Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. We are expressive by nature and are truly very quirky in every sense of the word. This is who we are and this is what we’ve got to offer. We understand it may not be for everyone, but here's to hoping you all enjoy and we absolutely love positive comments and feedback.

The Raven and HCE band was fabulous! Marco Minneman, Guthrie, Nick Beggs, Adam Holzmann, and Theo Travis. All of them World-Class.
The more I hear the more I love of his music. I admire the mix of styles in his pieces, his attention to perfection and his use of un-anticipated chord progressions. Pure genius.
When you were listening to Genesis and said, "It's a shame they don't make music like this anymore"
I commented "except for Steven Wilson's Raving that Refused to Sing album." This was one of the songs on it I was thinking of when I said that!......
Hi Hi NiknLex... Steven Wilson can do no wrong to my mind.. A true genius. Add to that Guthrie Govan's guitar virtuosity, and to be honest, what's not to like... Cheers Bob...
Soooo beautiful, TOP 3 of my personal Steven Wilson solo catalogue 🤘So touching, the guitars, the flute , the keyboard and Marco Minnemann on drums, definitely one of the best in Germany. And the vocals so full of feeling ... and then the increase, just WOW ... almost the perfect prog song .... and Steven's pose - just like a Messiah - which german music press called him, but he refused this "title" ...
Steven Wilson is always great live, but this was one of his best. And you are right, Guthrie is a beast. The whole band is great.
Hi Nick, wonderful indeed and an amazing line-up , these musicians are really top-notch.
The bass player here is your namesake Nick Beggs (bass guitar and Chapman stick). He played en plays in several bands, for example Kajagoogoo and The Mute Gods. And played a lot with legends like Steven Wilson and Steve Hackett. But I want to draw your attention to another band he plays in, the Belgian band Fish on Friday.
Maybe you and Alexia could find some time to react to their album Black Rain. It would even be better if you could make it a marathon, for example with the songs Life in Towns, Murderous Highland Highway and Diamonds. You will also hear Beggs' daughter Lula sing on this album, she's a very good singer. I think you will both like this band!
Absolute class
Quite intriguing and quite full of creepy melodies.
Seen SW on 4 different tours (Cardiff *2, Bristol and Royal Albert Hall, London) and every gig/tour just got better than the last - a real unforgettable 'live' experience.
And will be seeing Porcupine Tree in Wembley in November (having seen them once before on their The Incident tour back in 2009). I cannot wait.
Beautiful song from a beautiful album
That last bit was pretty Magma
Do you mean Marco Minnemann from my hometown Hannover where he was born, on drums?
Best band line-up he ever had.
freaking incredible....
Steven Wilson played with Marillion on tour.
Love it! Thanks for your reaction Nick
What a performance...😲
I've been very lucky to see Steven Wilson live , twice. As you would expect Nick, they are tremendous. Just another thought Nick, the Bass player Nick Beggs was in an '80's band called 'Kajagoogoo'. You might know their famous single 'Too Shy' here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/rkpG4XApJ28/v-deo.html
Who would have thought...? Beggs has become one Prog top musician.
The Raven is a prog masterpiece. Don't know if Guthrie will ever play with Wilson again because of the Marco fall out but they're all a match made in heaven.
This album is gold
Hey, primarily - just before watching/listening your vid' about this track from one of my favorite albums of all genres - , plenty of Good Vibes for Alexia ! 😎🤞🌈💪 (I know too well what it's like to have back problems 😵💫). Good luck and warm [canicular !!!] greetings from France again.
Fun Fact: Bassist Nick Beggs was originally in Kajagoogoo.
I'm really glad that Marco didn't join Dream Theater. Yeah, it would be interesting, but I'm happier that this lineup happened.
