After emptying our black tank and using the on board flushing feature I fill the toilet bowl with hot water and flush. Twice most times an this washes away left over solid material.

can't seem to get an answer on this one. my jayco 2022 , has a build in black tank flush, can i use full campground pressure on it? i use a pressure reducer on the water going into the camper?
I have put my mother out to pasture ;) jk jk and she is living in a 30ft camper now . Recently started having backed up toilet issues . Thank u for the advice . We will also be replacing the seal . No longer holding water in the tank .
Hey, guys!!! I'm a 74 yr old woman that is living in a 30 ft rv mostly because of losing my 80 ft mobile home due to a storm 4 yrs ago. Have built on deck, laundry, covered as well so I'm a happy camper. Problem is I've been here 4 yrs and am getting sewer smells outside my front door. I had my system connected to my original septic tank. Plumber assured me there was enough drop to keep everything moving. I have tried to be careful about putting dish water down my kitchen sink and was dumping outside. Since reading some of these articles, I now flush that water. I've started adding more water to my grey water drains as well as my toilet. If anyone has any ideas or experiences with this kind of situation please help!!!
+Bobbie J you can do that. In the past we have added a work lamp with a non led light BULB in the wet area and it keeps the tanks from freezing. This works in our class “A”
I am going to be leaving my trailer stationary for the summer and not using! What should I do with my black and grey water tanks? Can you tell me the mixture of dawn detergent in what else to put in your tanks
I can attest to the frustrating/angering/gross job of clearing a "pyramid" black tank. My fiver was owned by people who left the black valve open during the time they lived in it- FOR THREE YEARS. I'm using a portable toilet and dumping that tank into my brother's toilet currently. The old, broken toilet in the fifth wheel was removed. I pour water, laundry soap and borax into the tank and empty that into a bucket. The bucket is then dumped into my brother's toilet. Why a bucket and not a blue boy or rv sewer hose connection, you ask? Don't currently have a blue boy. 2. someone at some time in this fiver's life used the toilet has a household trash can. Yup- gloved hands take the household trash out and put it in trash bags. The rest goes in the proper place. How bad is it, you ask? It's a 20-gal tank, so it's sizeable. The solid waste was from front to back, side to side and all the way to the top of the tank. For weeks, I'd pour gallons of water into the tank and get very little out- now that it's saturated, it's clearing bit by bit. I'm not happy with it, but I got the fiver for $203- so I expected some work, but not to become an expert in clearing a black tank. Your videos are wonderful- I hope someone can learn something from my post and realize what can happen if they don't heed your advice.
Tina wow that sound frustrating for sure... Some people just don't do any research on things an just crap on others (pun interned). Have you tried to have it professionally pressure cleaned? OR have you looked into getting it replaced?
The area where I'm living is way to expensive to have it pressure cleaned, if the local RV "repair" shop can even do it. Replacing the black tank isn't an option- the way this 88 Fireball fiver was built, I'd have to disassemble half the undercarriage to get to it. Once I move from my brother's place to an RV park, I can hook up the sewer hose and run a garden hose inside, down the toilet and run the hose full blast to send the rest of the gunk down the drain (so to speak). I can tell you, if I ever lend out an RV I own and it's brought back with a pyramid, that person will be sleeping on a blanket in the open air long before I'll ever let him/her/them EVER use one owned by me again.
HEY Ben, Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. In my opinion, as long as the tanks are empty I would not add chems to them. The chemicals will just sit there and evaporate and is just a waist of money. My 2 cents...
If you are camping every other weekend by all means add the fresh chemicals to your tank as soon as you flush and clean it. By having the chemicals in the tank when you travel home and then travel to your next destination the liquid chemicals will slosh around keep your tank clean. Having chemicals in the tank will pretty much take care of any odors as well. With camping every two week there is zero chance that your chemicals will dry up. I even put chemicals in mine when I winterize it. My trailer is 3 years old and the black and grey tanks have never been dry. They also don't stink. Keep it clean and keep it fresh and never let it dry out. Your tanks will stay fresh and your seals will never dry out.
Great tips Aron, I also toss ice down the black tank before I start driving down the road. This agitates any residue composites in the black tank. Then when you arrive at a campground , just dump the tank again. Great episode!
After Black tank is clean use 1 cup Calgon water softener with 1/2 cup Dawn liquid dish soap, combine in half gal warm water, stir gently, pour into toilet with valve open. Follow this with 1 scoop Happy Camper odor reducer dissolved in gal of warm water. The Calgon & Dawn leave a film on sides of black tank to help reduced waste and TP from attaching. Also fill toilet bowl half full with water Before going #2 .
Richard yes these are the only to products we use in our black tanks. We have had great results by using them. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.
Mine is stationary 30' vintage. My tank must have build up inside. I don't think ice would work, the wand sprayer is a must for later, but for now I can see it filling in a few days where before would be two weeks for one person's use. There isn't any smell. Lived in it for four years, never had happen before. Is there a chemical solution to fix sludge buildup asap before snow arrives? Maybe a dyi fluid solution? Thanks, Aloha 🌺
I know this video was posted three years ago, so this comment comes along a little late, but may I suggest making sure the background music isn't too loud in relation to the narration? As it stands now, the "background" audio almost drowns you out, making what you're saying hard to hear.
Lent trailer to friend. They didn't drain black water tank. There was a loud noise and black water tank fell off trailer. What do we do to fix it? Also no longer loaning it to friend.
WOW!!! Sorry to hear about that. Looks like you will need some expensive work there. I would assume without seeing the trailer that the supports to the black tank rusted out and need to be replaced. hope it works out for you. Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy trails
After dumping we always put about five gallons of water into the bottom of the tank using the flush pedal, then add the chemicals. Never have had a solid buildup. If the rig isnt used in a couple of months, add a bit of pine sol to the water and chemicals. Pine smell is a lot better than waste smell!

What do you do with your black tank when not using it? Do you leave water and chemical in it? Or clean well and leave it dry?

The more pressure the better
So you can use dawn dishes soap and close washing liquid? I’m new to this
+rredwing1473 it’s. Allen’s the Geo method. Google it

What about in the winter. And the black tank is closed do you pour rv antifreeze down in the tank.
+Bobbie J you can do that. In the past we have added a work lamp with a non led light BULB in the wet area and it keeps the tanks from freezing. This works in our class “A”
@@3tailsRV _"...a non-LED light bauble...."_
Did you mean light BULB? 💡
I am going to be leaving my trailer stationary for the summer and not using! What should I do with my black and grey water tanks? Can you tell me the mixture of dawn detergent in what else to put in your tanks
we use Calgon, but you can you borax or liquid Oxy clean.
@@3tailsRV what mixture??
5 gallons water 1cup dish soap and one cup Calgon
Just having 5 to 10 gallons (depending on the size of the tank) of water in the black tank will help clean the black tank while driving down the road.
WOW Thanks for the tip..
good advice.

Where can I find the one you using on number #5?
There is a link in the description below
Is there away of connecting the tolet straight to the sweage ..?
Isabel Sassano I assume you mean to bypass the holding tank?
Yes that's what I meant...🤩
When do you use the Calgon and Dawn? Right after you empty it? And, how much of each?
Thanks for the video!
