Excellent video. Thank you very much. I received my new DS2 after using a Dreamstation 1 for 5 years. I was plesantly surprised by the performance of the Dreamstation 2. The design of the reservoir and the fact that you can't open the reservoir without removing it is a big step backwards. Other than that it's ok. Wish they had just sent out Dreamstation 1 replacements without the foam though.
I just received this device due to the Phillips recall. I found your video very helpful in terms of the options available while using it. I have been using it now for a few weeks with pretty good results. Setting-up the Bluetooth was a bit of an issue, as the instructions to add the information on the card from the older device, didn’t transfer to DreamMapper. The DreamMapper will only use certain masks to record the data, so I have had to try several to find something I am comfortable with. That has been a good thing as I just watched your other video about discontinued masks. I have been wearing the same mask brand/style for 20 years, and it’s now history. My device came with the smaller heated tubing, and found I needed to increase the pressure to make it feel consistent with what I was experiencing before. Thank you for the information as it’s good to know a place where I can get answers quickly.
As others stated, this was a replacement for the recalled DS1. As Phillips did not include a manual, this video answered every question I had. thanks so much
Very valuable info, well presented. I appreciate the DreamStation 2 much more after watching your presentation. I agree with the comments that say the unit seems kind of cheaply made. As you mentioned, it would be easy to break off a plastic tab trying to open the reservoir without detaching it. Even the latch on the reservoir lid seems almost designed to be broken.
I have one of these machines and am brand new to CPAP. Never thought I could tolerate one. At the hospital during an overnight titration test, I felt like I was being waterboarded with air, like I was drowning in it. Thanks to the ramp settings, that is over. Just had my first night with it and went smoothly. My AHI was super low whereas before it was very high, so I guess it's working. Soooo quiet. Wife is delighted. Of the reviews I watched, yours is quite good at explaining various elements. Thanks for that. Was looking for that Flex setting info. Man, the comments are unkind but much of 'em seem very nitpicky. How hard is it to pull out the reservoir? Seemed awfully easy to me but maybe if someone is laden with arthritis it would be a concern. I had no trouble and can put a 16oz bottle of distilled water in the nightstand drawer. The small size means I can take it with me for work travel. Anyway, I just needed a good starter machine and, since I just got thru my first night with success, I'm quite pleased to say the least.
Loved your video. I have a dream station 2 and somehow the option to change the PSI disappeared, and went down to 5, when I needed 10 PSI. I was thrilled that I could find in your video how to change the setting, I didn't have to bring my machine into town to my lung Dr and have him change the PSI back up.. I was happy that I could fix it, and not to have to call my daughter to fix it. Thank you for your video.
Will be gettingDreamStation2 delivered tomorrow, as a replacement for recalled DreamStation1. Fantastic presentation and thank you excellent presentation. I think I will like this updated model.
Terrific video to help me get started w/Dream Station 2. I have had the Dream Station before, and the instructions I got for DS 2 were lacking, like how to take off and wash the tank. Thanks for the great instructions!
I like the Dreamstation 1. On Dreamstation 2, every breath you take can be heard, the air coming in through the filter holes is not quiet. I like viewing the graph on version 1 to see how much rest that I got when I shut it off. No pre-heat function on version 2. Although it looks nicer, it’s not an upgrade in my opinion! I was forced to take this one due to the recall on the older one. I’m not very happy with this one. Resmed Airsense 10 would be a better choice, outside of the Dreamstation 1.
Same here in Australia too Justin. Retail outlets washing their hands. No notifications to consumers. Have registered my Dreamstation but no confirmation via email that device recall registration has been received. Also this Dreamstation 2 is not affected by this recall as a different sound deadening component is used. So my question is how long have Philips Respironics known of this issue? Given the time to develop and have a new CPAP device approved, I have serious misgivings. I found out about the recall on a TV current affairs investigative program! Pathetic treatment of consumers!
I got mine last week i have no problems cus i don't use the humidifier never like it I have a humidifier in my room People scaring people every machine the comes out they open online risking peoples life So people stop using the dream station 2 health is important Use ur machine people thanks for ur review people should listen to you
Just got mine this week due to the recall. So far it works ok. I like the sleek look but I didn't mind the medical equipment look of the first model, because it is a medical device. Takes up less room on my nightstand. The replacement filters I bought are now useless and the new ones are more expensive. I liked the previous removable water tank. This one is kind of a pain to remove and install. It feels fragile, I'm concerned I'll break it. The touchscreen is somewhat frustrating to use but once you have it set up it's not an issue. It doesn't really matter if I like this one better or not as long as it works.
