  • Judge Mablean Ephriam, who presided over "Divorce Court" from 1999-2006 as the first star of the revived version of the show, returns to the courtroom genre with his half-hour series that deals with life and the law. The former Los Angeles-based prosecutor takes on the typical cases that are found on TV court shows. The arbitrator says that her show "will be life because everything we do, it involves the law."

The defendant knows full well that if a ball goes onto someone else's property and causes damage he's responsible. Many of us have had a window broken due to kids playing with baseballs, or even adults practicing golf with a net but they missed the net and broke a window. I can guarantee you the next time the plaintiff files a lawsuit it will be due to the defendant's children putting a dent on her car after missing the basketball court.

      Indeed..
And hopefully that judge won't say "well, you chose to live there, so you're at fault.."

The reason I say that the plaintiff is at fault for her wind shield being smashed is because the way her car 🚘 was parked the front of her car was in her driveway and the back part of her car was in the defendant’s driveway.

@@mackenziefrancis8047 That's not the way the law works. The point of impact and damage occurred on the plaintiff's property. For instance, what if only two inches of her car was on the defendant's property? Would you still say it's her fault?

It's the same as if you were playing baseball on your property and the ball ended up smashing someone's window, you have to pay for it. $2K for a wind shield, that's a little steep isn't it?

How does a 5 and 7 year old throw a ball hard enough to shatter a windshield? Not saying it didn't happen just saying is is less likely to actually happen. These made up cases are funny.

  • @bradmoore330

    Absolutely ridiculous verdict. 😅
That decision had nothing to do with the law and everything to do with the Judge playing "neighborhood watch."
Her windshield, which was on her property, was smashed due to his (son's) negligence.
She even admitted that even if the hoop was "on the other side of the driveway," he'd still be responsible, yet she chose to tell them "how to live," instead of properly addressing a very simple legal matter. 🙄
