I am SO happy I found you! I told my son "My new best friend is having a live stream on Sunday!" He knew I was talking about you 🤣 I bought some seeds today - thank you for the tomato sale and the 10% off! I love that you sell seeds you grow here in Florida. And that you try out varieties that are not typical to European descent gardening ❤ For me, wilts are what have gotten my cucumbers here in Florida 😢
I grew different sunflowers this season and every sunflower mildewed! I will be mixing up that peroxide and water mix!!! Thank you for taking the time to teach us about all the individual plants. I will be binge watching now!
It is so awesome to hear you plan on making video grow guides for all the crops you grow!! I'm gathering notes on so many of your videos. You've been sooo helpful and encouraging!! Appreciate that! (I know this video is 9 months ago, at this time :)
Have you tied Winer Sowing? In gallon jugs? I am in North Carolina and winter sowed over a hundred crops in milk jugs.I used solo cups for sowing tomatoes. Putting one cup with drain holes inside a solid cup to catch water.
Thank you for the video. The word is pronounced PAR-the-no-CAR-pic, as in the Parthenon, as in the Greek goddess Athena, who was known for being a virgin goddess. In this instance virgin = no sexual reproduction. Lots of botany is named after ancient Greek terms, including the ancient Greek pantheon. This is the reason for your next term after that "gynoecious", meaning female (= gyno).
Hi Jerra! Do pickle worms glow at night under a black light like tomato worms do? I have a black light flashlight from Amazon. Jessica Sowards from Roots and Refuge shared the tomato worm tip on one of her videos. I’m really enjoying your videos and all the information you’re sharing. Very informative and helpful! Thank you!
I have been following her channel for years. Huge fan. I dont think pickle worms glow like the tomato horn worm. I have better luck finding them in the early morning. They go into hiding during the heat of the day. Or if your unable to keep up with hand picking, spray with BT.
I’ve been enjoying your content a few months now. We are in Destin, Florida and this summer I used a lot of shade cloth for the first time to great success but it was different-y. I know your climate varies significantly from ours, but have you tried them yet? Just curious as to what differences you’d have from mine.
I have not used shade cloth yet because well....I'm too lazy to set it all up LOL. I move things into shady spots of my garden instead. But I am very curious in experimenting with shade cloth. What differences did you notice?
@@JerrasGarden I can be a bit lazy as well. I did get shade cloth up over my tomatoes, and they produced in the spring and languished and survived over the summer while I was traveling a lot. They really did their peak production in the fall though! After two months of languishing in the heat of the summer, they started to produce again, and we had fairly decent production from them for us second sub season. Is that a real word? Lol.🤓 I did a lot of videos on it over the summer, but this is my first time doing it so I’m wanting to see more people in Florida who are having success with it.
Absolutely enjoy your videos When your seedlings develop their mature leaves how often do you fertilize? Also what’s your thoughts about water hardness when watering I feel like my water is a bit hard I’m in va 7b
I fertilize about once a week with fertilizer mixed at half strength. I don't have experience with water hardness, but if it is not affecting your plants then I wouldn't worry about it.
I just want to know if I can eat pickleing cucumbers fresh. All I see is that pickleing varieties are shorter with thinner skins, but why are they better for pickles than salads? Do they taste different? Is there's something about them that makes them undesirable fresh? Can someone tell me?? Anyone? 😭
This is truly a rewarding way to live.
Here fresh off your Green bean video!

Wow I'm surprised because I have never had mildew on my sunflower plants and I'm in FL. Just keep trying. Maybe it was just a bad season.
This the best UA-cam channel ever. All the best from UK.

Yep that's the plan!

I'm in FL so no need to winter sow, but I know a lot of people that try the milk jug method and it works great.
Hi Jerra, Outstanding video, as always. Best, Albert
Boston pickling are my favorite to grow for pickles too ❤ they are prolific growers and hold their crunch no matter how you process them
Yes, they are one of my favorites for making pickles

Hi jerra, how often do you spray for worms?
Really enjoyed this video. Thank you
Long time fan, that also lives in Orlando.
So happy that you're sharing you're expertise via UA-cam
I think there were 5 days last year that ranged between 70 and 90F at my house... never been able to grow a cucumber yet!