Did your dream station 2 have all the features he talked about? I got mine due to the recall as well, but it didn’t come with a lot of the available settings like the ramp, humidity, and flex setting
@@jonathanparra9082 Yes, they are there. It's not obvious where and how to change the settings. Some have sub menus or can only be changed from a certain screen. I had to watch several videos. It doesn't help that the "touch screen" is finicky at best.
Just received my new DreamStation 2 as part of the recall. I was pleased that it came more quickly than I anticipated. Thanks for the helpful video. I t was very helpful getting the unit set up. I look forward to future videos.
Thank you for a very informative video, much more useful than what Philips provides. We just received my husband's recall replacement DS2 a few days ago and have been working through all the instructions etc in order to try it out for the first time tonight. I understand the chief complaint of so many people about the inconvenient humidifier, but am hopeful we can live with that. However, I am wondering about a couple of things related to cleaning the machine, which is my part of the operation. Someone asked about how to clean (or should we be concerned about) the passageway that runs back through the machine from the humidifier to the air outlet port for the tubing. It is indeed much longer than the "passage" on the original Dreamstation. Is there any better answer than "well, if you just clean all the rest of the machine daily as Philips recommends you won't have a problem"? Frankly, we never cleaned the old DS humidifier daily, just weekly with vinegar and distilled water, and never had a problem. I am willing to wash the darn humidifier every day or every other day if necessary. However, this longer passageway does concern me. Any thoughts? Also, the Philips instructions just tell you to wipe off the "humidifier air inlet/outlet seal" daily with a cloth dampened with a little mild cleaning solution. I've tried that already and it's pretty hard to get into the nooks and crannies of that seal while it's in place, so I'm a little worried about how sanitary it will be. I saw one other review on the internet that mentioned removing it to wash but it didn't show how to remove. Do you have any insight on whether this is possible or a good idea? Thanks again for this video, and any thoughts about my questions.
Thanks for watching. The only thing that I could potentially recommend would be a tube brush. Link below. But, you still should use any chemicals inside there. The only other option would be a CPAP Ozone Cleaner, but you should use your own judgement to decide if that is a good plan for you. Links to everything below to help. cpapmyway.com/store/cpap-tube-brush cpapmyway.com/blog/use-soclean-cpap
1) It's a fingerprint magnet 2) Can't use it without the bulky reservoir, not travel-friendly 3) Can't open the reservoir without removing it (you also noticed it) 4) Can't re-orient the air port 5) Can't take the SD card out without removing the reservoir 6) More complicated reservoir which is harder to clean 7) Humidifier latch is based on flexing plastic, will crack and snap off at some point 8) Modem cannot be removed / disabled Summary: cost optimized design intended for growth markets (developing economies a.k.a. the third world), not the US or Europe in particular
Very good points Ceb - but the presenter said that you could disable the modem via programing (who's right?). In the Dreamstation 1, I just took the modem physically out (don't want radiation going on regular). Hope the new Resmed is an improvement, not a plus and minus features scenario like the new DS2. Truly is a shame Philips as your previous System One and Dreamstation 1 unit were very good and solid anmd looked good - two steps forward and one back
This does look like a cheap, poorly designed unit - definitely a step backwards from the Dreamstation I, but maybe it won’t give you lung cancer. My next unit won’t be a Philips.
This! Who cares about a smaller hose. So many quality of life steps backwards. I'll wait until my cancerstation 1 is replaced with a Resmed. Good channel but this review was way to kind to PR.
9. Hose is not heated which is a huge step back from modern cough cpaps. 10. DEAL BREAKER, not ADA compliant for the visually impaired/blind. The touch menu is completely inecessable denying privacy for the patient as nothing can be changed or confirmed as correct making the patient dependant to others. 11. DEAL BREAKER, not compatible with OSCAR due to the encryption on the SD card. No idea known if this encryption will be cracked for OSCAR usage. 12. Speaking of the SD card, machine won't work without that original card, the encryption key is on that card, think UEFI from Intell chips, so don't lose it. I'm going to try to see if I can get a refund as this machine is a nogo for me.
