    I got one of these today. I live in Japan, so the manual is in Japanese. I can more or less understand Japanese, but reading an instruction manual is something else. This video is a lifesaver!

    Cleaning the water container best done is by filling it up with " Cleaning Vinegar " and let sit for 1 hour. The vinegar will dissolve the calcifications that stains the container (from the water , in case you use a tap water ). After 1 hour, discard the vinegar and rinse the container extremely well with tap water that the smell of the vinegar will disappear.I do mine once every week , usually on may day off , Saturday morning.

    Very helpful! I learned so much about the machine, and I’ve had it 9 months already (and I’ve tried to read the manual- ugh). My machine started to have really high pressure in the past week, I’ve felt like I was being water-boarded except with too much air. This and the clinical settings have helped me to learn how to make it more comfortable, to understand the features and ability to adjust pressure, ramp, humidity, and so forth. Thank you so much!!!

      what's the most terrible about this piece of garbage is that they start shutting themselves off when they don't detect breathing in the patient. Funny how that goes, isn't a CPAP supposed to be designed to treat cessation of breathing episodes in a patient not finish them off for the undertaker?????????....... BTW my new CPAP tells me right away any and all information about my sleep, just turn the dial. The bad part is the two horrible dream stations I have used have given me such panic attacks about using CPAP from the episodes when I'd wake up covered in sweat desperately gasping for air that I no longer have my wonderful 100% compliance record. I have to really get myself psyched up to use one and it's not even a Freaky dream station. They became potential murderers and all they will admit is little particles from using their recommended ozone cleaners to disinfect them. Biggest medical blunder coverup of the century!!!!!!

    If you have a nightmare dream station bring it back to your DME(durable medical equipment) provider. I owned two of them and they BOTH shut off when they did not detect my breathing... you know... the very condition they were supposed to be designed to treat! I now suffer from anxiety and panic attacks over trying to use a different CPAP unit from all the times I woke up drenched in sweat and desperately gasping for air. I started with 100% compliance but now have trouble using CPAP at all because of the panic and anxiety.

    Hello. I'm having an issue with my Dreamstation. Whenever I have to wake up to go to bathroom I see that the machine “restarts” the therapy period again. For example; if I have to wake up 3 times at 1.5 hour intervals and then resume the therapy, the machine shows that last 1.5 hour period as my total therapy for the night. I'm just starting on this. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance for your kind help.

    I've only tried a couple of machines but this machine is great. Tried using it in manual mode ... why would you even try. The machine is so adaptive & smart, to get full advantage of the machine have to use auto mode. There's are adjustments to fine tune the auto made as well.
    BEWARE of providers, just like hearing aids, there are a lot of sharks out there under the guise of health professionals & large known companies. I paid a premium for the satisfaction of fitting & monitoring by a known company none of which equates to the price $2450 (newbie)

    I have this machine. I do have a major problem with it. I am
    legally blind, and I live alone. I cannot see well enough to read the menu. Has
    anyone considered adding speech to the machine? It could be done. My computer
    talks, so do all mobile phones and even some smart watches. Many elderly people who use these machines
    have low vision.
    The addition of speech would make the product accessible to
    many more people.

    Good machine but one thing that happened to me was i always would snap close the door on the water chamber until the spring broke and know one had a replacement for the spring. Just close it by pulling back the door and install water chamber and keeping finger on the door and slide it in to close. I had the machine for 3yrs so this does not happen quickly but when it does it is scary.

    Hi Nick, thanks for your last reply. Another question, i took away my dream station for a couple of days but last night my first night back it seemed to be blowing out cold air. I think the tube with the heat element is plugged in correctly. If it wasnt, you would probably hear air leaking out of it? I did forget to put water in it but my understanding is that wouldn't effect the heating of the air. thanks

      Get rid of your dream machine of death. THEY SHUT DOWN WHEN THEY DO NOT DETECT A PATIENT'S BREATHING. They are supposed to be designed to treat sleep apnea when the body isn't breathing while we sleep. But shutting off completely for the very symptom they are supposed to be treating is akin to murder. I now suffer from anxiety over using CPAP at all and I have a completely different model. It's a horrible thing to wake up repeatedly over and over night after night to be bathed in sweat and gasping for air because the machine turned itself off.

    I have a new DREAMSTATION and the way it changes tone, sort of wheezing whining as I inhale is annoying and problematic for me for going to sleep. The air runs smooth and then I inhale and it changes, wheezing, exahle, smooth the wheeze, smooth wheeze smooth with every breath. Is there any way to stop this?

