- After several tries it looks like Hasbro's latest Marvel Legends Hawkeye figure is indeed the definitive, end-all, be-all version of everyone's favorite Marvel archer.
I break down this latest Hawkeye and see how he compares with the Toy Biz, Marvel Select and previous Hawkeye figures.

I think it's the BEST Hawkeye figure that's ever been done! Now I need a classic Falcon, Hasbro!! lol.
I just got my Wonder Man, Baron Von Strucker, and Molecule Man in yesterday. Strucker is a home run! Wonder Man isn't 100% on-model. Baggy paints, I can live with, but I just had to dry brush gray into his hair. When he wore the red hunting jacket, his hair was gray. He appeared to look more like a 40 year old in the Stern/Byrne AVENGERS! He seemed to get much younger in THE WEST COAST AVENGERS, so the dark haired version doesn't belong with this figure. Fixed that pretty easy, so he looks great on my shelf! Can't wait for this new Hawkeye!
Oh, good call on that Simon fix! I'll need to do that when I get him if my area stores will ever track him down. Love to see how yours turned out.
I'm with you on a classic Falcon. He can't arrive soon enough!
I think I'm gonna turn my Wonder Man into the Red Ghost. That wave was pretty ace. Von Strucker and Cap were the highlight for me.
As weird as it is, Hawkeye's costume is one of my all-time favorite costume designs in superhero comics. The sharp angles, the purple/blue color scheme, the touches of pirate/medieval/swashbuckler elements. I just love his classic look so much. And this figure NAILS it. Dead on target.
I would've passed on the Skycycle, honestly. I don't need it; probably won't display it, so I'm not happy about paying $25 for it, but the truth is, this is a case where I'm happy to pay $50 for the ultimate version of one of my favorite Avengers.
The funny thing is I love those classic 70s and 80s costumes...and some 90s outfits. I feel like they were so much more thoughtful with the designs instead of just what looks "kewl."
I hear what you're saying Ryan, but at least the Skycycle is a worthwhile inclusion for him as opposed to some random accessory that doesn't have anything to do with him. I'm hyped to get him as well!
They don't, the fabric looks odd in this case, because the pattern is the same of the plastic side.
Only thing this is missing is an arrow with a small Ant-man at the end of it
For sure! But I have held onto that one from my Toy Biz figure.
Definitely agree. Can't believe Hasbro can't do the trick arrows, especially the ant man one.
@@jwolf8371 I think they realize they're not topping Toy Biz's work on them!
Beautiful figure
I REALLY like it. They knocked it out and I'm looking forward to adding it to the collection!
West coast avengers and iron man cartoon here we come!
I always loved the colors they used on Hawkeye. Looks really good
Yeah, I read how it's not as good as Green Arrow's color scheme, but I kinda like Hawkeye's better.
So happy this came out been needing Hawkeye for my Avengers collection but missed out the last time. Most of my figures are still in their packaging on my wall but once I get a proper display I will probably open them up to display.I am just a little torn because they look so good on the wall as is. Hawekeye was my favorite Avenger as a kid.
I'm glad to hear all this Hawkeye love. I thought he was underappreciated but sounds like I'm not the only one who thinks he's a great Avenger.
@@LylesFigureFiles Growing up reading the Avengers during the 80s he was the character I most related to on the team. In terms of sarcasm and challenging the status quo, rebel behaviour. You had your leaders and paragons like Cap, Black Panther, Iron Man and your powerhouses like Hulk, Thor and Hercules that most people might gravitate to first but Clint was your underdog lbecause he only had his bow. It was like why is he here among these amazing people but when it was time to step up and lead he often shined. I was often treated that way as a kid but often liked to prove people wrong.
@@LunaticReason Yep. Just love how he didn't lack for any confidence and the powerhouses on the team just accepted it like "well, that's Clint." I didn't hate the MCU version, but felt like they missed that personality on the team.
@@LylesFigureFiles Agreed on mcu Clint. Think a bit of an across between regular and ultimate version
Im really looking forward to this, my biggest criticisms are that i wish the mask had some paint. A darker purple on the mask, lines, and H would have reallt poppee. Beyond that, i wonder if a different material would have looked better like a vinyl to still give it the needed flexibility but then have a more plastic look to better blend with the figure. That said the price does cause me to pause for what we're getting.
Marvel Universe is such a walk down memory lane. Thats where I got my start.
