    I’m anaphylactic to Peanuts and most likely anaphylactic to Tree Nuts, I haven’t traveled around the world like I want to but I have been nervous with my allergies. This guide has helped for sure!

      Glad I could help. I have traveled a lot even with my food allergies. Traveling with a peanut/tree nut allergy is actually not that bad because so many people are aware of it this type of allergy nowadays. My son is also allergic to nuts and we have never had a problem traveling with him. We always meet amazing people on our travels that go above and beyond to accommodate us: chefs, waiters, hotel managers, etc. There are so many nice people in the world! If ever you plan to travel I'd be glad to answer any more questions you might have.

      I’m currently in Colombia and I’m allergic to nuts, fish, and sesame.
      When I go to restaurants here I triple confirm that I won’t be allergic to the food. Three times now they’ve still delivered food with my allergens in them.
      That being said, if you have food allergies, be very careful when traveling in Colombia / South America.

      Don't worry. I've traveled all over the world with my food allergies and have never encountered any problems. Peanut and nut allergies are the best allergies to have because so many people are aware of them and they can easily be avoided. Just take the precautions I mentioned and you guys are going to have a wonderful trip. Thanks for watching ;)

    I suffer with anxiety anyhow but i am even more anxious now being confirmed that i have an allergy to peanuts . I have been given an epipen but i'm really frightened. No one belived my allergy when i was a child having a reaction they thought i was just having a tantrum . Didnt have it tested for years due to a needle phobia . I really struggle to trust people with the allergy due to this .

      I completely understand. I also had trouble with a lot of family members who told me that food allergies were made up. They didn't believe me until I had a major allergy in front of the family after I ingested my allergen and then they started to take my allergy seriously. I sucks that it took me almost dying to convince them. Stay strong and be firm with people. Bring your own food if they don't respect your food requests. That is what I did for my son and I each time I went to other people's homes. Good luck!

    I found this very helpful. I live in Sweden and I would like to travel to spain and other countries like america and austrailia. Im allergic to milk, egg, all kinds of nuts (air), crayfish, fured animals etc. Ive alot of them but the most annoying is milk,eggs and nuts. because they are being used everywhere. So when I travel in the future I will try to remember this video. Its helpful to know other people have done it before me so I dont have to figure out these things myself

      So glad I could help. Don't worry, it should all be fine. The key is being well prepared and bringing allergy safe food onto the plane for your son to eat. Don't forget to warn the air attendant of your son's allergies. Have a wonderful trip!

      Oh and make sure to bring antibacterial wipes to wipe down the surfaces your son will touch on the plane. That is also something I recommend to prevent cross contamination from a previous air passenger.

      @@rhelend Yes Walt Disney World is a great place to go with allergies because they are so allergy friendly. I also have gone to Hawaii and Europe with my allergic kid and never had a problem. I usually rent a place with a kitchen to cook my own meals but if not hotels are good with allergies too. I also can recommend Royal Carribean cruises which were wonderful with our food allergies.
      I also have traveled to Asia and South America and never had an allergy but it was definitely more challenging. I usually stay away from all inclusives, buffets and always need to be vigilant when trying to communicate in a different language. It is harder to eat out.

      I know how stressful it can be to travel when you are traveling with a kid with a food allergy. The key is to be well prepared. If you have some snacks and food that you know are safe, bring those along and your trip will go smoothly. I always found hotels to be super accommodating when it comes to food allergies. Don't worry, it will be fine. Have a wonderful trip!

    So I will be traveling to Vietnam in December. I am staying at an Airbnb so I will be able to cook for myself. But I am taking Qatar airlines, and connecting in Doha. Qatar does not handle nut allergies at all, so I will have to bring my own meals. Its. 12 hours flight (14 coming home). So I wanted to know any advice on how to bring food for myself for the plane ride? Im not sure if you have any experience in Doha or HCM City, Vietnam, but if you know what foods I can/cannot bring that would be appreciated as well. Thank you so much, very helpful video.

      Any canned or dry package food is ok to fly with or pass customs with. If you don’t pass customs before your flight you can bring fresh food as long as it is not liquid but you will have to throw out leftovers before you pass customs. I’ve never had trouble in Asia traveling with canned or dry packaged food so you can carry those in your suitcase to eat in Vietnam

    Is liquid Benadryl a good backup of you don’t have an epi pen?

    • @AlexgoesCoconuts
      @AlexgoesCoconuts  10 місяців тому +2

      No! Benedryl is an Antihistamine. The only treatment for anaphylaxis is epinephrine (Epipen). But it is recommended to take both epinephrine and antihistamines during a severe allergic reaction. Anaphylaxis must be treated right away to provide the best chance for improvement and prevent serious, potentially life-threatening complications. Always carry two epinephrine auto-injectors so you can quickly treat a reaction wherever you are. Epinephrine works quickly to reverse symptoms. After injecting yourself, immediately get medical help or call 911. If symptoms don’t improve after five to 15 minutes, give yourself a second injection. Although very effective, the effect of epinephrine is short-lived. Therefore, it’s important that you immediately seek medical care after having an anaphylactic reaction, even if the injection helps your symptoms. Hope that answers all your questions.

    What do you do in cruises?

    • @AlexgoesCoconuts
      @AlexgoesCoconuts  Рік тому

      I emailed a letter to the cruise line's special needs team with my allergies as well as my son's allergies ahead of time. They emailed me back confirming that they spoke to the head chef on the cruise. They also encouraged us to visit the Maitre D on the first day of the cruise to ensure that they could customize the menu for each meal and to make sure that our server was aware. we ended up going to several signature restaurants on the cruise and they also were able to accommodate our dietary needs. The staff on the cruise all went above and beyond to make our cruise very safe and enjoyable.

    Is it possible to go to India with a penut allergy?

    • @AlexgoesCoconuts
      @AlexgoesCoconuts  Рік тому +1

      It is definitely going to be challenging especially if you don't speak the language. It can be done but you will most probably have to take more steps to keep yourself safe. Bring as much food as you can carry from back home (dry and canned goods). Try to avoid eating in places where you are not sure about the menu. Eat in hotel restaurants and fancier restaurants where you can ask to speak to the chef or manager to make sure there is no cross contamination. Stay away from street food. Hope that helps.