I received my DreamStation 2 as a replacement by my doctor after the recall of the DS1. Two issues I have found. 1. The water tank is smaller and starting the first night, on humidifier setting 3, the default, it ran out of water. On the DS1, level 5, I never ran out of water before I awoke. 2. There is no longer a pre-heat feature which very handy in the winter months. As for your comment about ramp settings not available on the DS1, there was access in the advanced settings. Now, on the first DS1, you enter advanced settings on the basic menu. On my second DS1 they removed the advanced menu access. However, I eventually figured out how to get into the advanced menu on the newer edition. As a side note, it only took me 1 minute to get into the advanced settings of the DS2.
Thank you so much for sharing the new Respironics Dream Station 2 I just received my new device because my precious device was recalled. It tool awhile to receive it but I'm glad it's finally here. Your video is so informative and I wouldn't have known how to navigate it as quickly as I did without your help. I've been using the Dream Station 1 for 5 years and was experiencing some serious issues after using it for 3 yrs. I had upper respiratory infections and eye infections from using my old CPAP. I'm hopeful that this new one will be much better. I am part of a class action lawsuit but I'm not really wanting to proceed with it if this machine works. I will get it set up today and I thank you for your video. I feel more confident about setting it up now. It does seem much easier than the Dream Station 1.
I recently received my replacement DreamStation 2. I am quite impressed with the new design and features. My question is what is the advantage of the heated tubing over the regular tubing. Thanks for your informative video.
Glad that you are enjoying the DreamStation 2 CPAP. The heated tube will allow you to add the maximum amount of humidity without having condensation issues inside the tubing.
I prefer the Dreamstation 1 (DS1). The humidifier tank design is harder to use on the DS2. Harder to get out and more flimsy. Overall the DS2 appears to be more cheaply made. The tube connection angle is fixed. It could be rotated on the DS1. The button is harder to press from your sleeping position. Sometimes it spits water out through the tube (when you fill it up to the line). It often runs out of water by morning (The DS1 also has this problem). It is a little quieter than the DS1. But overall I like the DS1 better. Looks like they rushed the design of the DS2.
Thank you. I would be very interested to know how many hours of usage is it until the "reached capacity hours alert/warning indicator comes on? Thank you for the video. I received my DreamStation 2 yesterday and became overwhelmed at trying to set it up. You made it soooo easy. Cannot thank you enough. I almost got frustrated and sent it back. Sooooooo glad I found this video. Having to disassemble the machine to fill up the chamber does not make sense as the little pins in the back are so small and I'm thinking got to be extremely cautious when removing the water chamber and replacing it.
Youa re very welcome for the DreamStation 2 Video. Glad that you found it helpful. The usage hours is not something that I have any info on unfortunately. The DreamStation 2 is supposed to last at least 5 years. So hopefully that helps.
Finally after two year recall I got this device March 2023. I've been having a hard time with it, like someone mentioned, I felt overwhelmed with air, to the point I couldn't breath, then in the middle of the night the machine was pumping water all over the place and was making this awful air pressure noise. I truly miss the dream station1. Hopefully your tips will help me to get to the bottom of the issues. BTW, this DS2 came without the heated tubing, and that has been another therapy nightmare for me. I guess I will survive!
Good Luck! Hope that you get it dialed in soon. Below is a link to the DreamStation 2 heated tube in case it comes down to you needing one. cpapmyway.com/store/disposable-cpap-parts/tubing/dreamstation-2-heated-tube
I just used my new DreamStation 2 last night. At first, I thought I wasn't getting as much airflow as I'm used to having and not knowing how to adjust it, I just left all the settings as is. I really did not notice any difference between this and the other DreamStation that was recalled. I see what you mean about the reservoir being a pain to handle vs. the other one. But I like that it takes up less space and the tote bag is smaller and the whole thing lighter and so I prefer that.
I received a Dreamstation 2 in the recall process of my original machine. Some of the features you show are not turned on (in my unit). Glad I watched. I just tried to capture my first report (90days) for DOT purposes. Data is not showing that far back, and SD card shows corrupt when using the recommended reader. I am getting the run around from Phillips.
Thank you so much for a wonderful video. I just got my new DS2 today and have it set up thanks to you. Will be anxious to try it and compare to DS1. One thing I’m not happy about already is the water reservoir..very awkward and inconvenient.. read out is very techy…could have been a larger format for us older folks… touch screen not great for big fingers and older people. But I will give it a try and hope for the best.
