I bought one in Hong Kong while in the Navy in 1969. My favorite camera. I like the feel of using it, have other lenses, filters, bellows, low light sensor. I could do all kinds of things with it, Now am using a Nikon D3100 which I need to find a Jr. High kid to take with me if I want to use just about anything other than automatic. I have a number of cameras, but the FT ql is far and away my favorite even though I will never use it again.
I have this camera, booklet and even the plastic bag it came wrapped in. Flew the friendly sky's of south east Asia with me 42 years ago. Still buy only Canon today.
You push the self timer lever towards the lens. Gives depth of field preview, The L at bottom is lever lock and the M is mirror locked up. If its on the white dot it springs back after pushing towards the lens.
@Mamuchaa1 wind the knob on the Left clokwise. if you feel tension, there should be a roll of film inside (but certainly very much expired). to rewind film back into camera, theres a button on the Right Bottom side. press it and wind the left knob. to open, theres a lever to the Left Bottom side. pdf manual can be downloaded on interwebs
damn good video, but, you need the 50mm 1.4! this camera is a beauty, and a masterpiece, i bought it last week with 50mm f/1.4 and 35-70 f/4, and i love it!
@AnMaRy17 Canon FTs used PX625 mercury batteries which are banned in the US. Google PX625 and you will find some solutions to this issue. I use #675 hearing aid batteries in my Canon FT. The camera is indestructable!
How much do you think one of these would be worth? I have one that I inherited and its in pristine working condition with a 55mm lens. I also have a 100-200mm lens and an Eva Blitz Sm NO.6 flash.
I have the TL QL, but I am not sure what my lever that is on the front left side does, it looks like the same on the FT QL timer. What cable release should I use?
HI, just wondering i have a 1960s mint condition corfield 66 camera it has a strap box manual and everything it came with, how much would i get for it now? please reply thanks.
I just bought this camera at a flee market without really knowing much about it. I realize that the battery door is missing. Will it still function even if there's no door to cover the battery?
It's a cool, mechanical camera, and you must love it. Just find one that was REGULARLY USED. And if you have one, play with it. Otherwise, it will start getting ill. All those cogs, wheels and springs: ua-cam.com/video/VUswiBfWvck/v-deo.html
Beautiful classic SLR, love it. They don't make anything as nice as this anymore.
Canon FTB QL is one of my favorite camera!
This Canon was my second camera and a selection of lenses and I still have on my collection of Cameras, great camera! presently I use digital SLR.

Battery is only for exposure meter. It will work anyway. But without meter. :)
Can you recommend a good, cheap cold shoe flash?