About Steven's commentary about shredding, he's really not into shredding. But Guthrie brings a world more thand shredding. Yes, there are fast and technical passages, but he puts so much weight on the phrasing, on the structure of the solo. Drive home, Ancestral, Regret #9, The Pin Drop solos all have so much musicality on them. There is beautiful phrasing on every on them. I see this comment by Steven more on the sense of that "mindless" shredding, scale-up and down. And if I remember well, this Watchmaker solo is the most shredding moment of him on the band.
Ah.. Steven has lots of things that he dislikes and he's vocal about that. I remember a time that he made some comment about Symphonic Prog and Flower Kings / Transaltantic, I don't remember exactly what it was, and it became some kind of beef with Roine Stolt.
I absolutely adore this whole album. Certainly one of the best prog rock albums ever conceived. Luminol is amazing. I love the nods to Van Der Graaf Generator I hear in the instrumentation, VDGG are my absolute personal favourite band OF ALL TIME. It's a toss up between them and Rush depends on the day
Hi Nick, yes Steven Wilson solo live is every bit as amazing as Porcupine Tree live....but P.T definitely have the edge with such a back catalogue. You mentioned Blackfield. I just bought "Open Mind ; The Best of Blackfield " A track called "1,000 People" gets to me every time. Great reaction to Genesis ...sorry I mean Jethro ...er ? Hang on ....Yes ...I'll get it in a minute ....erm ? ..... Byee Jim X
Nick DigiTech makes a pedal called Mosaic and it produces a simulated 12 string sound except the 1st and 2nd strings are octaves and not unison as a real 12 string is usually set up. I bought one and I love it. I also own a 12 string and use the Mosaic with it the sound is like a 24 string.
There is one thing they didn't include on the DVD disc with the Dream Theater drum auditions on "A Dramatic Turn Of Events". In an interview, Marco Minnemann said that it came down to 2 drummers, and they asked him how many Dream Theater albums he owned - and he answered "none". If they had picked him, there would be no Aristocrats, and I might not know about Guthrie. Maybe it was after doing the 5.1 mixes of the Aristocrats' "Boing We'll Do It Live" DVD that Steven Wilson knew that Guthrie could do more than shred - like the first quieter part of "Flatlands".
Glad you liked that - Steven Wilson concerts are fantastic (dare I say, even better than Porcupine Tree). As you loved this one, try Vermillioncore live at the North Sea Jazz Festival, it'll blow your mind. ua-cam.com/video/0PR7VA5nSr4/v-deo.html
P.S. Steven Wilson "was born in '67 - the year of Sergeant Pepper, and are you experienced?" (lyric from 'Time Flies' by Porcupine Tree)
Ha, Never “seizes” to amaze. Perhaps you meant “ceases” but “seizes” can work. Love those Nickisms! And great reaction as well.😇
Nick beggs of the 80s band kajagoogoo played bass on this concert, check him out he's also toured with Steve hackett
A este si q no lo conocia 😁 saludos desde 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷 comiendo un asadito en familia 👌💪🙋♀️🙋♂️👨⚕️ y la 👵🙄
If you like this, you should to react to Ancestral in Royal albert hall, same with Steven Wilson
Thanks Nick, I'm glad you enjoyed it! So jelly that you guys are going to see PT! I'm praying Wilson adds more North American dates to the tour, specifically the southeast. This for me though is SW's perfect band. Nothing against Richard Barbieri, Gavin Harrison, or any of the super talented artists he's worked with, but these guys together just hit differently. Guthrie Govan and Marco Minnemann obviously on guitar and drums are amazing in their own right, but Nick Beggs on bass and Chapman Stick, Adam Holzman on keyboards, and Theo Travis on flute are just perfect musicians for the composition.
There's a lot of great live footage of PT and SW solo out there, but sadly very little of this group of guys. Wilson's engineering prowess insured us some clean sounding live music, but he couldn't keep this talented group together. Marco and Guthrie obviously got too busy with The Aristocrats success, and now Wilson has resurrected most of the core group from PT.