I wonder if vinyl wouldn't have worked as well. That's the kind of thing I'd love for the marketing/design team to flat out say so collectors speculating that it should have been done this way or that way would understand Hasbro/Mattel/McF, etc. process.
Definitely grabbing Clint one of the last pieces I need for my avengers display
I still probably need oh, about 15 more for mine...no, maybe 20. At least I have my solid versions of Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Black Panther, Warbird, Ant-Man (coming) and now Hawkeye.
@@LylesFigureFiles do you have an instagram account for your UA-cam
@@kenrobinson7563 Yep: instagram.com/lylesmoviefiles/
Great review Jeffrey, I just preordered him on BBT. Fortunately, I didn't pay the crazy secondary price of the retro sleeveless Marvel Legends Hawkeye and waited for this one! I also have the Marvel Legends comic Hawkeye with the blond hair & sunglasses which you didn't mention.
Thank you, David. I definitely wanted to make the distinction with this classic look and the Ultimates or David Aja version since those are more modern looks. I assume with the Disney+ show we'll get an updated version of the Aja look soon.
Great video! That Toybiz sky cycle is actually the one that the Black Knight used when he joined the Avengers in the mid 80s. It was from Wundagore Mountain originally.
Thanks Jeremy! Now I've got a reason to hold on to the other one now!
Hey. Legends have been killing lately. They still bringing us great figures
Yeah Kwamin, they absolutely have been delivering!
@@LylesFigureFiles side note I’m a warriors fan up in the bay. I’m hoping for a game 7
@@kwamintaylor4247 As a Lakers fan, I'm DEFINITELY not hoping for a Game 7. Of all the dynasties over the years that weren't my teams, the only ones I've respected are the Duncan-led Spurs and these Warriors. Everytime Steph or Klay shoots a three I just consider it made and am shocked when it doesn't go in.
Honestly it looks very good, with the new cap, iron man and hulk and rumoured antman/giant man haslab this fits right in. I probably won’t pick it up since I’m trying to limit my self to mcu/ animated Jim lee x men and animated Spider-Man .
If I see it in store I may be very tempted though
Ant-Man is more than a rumor: goto.target.com/WDWoeJ
I'm amazed at your ML restraint! 😆
Not sure about the purple color match on the loin cloth. Looks fine in some pics, way off in others.
That's true. I wonder if it's a lighting issue?
I agree, that's why I don't preorder him.
I agree with you this is a pretty good Hawkeye. Also props for keeping a hold of your toybiz version it looks in great condition 👍
Thanks! I mainly kept them on display until it was time to break them out for a photo shoot. :-)
They’ve been planning this one for a couple years now according to Rektangular. I’m glad they held off and did it right, now we get pinless and not Bucky Cap again. Can’t wait!! We need a classic Mockingbird & a new bow and arrow set, glad I still have my Toybiz set
Oh, I am very glad we didn't get another barely held together Bucky Cap mold for this update. We definitely need a new Mockingbird!
Another great, thorough detailed comparison and a fun run down memory lane for the figures. Makes these videos stand out, and be very different! Great content as always! Happy to know that Hawkeye has been updated. Great tips on the older figure features for those that want to mix and match and do their mashup as well. Props!
Thanks so much man! These are always fun to do especially when I have most of the figures! I think if I enhance this one at all it'll be borrowing the quiver from the ML7 figure.
Hawkeye looks AMAZING! I only hope his fabric loin cloth doesn't start fraying. But I do love the cloth loincloth!
That is a very valid question. I hope we won't have to worry about that!
They need to do cloth more often
@@victory7763 I certainly wouldn't be against it.
I like the select head sculpt I hope it fits and looks better on it
That select head is still amazing and really captures the essence of the character in an open mouth sculpt, which is normally the hardest to pull off.
@@LylesFigureFiles that’s true and I think he sheiks be in Vulcan body mold bc Clint Barton is 6,3 and Vulcan body is taller than Bucky cap
Picking this up for sure…still have the retro version on cardback.
Nice! The retro version was pretty cool for it's time but this is a notable upgrade all over.
I do like the figure but not the price. Will I get it, yeah because I really need to get a Hawkeye badly in my collection. This rebuilding is tough though. Now regret selling off that toybiz one.
The Toy Biz one is good for its time, but definitely doesn't hold up compared to the modern versions.
@@LylesFigureFiles Agreed I’d probably be upgrading anyway.
I’m glad it’s affordable. I hope hasbro makes more reasonable prices for the figures in the future. I can’t wait for the set! Great video Jefferey.
