Thank you for sharing your thoughts on our wallets Joshua! The updated wallets will arrive the first week of April 4/1/24 and can be purchased via pre-order until that date. The updates include.. •Magnetic Enclosure •Removal of the Cash Strap •Added In-seam Bill Pocket •Added Card Slot on the Backside •Removal of the Elastic Band for Easier Cardholder Removal As of this post (3/26/24) all of the sold-out color ways of this wallet will have the mentioned updates. **The Midnight Edition will be updated in May**
That's great news! When would the product images be updated on the website? While I see that the title says 'updated version' for a couple of wallets, the description and images still refer to the older/existing versions.
Just ordered a double oak wallet because of this video. I was torn between these particular wallets specifically and yeah double oak has what I'm looking for..Thanks for content
The Secrid looks like a great wallet but it reminds me of my mothers coin purse with that button strap. I dont want to unbutton my wallet, PERIOD. I went with the new version of the Double Oak. It may be larger but I love everything about it.
Glad you found the video helpful my friend! At the end of This month their new iteration with the dedicated cash compartment and magnetic closure will be available. So not too much longer. Otherwise the one in this video should be at a good discount. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by
Secrit should change that plastic cash holder to leather or to new xpac material, that plastic will break in to pieces in time and if they can put a coin pocket outside it would be perfect
i've had mine for five years and never had a problem with the cash holder. i always try to pay cash whenever possible and get notes in/out nearly daily. it has never broken.
I can't believe I missed this video when it came out, I've been supporting your content for a couple of months and it's actually good, keep it up Joshua!
I bought this wallet with the expectation it would be magnetic and I assure you it is not. Mine was purchased on Amazon so maybe that’s their old design?
Correct, the new design will be implemented in all of the sold-out versions of the wallet on our site. But after one week of use, your leather will break in and close naturally.
@@AFGixxeR88correct. the midnight edition will likely be updated in May. But just so you’re aware, once the leather breaks in the wallet closes naturally without a magnet. It is really only a temporary issue.
@@doubleoakessentialsI want the updated design but don’t want a gold version. I like the standard brown leather and black clip. When can we expect all models to be updated?
Just got one and then saw your video after haha, great content. Really excited for it and it seems like the perfect wallet given that they fixed the issues you mentioned.
Awesome review. I was personally looking to upgrade my wallet and I was actually torn between the Secrid or a Pularys. However, after watching this review I think now I'm likely going to get this instead, especially considering how much cheaper it is compared to the Secrid. I do have one question though if you don't mind answering. Towards the end of your review you mention Double Oak made a redesign of their card that resembles the Secrid's design more and to check their website for it... I can't seem to find any mention of such a redesign though, not even on their blog. Is it something that a spokesperson has personally told you is in the works to be released in the future? If so maybe I should wait for that release cause it sounds interesting. In any case, thanks again for taking the time to make this review.
Hey there my friend! Thanks for stopping by. The new implementation will be in place for late March (new cash implementation, magnetic enclosure, and interior card pocket with thumb slot). So that should be when you will see them pop up on their site.
Ekster is a 2 year warranty, had to warranty 2 times already and now a third issue has occurred and now it’s time to change smh even though I’m still in warranty
It would be great if you could also remove the card holder from SECRID. However, the way the card holder is attached/integrated in DO makes the wallet unnecessarily thick and wastes space. It would be great if you could "hang" the card holder or attach it with a magnet. Then you would save the front leather side (where the elastic band sits) and could still store money behind the card holder and in front of the card holder. Why I still prefer the Secrid: 1. I prefer buttons for closure (especially if you're stuffing your wallet) 2. Coin storage possible with new coin pocket 3. More choice in colors, leather and embossing.
Aside from points two and three you listed (as yes Secrid has a coin add on option and 100 percent more color options). The new iteration I mentioned in the video coming out at the end of the month should take care of many of your complaints. Also, in terms of thickness, I understand what you’re saying. But the added thickness of this wallet isn’t as great as you might think. I didn’t find it necessarily noticeable in a way which made me feel it was cumbersome. Though yes it is thicker, it’s not necessarily a detriment. Thanks for thank g the time to share your points and thoughts my friend. Even if you’re not a fan, always helpful for others to think about these things.
First of all, you have great taste in collors. I've got the Secrid in dark green. And then I have to admit, the locking system and the fact that you can seperate the card holder from the leather are quite the improvement. It would have been even better if the button from the locking mechanism was flush with the side. I can see it catch on the rim of my pocket. Another possible downside I see is that it seems a bit bulkier than the Secrid? I buy these because they are slim. BTW, the trick to keep these slim with cash in them, is to fold each bill seperately, and not fold the stack as a hole. Lastly, I was wondering if a magnetic card holder and magnetic stripe cards are such a good combo? I'm not a techie though, so this might be an old and solved issue... Nice review, man.
Thank you for the kind words and sharing the tip my friend. The new wallet should be out at the end of March. I just found out right before I was going to post, so I wanted to make sure to state that. I’ll definitely share the new one once it drops as like you said, those two things are game changers. And yes, you can’t go wrong with green 😎
@@Joshua88Graham Hey Josh! Eagerly awaiting your thoughts about the updated version and comparison with the OG SECRID miniwallet. When can we expect your video to drop?
Everything is made from metal, minus the the small black fanning component. I haven’t found any wallets that have that piece made of metal. But I think that’s due to the fact that if it was metal, it would scratch the cards.
Thanks for the kind words and taking a second to comment my friend. The new wallet redesign will be up at the end of this month. So keep an eye out on their website - should be linked there in the description.

Just bought three from Amazon, but looks like I'll be returning if the magnet closure is missing. A bit misleading to leave links to Amazon and discussing this update, when not currently available.
Select colour types for the updated model can be preordered straight from the Double Oak website right now, albeit with a slightly higher delivery fee compared to Amazon.
Nice, but until these things have a compartment for my Samsung Smart Tag (or tag of your choice) I'm not too interested. May as well stick with my magic wallet.
Hello there Josh, id like to ask you about secrid mini wallet, my concern is if there is a possibility for cards in card protector to slip out accidentally, i purchased my mini wallet a week ago and even though when cards appear to be holding well inside, when i tried to shake wallet with bit more force , cards slipped out of card protector a bit but not completely ( 6 not embossed cards ) im curious if that is okay or is it a defect and there should be no way card would slip away, also id like to know if i can have less than 4 cards in card protector. Thanks for answer and take care :)
Hey there my friend. If you’re shaking the card holder with force it’s going to be normal to see the cards come out a bit as you described. It does the same with mine. It’s definitely normal if you are shaking it for that to happen, but with normal everyday use you won’t have any issues with cards falling out (:
