, "He used the ribbon to make that visible!? Why didn't I do that with my ferro rod?"

The first step to getting better is admitting that you have a problem, LOL! I too make cordage compulsively. Drives my wife nuts! Great video and it had to be so cool to find your gear still there like that. Hope you and yours are well.