Me too! I don't feel like this one, the BK/Sersi or the Thor sets were priced poorly compared to some other releases. Thanks so much man!
@@LylesFigureFiles you’re welcome.
Ive honestly bought every Hawkeye they've made. I still display the Toy Biz one with the notched arrow and drawn bow. This one is really nice. Gonna have to see him but those trick arrows are going to be in this ones hand!
I have all except the Aja version and that was just because I read that too late and long after the figure was out of circulation. Toy Biz put together some great figures as a decent amount of them still hold up.
@LMF Figure Files That Aja was a rough find. At the time I lived in Chicago. Lots of competition at the stores.
I got mine i really like it looks great
I was chomping at the bit to.order it when I got.off work!
It's funny as I didn't care about his or the Thor/Destroyer price. These are a bit more in line with my expectations for figures if they're going to charge more.
@@jwolf8371 Glad to hear you dug it too!
Sold that all father Hawkeye in anticipation for the new one, basically got the sky cycle for free haha
Man, the all-father version is going for that price? Not bad!
@@LylesFigureFiles sold it for $30 skycycle comes out to $25 like you said so I’m completely fine with the $50 price tag
I've rewatched Avengers: EMH through about halfway into its second season recently and I've got to say Hawkeye is the best part. "Hey, you with the head!" gets me every time. Anyway, I was on the fence but something about the last figure just doesn't sit right with me. I do think I'll probably pick this up.
I really think he's one of the standouts and they captured Hawkeye perfectly --- like they did most of the characters -- but having that loudmouth was awesome.
@@LylesFigureFiles Agreed. Watching him trying and failing to challenge T'Challa for kingship of Wakanda has me rolling. I forgot how well they did him. I'm down to the last handful of episodes. I think the show sold me on getting this one.
@@RisingBean Wait, you're not watching it for the first time are you? I envy you. That was such a fun ride watching it the first (and second and third and fourth times) but there's something about seeing which comic stories they're going to adapt as faithfully as possible.
@@LylesFigureFiles I may as well be. I watched it once about a decade ago, and I'd forgotten most of the plot threads. I remembered it was good, but my memory underrated it. It's great. With that said, it's official. All Father wave Hawkeye is getting retired for this guy.
@@RisingBean Yeah that All Father Hawkeye can move down to my West Coast Avengers portion while this one gets the main Avengers spot 🙂
I really hope with the X-Men cartoon getting a revival they decide the same for Avengers. Maybe around Avengers: Kang Dynasty?
Hawkeye looks very nice! For me, that style of torso articulation really makes a big difference in the overall quality of the toy. I wish they could find a true standard scheme and hold to it.
Yeah, I really hate when they go back to inferior bodies when they have a better solution already created.
...always great content! I'm not feeling this Hawkeye one bit. I'm GEEKED for anyone who is though. I like that cycle and the figure technology of him. Truly the best that's been offered. Soft goods is a steep in the right direction. Maybe some capes will be next.
I'd be interested to see how they'd pull off capes. Dr. Druid seems like a worthy candidate for soft goods! Thanks as always MAGE!
Pre ordered it on BBTS even though I am a Pulse Premium member. Cost me more with shipping but I am SO TIRED of getting everything months after everyone else. Pulse just loves to ship their way after all other stores has them.
At the very least we can depend on them to not cancel our items :-)
Since they took free shipping off the table, I never use Pulse anymore. If I'm paying for free shipping, it ain't free! Waiting till after everyone else always annoyed me, and where is my discount for ordering from the scource?😆
@@jwolf8371 I hear you as I was like that as well, but it actually has come in handy for Pulse exclusives and that free shipping can eventually pay for itself on those big Pulse sales.
This is a fantastic looking figure! Sky cycle not bad, but something is missing? But I see army building just for it. Really people are starting to complain because of the loin cloth? This is stupid! People are always the happiest when they can literally be unhappy for whatever reason.
🤣I "guess" I get it, but I'm VERY happy with how he turned out!
Not gonna lie I’m pretty excited about this Hawkeye, the mask looks better than the old ones, the body and color scheme looks awesome, I like the soft material for the hanging cloth piece and I think the newer sky cycle looks more practical BUT having said that I LOVE my shrunken down select head and I like Hawkeye with the fingerless gloves even though I know most of the time the classic Hawkeye didn’t have those but maybe I can do some part swapping with other figs and get the definitive look I want for him but I’m definitely picking this up
That MS head sculpt is really fantastic for Hawkeye so I totally get it. I do dig the fingerless glove look too and that should be a fairly easy swap for you.