Nice video. However, with the air passing through the machine from the reservoir, how do you clean the air passageway from the reservoir to the tube attachment site on the front of the machine?
That might be the best question so far. I am going to speak with Respironics today and get their recommendation. I've got my ideas on that, but let me get you the official answer before my opinion.
So according to Respironics that passageway does not need regular cleaning as long as you keep the water reservoir clean. That means emptying the chamber and cleaning it daily, as well as a weekly deep clean that can be done in the top rack of the dishwasher. My opinion is similar. If you empty the chamber daily and allow it to air dry, you should have very little issue. This is a similar setup to the airsense cpap from resmed, and we haven't had any issues with the cleanliness of that CPAP passageway over the years.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. I just got this replacement for my partner. It's my responsibility to set it up. I love the way it looks and the size is great, but filling it with water is a little infuriating (I need to turn on the bright lights and throw on a pair of reading glasses). Yours seems very quiet. Ours is very loud, much louder than the old one.
Yeh the humidifier system on that DreamStation 2 is not an upgrade. If it s loud, you may want to double check all the new connections and humidifier seal. We have not had feedback to indicate that the DreamStation 2 is loud at all. You are welcome for the videos. Good Luck.
Thanks for the video. The set up info Philips provided was not complete. Your video cleared up my issues. I too do not like the water tank set up. There is no way to check if the tank is empty . And it is easy to spill water ( on my nice wood night stand). I have never had water problems with 3 other CPAP machines. I do like that the water tank can be washed top rack in a dishwasher........
Hi CPAPmw - can u tell me where the air intake area is (I know where the filters are but how does the air get in to the filters?)- it did not seem obvious in your video? Is there another filter on the air intake area also? What new material are they now using for sound abatement material, especially considering it appears much quieter?
Received my DreamStation 2 a few weeks ago. I like the fact that it is smaller and quieter. But...there are a few flaws in its design. The water chamber is a pain in the ass...First of all, it is smaller and after about 7 hours of sleep, it's empty. Filling the chamber is alleyways a mess as water spills always. My biggest disappointment is that with this new machine, I can't use my SoClean (unless there is a way and I haven't figured it out). The previous DreamStation, had the water chamber just below the hose attachment, so the adapter for the SoClean with its small hose could fit right in and do its job, every morning....Now...there is no way that I can see, for the SoClean to be hooked up. Anyway...not really thrilled with it but it works I suppose. Roberto
Great presentation. I just got my DS2 due to the recall. I don't really use the humidifier but it was good to see how this machine assembles. Here's hoping for good night's sleep.
The system one was designed much better! What were they thinking??? The filters are INSIDE so now there will be dust build up at the intake holes. The touch screen is HORRIBLE, not very responsive at all. Humidifier design is awful, and the machine can’t be operated without it. The tubing connection is on the front and fixed in place unlike the system one which was on top and swiveled. I’m very disappointed
Agree with your points. I liked being able to NOT use the humidifier if I did not want it and often traveled without it. Now for travelling it is more bulky! There are some better features like the heated tubing, but I am disappointed as well!
Agree with everything. Also, the snap-on lid to the humidifier cannot be separated for cleaning. There is a spring mechanism inside so possibly it's not meant to be separated. But, will bacteria grow on the underside of the lid?
I was just informed today that that is what I am getting to replace my Dreamstation that is being recalled. A little nervous about it but I'm sure once I get used to it that all will be well! Thanks for the video!
Have you gotten it yet? I switched to resmed and I just can’t get a good nights sleep with it. Considering buying the 2 if it breathes like the dreamstation 1.
Looks like a cheap piece of junk. Also, the touchscreen does not look very responsive. Another big problem, if you opt not to use the humidifier, you still have the footprint of the humidifier making your machine unnecessarily larger. Other than the removal of toxic foam, this looks like a downgrade on DS1.🤨
How long is the wait time to receive the new machine . I registered my machine in July, 2021. I stopped using the old recalled machine last week . I was getting sick, several sinus infections. Thank you the video was informative .
We have seen customers of ours receive theirs about 3 months after registration. I do not know if that will be typical or if everyone will vary. But they are moving. Philips told us last week that they are moving 50k CPAPs per week in the recall effort.