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  4 роки тому

      G’day David, definitely try different settings of A-flex ( pressure relief ). The higher the number, normally means the greater the wheezing noise which is that weird breathing noise you can sometimes here as the pump changes between inhalation and exhalation pressures. Cheers mate

      I surely hope your dad has a different machine now because aside from these particles they claim they are recalling the machine for these "dream machines" are more like the nightmare on Elm Street. I had two within a few months of each other. I had 100% compliance. I was faithful to really use the machine! It kept turning off. I'd wake up in a horrible sweat and gasping for air. It was not particles but the fact the machine was designed to turn off when it didn't detect breathing. Sleep apnea is prolong periods when a person is not breathing when they are asleep.What kind of morons develop a machine to treat sleep apnea that shuts down when it can't detect the patient's breathing???? I now get nightmares when using cpap and I've had a whole different machine for over a year but I panic when trying to apply it. I used to use my cpap faithfully each night. I now have to force myself to use it. I think the particles they are recalling the equipment for is a story because literally the machine is a really bad design because of shutting down when it detects periods of apnea- the very thing it was supposed to be designed to treat. They just don't want to get sued. Of course they'll probably get away with it. Justice will come their way sooner or later.

      Hi Lionel, just turn your humidifier level on or up and the water should go down as it evaporates to steam (humification). Hi Marisa, please be careful in purchasing a machine at this point in the product cycle. Philips Dreamstation 1 has potential faults with the foam, the Dreamstation 2 is okay but not amazing, the Airsense 10 is about to be replaced by the AirSense 11. If you must get a machine right away i would suggest the SleepStyle by F&P. In regards to your question, it's not that important however it will be a bit more noisy right next to your head and also if you get condensation in the tube you might want to lower it closer to the ground (not on the ground as it's dusty down there!). I have been using a Auto PAP for many years. Until recently (when I had a double sided Turbinate Coblation procedure for my permanently congested nostrils, which it turn changed my life) I always had to have the STARTING pressure on 8cms because whenever I lay down, my nose was so blocked that the minor 4cm starting pressure was not enough to push through the congestion. Perhaps raising the starting pressure might help you too. Since having the coblation, my CPAP pressure averages 8cm H2o pressure and my STARTING pressure is now able to be 4cm H2o pressure. My prescription had been 11 until I had the coblation. Is your congestion a permanent condition? If so , perhaps see a ENT surgeon regarding addressing the congestion.

    I am not able to remove my tubing from the humidifier. I have the Dreamstation. There are little pin holes on some of the tubing as in this instructional video. Where the end of the tubing actually clicks in. The one that is currently on my machine is just soft rubber with no pin hole attachment. I have tried and tried to get this off and cannot for the life of me. I have twisted and pulled at the same time from the base and have not pulled on the tubing part as I'm sure it would tear off. Any advice on how I can remove it so I can put a new one on?

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  4 роки тому

      Hi Teresa, you can try heating up the rubber end using a hairdryer or disconnect the humidifier section and run it under hot water for a while. Heating it up should make it expand and also make it a bit more stretchy. Otherwise try getting a thing butter knife or screwdriver up between the rubber and the hard humidifier elbow and work it around 360 to try and lever it off. If you're still struggling, just get a stanley knife and cut it off or even a pair of scissor. Best wishes

      I was asking if it came with a heated tube, not for your advice? Like theres a reason why i bought the heated tube, Firstly, I like more warmer and humid air because I have nose issues and it feels more comfortable. Secondly, every time I wake up during midnight because of all the condensation splashing into my face and waking me up. I know I need one. I was just curious if it was just me that was given a regular tube instead of a heated one. reason is because if i didnt have to spend an extra amount of money on it and they basically switched out the heated tubing for a regular one and sold it to me, I could file a complaint.

However I'm baffled as to why on three different occasions I wound up with my face mask drenched with condensation. Hi Nice, very nice, informative videos, I saw all the 3 parts. I have a simple question:
    If the machine is adjusted properly then it is trying to get your AHI as low as it can, right?
    So the AHI above 10-11 indicates that the machine isn't adjusted, right? I've tried many diff. settings, and found out that i have a huge problem with the pressures above 12, which makes me press the ramp button again and again till i give up and remove the mask to fall in sleep again. So when I check the AHI the day after, it is always below 4-5, 'cuse the machine does NOT register when I don't wear the mask! Does it mean that the machine is not suitable for me? thanks, :-)

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Ben, if that's your simple question i would hate to hear your difficult one. If i was you i would forget about the AHI altogether and just focus on finding a setting that is comfortable. If a pressure above 12 causes you to take the mask off, set a max to 10 and go from there. To many people get caught up in all the data bullshit when at the day it's just a guide. The real trick is to make the therapy comfortable, get use to sleeping with it and then you can adjust the pressure later on once you have mastered sleeping with the unit. Cheers