I do hope you get time to share this with your wife, she seems to get as stoked about SW's work as you I and do. I know you're busy af and just wanted to say thanks for posting this so quickly. Have fun at your shows! Next stop for me is Slightly Stoopid in Key West. Another great band if you like the reggae. Oh and SW was born in 69 which would put him in his early 50s. The more you know lol, cheers!
Almost right, but according to the lyrics of ''Time Flies'' ( from ''The Incident''), his year of birth is a little less Freudian (69): ''I was born in '67. The year of Sergeant Pepper - and ''Are you Experienced'''.
@@tobyornotwhoopsie, thanks i knew that damn it lol
@@buddysaile973 I knew you knew!
Hey Nick! Great choice and reaction. Steven's comments on guitarists I believe had to do with shredders like Yngwie Malmsteen. For him, that style is more like acrobatics than music. Guthrie is of course so much more than that. Also, Wilson was born in 1967, he's got that young look doesn't he? Cheers!
Yes that’s the issue I have with some guitarists is that the million notes per second is all it is! Gilmour can express more emotion with one note - I initially thought Guthrie was going to be a similar million notes per second but he is such a skilled player with great intelligence and emotion.
If you have not, you both should just go ahead and listen on your own to the entire Raven That Refused to Sing album. It leaves one speechless and emotional. It may preclude you reacting to any other of its tracks but the experience is worth it!
The Raven is the best of his solo work ... close to perfectionism ... and Nicknlex have it... someone sent it, I don't remember who, but I was glad for them😄
Yes we will do the entire album soon. It's on our full album list for the year. We just did the lamb lies down on Broadway b Genesis
T R T R T S, is in collaboration with Alan Parsons 😍
Great response, with small flaws, but it doesn't matter, you will definitely fill in the information, and try Stevn's project No-man... I recommend, Steven always manages to surround himself with great musicians and he himself is an incredible instrumentalist, composer, producer... it's a god! !!
Steve is 53 years old.
Marco Minneman (drums) is a genius. I saw him in an all drummer's concert with two of my all time favorite drummers, Terry Ted Bozzio and Chad Wackerman, and came out with a new favorite to add to the list. If you look up the live video of the UK Reunion Concert with John Wetton and Eddie Jobson, he plays drums, and on In The Dead Of Night he somehow manages to sound like both Bill Bruford and Terry Bozzio as well as his own brilliant self. Check this out if you feel like it : ua-cam.com/video/Na4aBPLxf_w/v-deo.html
Firstly The Raven is an awesome album. But seeing as your taking requests I will for the 4th time ask again for Yes and ' The Gates of Delirium ' either from Relayer or the live video in Amsterdam with the Dutch Youth Orchestra.
Hey Lazarus thanks for watching! The requests are taken trough buy me a coffee and are currently sold out. Alexia and I are still working on about 30 videos that people requested and paid for. We usually start taking requests from the comment section after that. And it's hard to pick out a specific song from thousands of comments. I hope you understand 🤘
@@NicknLex Thanks for the reply but The Gates of Delirium has no equal in the prog world.
Please listen to The Invisible Man by Marillion. Another great song
No he was referring to doing a pop CD
He said that
I'm kinda
You don't always play Guitar
Its kinda played
So yes he was also taking about when Playing the Guitar
Know don't necessarily need to Shred
The Guitar to get the same Results as doing it slowly!!!
Something like that!!!
I wish I could play like this I got a fender strategy and a Yamaha box been trying for years I can play parts to songs but can't put it all together owell good reaction Aloha ps please play budgie the song panzer division destroyed thanks
Steven is 54. Just an FYI😄
Bigger screen is better for us viewers Thank You
Be careful... Steven Wilson does NOT like Genesis (or so he says, sounds incredible to me) lol but I agree with you, this song really sounds like Genesis a lot in the first part
Marco Minnemann
Ceases
Fixed
@@NicknLex Ha ha! Well done.
