Growing Cucumbers from Seed to Harvest!

The journey to the cucumber harvest is epic and DEFINITELY worthwhile!
This video documents the process of growing cucumbers in my front yard vegetable garden, all the way from seed to harvest (and clean-up). The cucumber variety I grew this year was called 'English Long Telegraph', an heirloom slicing type ready to harvest in just 50-70 days. I planted three cages of cukes with three plants per cage. Cucumbers are a reliable, low-maintenance crop perfect for all gardeners and I highly recommend you grow some yourself!

Nice harvest! How did this variety compare to others you’ve grown in the past? Will you be growing Max Pack cucumbers again?

Thanks Vanessa! I'm honestly not too impressed with this variety. It's an heirloom and seemed to produce less, and more misshapen fruits than the hybrid varieties I grew last season: Corinto and Bristol. I might grow Max Pack again if I'm thinking of making jars of pickles :)

Hi Teresa! It was a temperature probe to monitor soil temperature. They are actually meant for reptile enclosures. Cucumbers germinate the quickest around 75-90 degrees Fahrenheit.