@@LylesFigureFiles lol I hope so ! But idk if I’m gonna be able to find the right matching color gloves is all 🙁
I love that this looks like this belong on the shelf next 20th anniversary Cap and Iron Man.
100% It looks so good!
Aside from the lack of detailing, I really like what I'm seeing out of Hasbro with the retro Avengers figures. It gives me high hopes for what is to come with the X-Men in the second half of the year. Who is finally getting a figure, which team is finally getting completed, who is finally getting an update, and who is finally showing up in era specific costume. Which filler character, that no one asked for, is going to be added to a wave instead of the one we have been asking for?
There's lot of strong choices for the X-Men. And if they're done like these Avengers, it's going to be an exciting second half of 2023!
If I'm not mistaken, all that's left is Buckycap and it will be time for Haslab?
Dan mentioned another figure that hadn't been revealed yet. I'm getting worried that Hasbro is gonna have its Marvel, GI Joe and Star Wars HasLabs back to back to back.
after searing off ML.. im so torn about this fig. it is perfect for my Avengers arcade team , west coast team , and main team!
I think you should take the plunge on this one. It's a fantastic looking figure.
Thanks for your efforts on this one - I never really thought about the various versions of Hawkeye before - and that Marvel Select does look very attractive. I have the Retro-carded Hawkeye, and will hold onto until this product goes on sale. For me, I have no need for the Jet Cycle - nor do I have the room to accommodate it either. Trying to justify spending this much on a regular action figure is simply a bridge too far for me.
Thank you as always Jay! I'm sure you'll be able to get it cheaper eventually. He's a figure I won't feel burned about paying regular price since they did such a nice job on it.
Added it 👌🏾
Nice!!
I'm not too crazy about the price because I don't value a vehicle the same way I would a figure, at the end of the day it's an accessory and if we wanna play the comparison game, the retro carded Iron Man with the proton cannon was 44 bucks and came with way more. Granted I imagine they just wanted to keep the pricing of the Avengers line in the same ballpark regardless of what's in the package and Iron Man probably sells better than Hawkeye. Despite that I'm looking forward to finally getting a Hawkeye. In regards to trick arrows and whatnot you're best bet is whenever Mezco decides to do Hawkeye.
Good call on Mezco. They would do a bang up job on those accessories. I'm sure Hawkeye and the cycle will show up on sale at some point, but I don't mind paying full price for him. I do get the reluctance if folks don't care about the Skycycle.
This would look really nice next to DC Direct Green Arrow
Which DCD GA? The one that came in the Hard Traveling Heroes wave with Green Lantern and Black Canary? Those were nice figures.
@LMF Figure Files Yes that's the one.
Will this new Marvel Legends Hawkeye figure eventually be available for sale at Wal-Mart and Target stores like next month as they both usually carry Marvel Legends series figures? They still have the Hasbro Marvel Legends Sharon Carter figure and the Kate Bush figure. So far my favorite Hasbro Marvel Legends figure is their 2017 Avengers Infinity War Black Widow figure modeled and sculpted after Scarlett Johansson as I think Hasbro did a beautiful job on that figures face sculpt and I also like her olive green color vest with the rest of her costume black as it goes well together.
I think he's an online retail exclusive since it doesn't look like he hit Target's website.
I agree that IW Black Widow is a great figure. I held off on MCU MLs largely because I got their Hot Toys counterpart, but that was one I really thought turned out nice.

The Skycycle and stand are "almost" enough for me to feel it's a decent price. Just about ;-)
They missed the mark again, the needed AntMan on at least one of the arrows.
See what you did there... I still have my holdover one from the Toy Biz figure. Wonder if that's hard for folks to track down now?
Not really but I can see some one making a copy and selling them for $20 with a different bow.
Hope we get an Ultimate suit as well
I would guess he's behind Thor and Iron Man in the queue for Ultimate figures.
@@LylesFigureFiles There is a severe lack of decent Hawkeye figures imo
I always wanted the TB one. At one time, it was $200. So l thought l would wait for Hasbro. Po mine last night. Still think the TB sky cycle looks more aggressive.
Yikes! That's a lot for that figure beyond nostalgia concerns. The TB sky cycle definitely looks more intricate, but I've got no need to dump it ;-)
I prefer cloth for capes and drapes in general. Capes look like the character is just standing against a wall when it's plastic.
