oh my god this is insane! the tension is SO WELL DONE. the actress in the blue shirt absolutely stole the scene. the angles, the music, the acting, everything is so perfectly eerie. as someone who grew up in the church, i felt every single second of this!!! god i hope someone picks this up for a feature!
So many good actors in this! The first lady noah meets her voice acting was amazing and then the audition lady in blue omg she sent chills down my spine!❤
really enjoyed the sound design and directing in this, also how intentional everything felt right from the start. The jarring angles every character was filmed from compared to Kennerdy's wider more relaxed frames served the general eeriness well too. The overwhelming feeling that Noah entered a trap/maze was nicely portrayed too (peeping the uncomfortably misplaced EXIT sign tho idk if that was a coincidence lol). The dialogue and the pacing felt disturbing too. I like how both Noah and the people at the church had their seperate but obvious thirst/desire/ want expressed throughout the film. How Noah was in a constant back and forth battle of choosing between pursuing her desire for singing and recognition and listening to all the warning signs and sirens screaming at her to leave lol. Overall, really fascinating work, would love to see more of your productions and wishing the best for you guys and Kennedy
as a film student and as someone who's been following kennedy for quite some years now, this is amazing. the way she became her character is unreal. but the way i could feel the temperature and the smells of that church was insane. the photography, the sound!! what an amazing work! i hope to see more from all of you soon. greetings from argentina :)
Kennedy's acting improved so much. She really embodied the character so much. I was mad of how short this film is but it's SHORT film after all. I really just want to see more to be honest, because it's too good to be that short. 😂 Hunter Livingston & the team did really good job capturing all the creepiness, unsettling feelings and THE SOUNDS is insane... it's almost like asmr which i love so much. I'm excited to see his future projects and hopefully brings back Kennedy ❤️✨️
The first conversation noah and dawn had *chefs kiss* i felt uneasy as if I’m in the same room as them also the camera pointing at dawn without any background music just the eerie wind blowing was unsettling AND BRILLIANT
12:18 I love how the framing switches from more negative space to the right (noah) to more negative space to the left (other characters), making it appear claustrophobic and eerie. also the lightning on noah is much softer; whereas on the girl it casts harsh shadows.

Well this was.. quite the film, everyone was brilliant. I was actually sort of thrown off that it ended so quickly. I forgot that it was a short film, haha! Kennedy and all the other actors were so great, y'all really sold the story. If this somehow ever turned into a full length feature film I'd definitely buy tickets to see it!

In the last scene where the camera is held by the lady in the blue shirt, you can see that Noah realizes that what she previously felt was somewhat eerie is now a virtually inescapable threat. The look on her face really got me.
Kennedy's acting really did improve compared to her acting in Intern in Chief. Her micro expressions were nice to see and feels more natural. As for the film itself, maybe because it is a short film but the plot is ambiguous. I'm guessing the goal is to leave it to the viewer's interpretation but it definitely needs more scenes that will give us an idea. It would add more sense if there were more shots that were focusing on her neck while the woman is staring weirdly at it and then randomly showing shots of her being covered in blood or a close up shot of her eyes crying but looking empty along with the scenes of flesh being cut. But still, the film was able to make the viewer uncomfortable so that's still good. It's nice to see her acting and hopefully this provides her a stepping stone to getting more roles. Congrats to the whole team.

I don't want to offend anyone, people are already calling this blasphemous, lol, so I won't go into detail, but I'll give a little bit of insight. This film really reminded me of how I grew up, in a very religious household, and the indoctrination I went through. I'm not saying all religious people are like this, but my family happened to be, so this is based off my experience! Anyway, I think what this short film is trying to portray is how Evangelists go a little overboard and put pressure on people to follow their faith. Noah (Kennedy) clearly isn't religious, and was visibly uncomfortable the whole time, but her passion for singing made her stick around longer than she probably wanted. Maybe she was trying to leverage being a soloist to kickstart her music career, but realized how deep this church really goes with their faith. Especially when she tried to leave, and was essentially forced into staying, basically pressuring her to give into Christ. If you've seen Midsommar, it's very similar to this, super cult-like. Again, not saying every religious person is like this, but a lot do happen to be. I don't know, this is just my theory, but this whole film was unsettling. I can see why some people wouldn't get it, especially if they themselves are faithful, because unless you're on the outside looking in, you don't really know how cultish it truly is. There's being religious, and then being an Evangelist, this is the latter. I'm not saying it's wrong, but it definitely teeters on very bizarre and uncomfortable.

the way I interpreted this film is that the church choir is filled with people who take their devotion to God to a whole other level: every member of the church choir solely displays their duty to God by living for him through their singing (every time they sing, they are giving parts of themselves to god and in turn, become weaker) but Noah's desire to do what she loves without it being merely for her love for God, confuses and disturbs the other members of the church. The title "From the flesh" relates to the idea that the members of the choir have given their flesh and identity to God but Noah (who has her scorpio sign and own identity) scares and intimidates them. by wanting Noah as part of their group, they want to extend the flesh of God which becomes "too much" for members such as the one Noah finds crying in the bathroom.
It seems as though there are two extremes in this movie; one is this weird choir that is almost obsessed with "God" (not the right one), they don't make up a real Church and they're certainly not filled with the Holy Spirit rather by a demon. And on the other end, there's Noah who sort of believes in God but doesn't really care or have a relationship with Him and is also sort of tied to demons (through zodiac). So yeah, no real Church in here. Either was the purpose of the filmmaker to just show how both are wrong or he/she purposely tried to depict Church as weird and wrong... I unfortunately kinda have a feeling that it's the latter considering the culture that this comes from but... oh well, God will prevail anyways and those who refuse will regret...

Kennedy’s acting honestly seemed off and inconsistent. Her characters behavior didn’t make sense and her personality seemed to be changing over the course of the film in an unnatural way. Idk anything I say will be seen as hating or trolling but that’s my honest opinion. Kristy on the other hand was impeccable, her acting was great and made the production feel more expensive than it probably was.
This was so great, I just wish it was a few minutes longer to really deepen the story line & give us a bit more of an ending. The cinematography was brilliant though!!

Kennedy is genuinely awesome, her acting is more reacting and it feels natural, even though the angles are intimidatingly close sometimes :D but it fits so well, I get that she has expressive face and you can see the discomfort throughout isn't subtle on her, but she has depth, especially lovely to see the microexpressions in the dimmed light, it's intense.
To everyone involved, it was lovely watching the film, definitely an expirience, thanks : ] 🧡
Kennedy’s acting honestly seemed off and inconsistent. Her characters behavior didn’t make sense and her personality seemed to be changing over the course of the film in an unnatural way. Idk anything I say will be seen as hating or trolling but that’s my honest opinion. Kristy on the other hand was impeccable, her acting was great and made the production feel more expensive than it probably was.
First 25 secs showed me she is a good actress.
