I just watched all of the seasons. You were my favorite winner and the most deserving. You adapted and learned from your mistakes and failures, and never gave up.
Very cool- thanks for sharing your return! What a joy to see that place again I bet. And to discover things left behind- Awesome! I'm sure it was surreal to visit in a different state of mind. I loved it when you said it was like visiting a place you lived as a kid. I hope I'll get to visit our location some day too. :) Cheers
You’re the man. I just finished watching the season and was really hoping you’d win it. You seem like a really great guy. I’m happy for you, Dave. I’m late but congrats!
Loved winners of S1 and S2. Positive men, beautiful hearts. The way they handled the isolation is helping me handle my isolation during this pandemic. One day at a time...stay in the NOW. Stay safe, stay in the game.
There is no place more beautiful than British Columbia, land of my birth. Lots if places as nice, but none more so. I'm pleased that you were able to experience it.
This was the best season and I’m so glad Dave won! I can’t say enough good things about this man ❤️👍 this is proof that 50 plus is mentally what it takes to keep going and above all God and the love for his kids. This great man was such a inspiration it would be awesome if they could make a movie about his adventure! The meaning of a loving father!
I think it is awesome that you went back and were able to experience the feeling of revisiting your old home. I like how you compared it to going back to a place you grew up. Thank you for sharing Dave! - Jeremy
A video with almost 4 years, but I´m happy watching your return to a place so rough but so significant for you, Dave. Hope you´re fine and the family aswell.
Wow, This is strange. Just last night I re-watched the final episode of season 2 and here you are today revisiting the ol homestead. Congrats again on hanging in there for a great finish.
Classic Vancouver Island terrain. My back yard and I get to wander through and explore that every day. I've done a lot of that in the coves around Port Alice and Coal Harbour, either side of Quatsino. In the Spring, the salmon berries would be appearing soon, plus nettles, horsetail, dandelions, and elder flower, etc., Later fireweed, oxeye daisies, huckleberries, thimbleberries, trailing blackberry, serviceberry, and black cap raspberry, plus a host of greedn edibles and medicinals. But when I'm alone, I'm really alone and have zero back-up and certainly no boat or chopper a few hundred yards away on the other end of a sat phone call. That said, just being out there for as long as you were was a great feat of endurance and having to film it all would be a major PITA (for me at least). Hats of to you.
Albert, It really is a great location. That was the first time I had ever set foot on that coast so it took a little time to pattern things and understand the place. My background is in Easter Woodlands and Central Brazilian jungle, savannah, and alpine ecosystems. It was quite the learning curve. There are loads of food resources there, experience witht hem previously is a great help. For me it was a crash course.
This is incredible. Just stumbled upon this now with Season 7 going on and my Alone fever on a high once again. Had to watch the clip when you got to know you won also, Dave. 😀
It's good that you got to go back for some closure because when the show ended you were litterly wisked out of there. I remember when you first started this channel, IMO... You haven't changed over the years 😉 I wish you luck in the future 😉 just keep being you 😊
When you have your very basic needs met. (Food, shelter and clothing.) Living one day at a time and being in the moment with no other responsibilities. Then you can find true peace. Sounds like you needed to recharge your battery. Finding evidence of your experience confirms that it was not a dream. Thank You for sharing this very personal moment. It helps me find my own sanity
Thanks for giving ALL of us (who didn't even know about the show) a personal retrospective! I just found Fowler before your channel and I have to say you both have a good bit of mental strength and 'makery' know-how to share with far more of us who were not interested in the 'Reality TV' production 'phony' plot twists. Survival should be about 'keeping it real.'
Awesome video ! Really enjoyed watching you go back to the place that we watched so many intense moments of your stay there. Thanks for sharing this,Dave! ~Jon
this is fascinating. surprising they left so much behind. I'd figure they'd leave no trace. real cool find!! I'm happy for you!!!!! memories man!!!! cheers!
The only things left behind were random beach debris that had washed up there and basically in the same place, totally in character with the rest of the shoreline. Everything I had built in camp was removed. The only reason I found anything was that I knew where to look and what to look for.
Kurt Baier same , when I heard his name as one of The contestants I knew he was going to take it, and when he did I got to tell everybody I told you so ...
I'd like to visit Desolation Cove. I've been to Vancouver Island a 1/2 dozen times, but never went out that remote. Congrats, 3 years late, but I just watched the show.
Bacana. Pena mesmo que não foi exibio no Brasil. Gostaria muito de ter assistido a segunda temporada com a vitória do Dave McIntyre. O lugar parece ser sensacional.
Hi Dave. Just watched Alone S2. Your resilience and humor really stood out. And that moment at the end when you first saw your daughter was magic. Awesome effort! I have a question - were there any rules about the extent of construction you were allowed to do? eg. pathways, buildings, tree-felling etc? (Assuming I had the energy to do so, I'd have been tempted to keep busy with projects like that).
So glad I made the trip back to the island to visit my site. I will always have a deep connection to that cove and the intense two months that I made it my home. It was gret to enjoy the island without all the pain of solo survival.
Just finished season 2. Absolutely stoked for you. You're courage and attitude were inspirational. Also Larry had an anger problem and no way did we want him to win..
PS:Sorry, I´m not speak Ingles!!!
I used the ring and bar on the other end to prop up my cooking pot in the fire. The chain was coiled around the outside and got red hot in the fire. It radiated alot of heat.
@@Colhane thank you! It was awesome you got to go back. What do you think of this season? Think we are lucky to have Alone this year. Best to you and your family.
@@gre8 A machete would have been useful for getting through the thick Salal and into the next cove over. I don't think it would have altered the outcome.
If you had not known where my shelter was you never would have spotted it. They did clean up. That they missed that old rope hidden in a hole at my temporary camp is no fault of theirs. As for things that floated up on the beach still being there, the entire coastline looks like that.
I love the show, but noticed they do leave stuff behind that can hurt, maim, kill, entangle animals that weren't naturally there like rope, netting, tarps, hooks. NOT cool! You would think these people would have a deep respect for nature, but no all they care about is THE MONEY!
I completely agree , why on earth didn’t they clean up after them , everyone is so full of how cool he is , but would would he say if he saw someone dumping that crap outside his house ? With the half a million he should organise a complete beach clean, true outdoors people don’t leave crap behind them