I'm waiting on a doctor doom with a cloth cape
The only ones I think it really is needed for is Thor and Dr. Strange since their capes have a bit more flair. Oooh, curious to see how yours turns out!
The figure looks cool. The yellow bow looks goofy. Should be brown, mabey silver. Also overpriced. Will try to get it at a discount.
Yeah, I'll probably go brown for the bow as well.
I think that Hasbro has had some pretty decent reveals/releases this year, but unfortunately they are about a year too late for a lot of collectors. Seems like they burned too many people with the failed HasLab offerings, the ridiculous price hikes, and of course those windowless packages. Three strikes and Hasbro has become "Has-been" in the eyes of many collectors. Personally I've lost interest in trying to get most of this year's Marvel Legends and instead went back to focusing more on collecting offerings from Kickstarter, customizing figures, smaller independent companies, 3rd party unlicensed and 1/6 scale figures 🤷♂️
Aww man, I know Hasbro deserved some of the ill-will but they're cranking out some nice figures this year. What have you grabbed lately?
@lmffigurefiles1609 That's true 👍 Hasbro is doing slightly better this year. So far, it feels like the only thing I've collected this year are more pre-orders lol 😆 but I did receive the Mythic Legions War of the Aetherblade Tactics wave recently, that 3rd party Hades figure by Myth, a few Star Wars Hot Toys from those Sideshow Collectibles flash sales, went all-in on most of the recent action figure Kickstarter campaigns like Savage Crucible, D13 Biblical Adventures, Defenders of Eden, etc. I got that Dark Lynn and the new Blue version of He-man from Mattel, a bunch of gijoe classifieds from that Hasbro sale and whatever other figs I had sitting in my loot pile at BBTS, fodder for customs off ebay, and also the Mezco Keaton Batman and the Mcfarlane Batmobile. I don't think that I've gotten any of the new Marvel Legends figs that they have released this year 🤔
Only if the Adaptiod had a quiver and bow
You're a fan of the Adaptoid?
@@LylesFigureFiles yea but I’m not wasting my money on the the hasbro
That much money and they are only giving us a hammer and shield.
@@minotaur_king1733 Yeah, I'm real disappointed that he doesn't have the wings and the bow and arrow. That would have made it more of a value since it's the classic-esque look for him.
Hasbro has been striking out big time in the last year or two, they need to refocus the business plan, come up with a strong haslab offering and make it up to us cause even tho i pre ordered this figure, im still rdy to walk from Legend Collecting
They had some duds during the pandemic for sure, but I think they've seemed to turn the corner lately and the Avengers figures have been impressive. What all do you want to stay to stick around?
@@LylesFigureFiles I think the only move Hasbro really has left is to re-release as many classic appearance figures as possible with the new pinless tech and allow people to complete a collection team by team. Every time I see pins in a figure I get irritated, we got a full wave of villains demonstrating they could deliver the new tech in plastic plus packaging at a reasonable price. There is a finite number of characters etc to tenably offer even the most hard core collector. There is an end to this road.
@@LylesFigureFiles specifically I will buy the next Green Suit Phoenix they release with the new pinless legs and double jointed elbows. Maybe its time they try a new head sculpt on her, they butchered the paint on the Dark P release.
@@nWoPaullywood I could think of easily another 100 figures I'd still want from Marvel Legends from The Marauders, original costume X-Men and New Mutants, Guardians of the Galaxy, Hellions, Inhumans, a ton more Avengers, Marvel Knights, Defenders, Masters of Evil. There's still plenty left in the tank so long as they're willing to explore.
@@nWoPaullywood I'd like to see a new green Phoenix with a different head sculpt.

@LMF Figure Files yeah I can see that. I have OCD & I need everything still sealed lol. I want to be the first to open the package lol
What a surprise marvel legend fans complaining about the use of soft goods. Even though it’s obviously more fictional. I hope they don’t buy it can you imagine the compliant based videos that are going to complain about a vehicle, brand new sculpted figure no pins using soft goods. Sounds fun.
I think the majority of collectors are happy with this release.
Ain’t no way y’all bout to pay $52 for that….
I think you're underestimating Hawkeye's fanbase and the skycycle isn't a terrible price when you look at some of these unpainted 3D mockups of similar size vehicles.
@@LylesFigureFiles fair enough. Not for me to judge what others deem worth their money. Don’t mean to downplay fans excitement. I just have a hard time justifying the price point.