Really nice Dave. Thanks for sharing.
Respect! And this also makes you respect those that lived before us.

Lots of good souvenirs! Great job Dave, thanks for the tour.

Dave, wonderful and profound video as always. CONGRATULATIONS on your impending grand-fatherhood! That is such wonderful news!
My grandson was born about a month ago. I'm officially an old guy now. Mother and baby are doing great.
Right on my friend, that is great news! Well, except for officially being old, LOL.

Me too .. need to know .. are the shelters torn down by Alone crew once show is over? Would be a shame .. especially the log cabins

Just finished watching season 2. Loved it! Congratulations!
WoW, how trippy it must have been to return.
Loved to see you revisit the cove and talk about it man! The comparison with the place you lived as a kid really makes sense
Wow! I loved this!!
JIUJITSU2000 I know how cool was that!
just finished season two. wished you still made videos!

Parabéns Mac, fique em forma, pois o History costuma fazer desafio com os vencedores das temporadas.
Colega, muito show, pena que essa temporada não passou aqui no Brasil.
What a wonderful trip! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Glad you got to go. :)
Really cool to see your spot again through your eyes. Did you ever see any boats come in close during your time on the island?
No, only the Wicked Salmon used by the crew.

Beautiful
This little series is awesome Dave, enjoying every minute of it ! haha congrats on your time out there must've been quite the experience :)

What did he say he used the boom chain for? The clanking of the chain blocks out what he said. @ 8:45 thanks.

put the hook in a lucite block and on top of a wooden base with brass plaque
You did a fantastic job.
Took your Tramontina machete?
Grande abraço
No, I had to leave my machete at home.
@@Colhane looking back at it, after the deed, do you think it would have helped? Would you trade anything you took for it?

@@Colhane Thanks for the reply. It was great seeing you win that season. Um grande abraço do Brasil!
Did the crew let you know where the location was after you won or did you remember the route?
It was super easy to tell once I looked at Google Earth upon my return. I knew the location with 100% certainty.
Did you go to Vancouver Island to do something for History Channel or just for fun ?
This was just a personal trip, nothing official with the show.
Good for you Dave
he found home.
sad to see the things they did not clean up
If you had not known where my shelter was you never would have spotted it. They did clean up. That they missed that old rope hidden in a hole at my temporary camp is no fault of theirs. As for things that floated up on the beach still being there, the entire coastline looks like that.
That's our coast.. it catches a lot of trash unfortunately. Lucky for the contestants lol
did you truly get the money?
Yay!!! Let's celebrate pollution!
Quando volta ao Brasil e a fazer vídeos em Português?
Espero voltar logo, talvez Julho. Fiz um entrevista com Giuliano Toniolo no canal dele.
It was only 2 months 😂

Peaceful John yes but full of crap you left behind🤬
Can’t lie. I think you were the worst Alone Winner ever.