@@CPAPmyway That agrees with my experience, registered in June and got the device today. Only found out from the FedEx notification of something from Respironics coming two days ago.
On my Dreamstation 1, I would remove the back, attach my hose and turn it on to dry my washed hose quickly. I also liked when traveling that I could leave the tank and just carry the smaller portion of the unit when tight on space. Can I do either of these with this newer unit? Thank you for your videos and help. Must appreciated.
You are correct, best cpap I've ever owned. Have been through about 5 over the years and use them every night and this is my favorite. It's the lightest and quietest. Great demo
i Just got my replacement Dream Station 2. The tubing end that goes into my machine is different than the one i had before. When medical supplies calls for my order will they know which tubing to send me. Also do i need to register my new machine if so where would i go to register it. I found watching this video very helpful,
Gad that you got your new DreamStation 2. I know a lot of people are still waiting. They should know what to send you, but if not you would need to tell them that you are using the new DreamStation 2 tubing when they call for supplies. You do not have to register your new DreamStation 2 CPAP.
Thanks for the information on the Dreams 2 auto Advance Cpap. Never knew about the green Filter to go inside the grey filter. Thanks for the video. Juanita Holloman
If you don't want to use the water can just use it without the back portion like the old dreamstation. The old one has a detachable humidifier so you can use it with or without the whole detachable back portion. Is it the same with dreamstation 2?
I like the review. Some of things i wish you would have covered were how to change the settings without a provider and also if you recommend it over the old dream station. The reason for this is some people don’t have insurance and fixed there apnea on there own. For me it took trial and error with mask and pressure. Also diligence to get used to it but since someone taught me how to change the settings on my own my api is down to a .8 when it was 17.
Thank you for watching and for the feedback. We will probably release a video on those details soon for the DreamStation 2 CPAP, because you are not the only one to ask.
Have read that when the power button is long pressed it will begin blinking, continue to press while swiping the menu button from top to bottom at the same time. That should give access to the clinical settings.
The only thing I don’t like is that if you don’t use the humidifier, you can’t omit the tank and enjoy the benefit of having a much smaller unit on the nightstand and also the ease of traveling….or am I missing something? Will it work without the tank attached?
The Humidifier on the DreamStation 2 is integrated so you must have the chamber in there for now. I am sure that there will be a bypass for it, but it will not change the dimensions at all.
Just got my replacement yesterday, have not used it yet, wanted to watch some videos before setting it up and using it, Thanks for this one. My first out of the box impression is the humidifier is going to be a big pain in the butt. I use my cpap an average of 8 hours a night with the humidifier on the highest setting, 5, to somewhat avoid cottonmouth (I use full face). As such I always need to top it off in the middle of the night when I get up to go to the bathroom or it will run dry. That's not good, the smell of warming plastic stinks, pun intended. with my original dreamstation the refill is easy and can be done with one hand while half asleep. My other complaint is the location of the info screen, I could always read the original while still laying in bed. When I wake from time to time I like to see what pressure I am getting, a simple press of the big knob gave me that info, could also adjust settings while laying in bed as needed so I didn't wake fully because of physically getting out of bed. As a few others have said, I see this unit as a big step backwards, while it may "look" nicer to some, I personally care more about being user friendly than how it looks, and without even using it yet, it appears it isn't. On another note, I'm hoping I can simply pop the SD card out of the original and use it in the new one, no real info on that here. Thanks again for the video, now off to watch some others.
Thank you for all the great input on the DreamStation 2. You can use that old SD card. You may want to download it first if you want the original Data because it will write overtop of the old data.
Nice simple presentation, thanks. I have been using the old DreamStation for a few years. Now I have a new DreamStation 2. I want to start using the new machine. In your presentation, you did not mention anything about what to so with chip. Do I take the chip from the old machine out and insert in the new machine? Would it adjust all the parameters automatically, or do I need to note down the settings from my old machine and manually set those on the new machine? Also, it would be helpful if you provide instructions on how to set up and use the App. I am assuming it is necessary to use the App.
Thanks for watching! The new machine should come with the settings preset for you. You can put the SD card in the new unit, but it will overwrite all the old data with your new data from the new CPAP. The SD card is just there to manually move the data if your internal cell modem is not working. App is not necessary, but most find it useful.
Yes on both. The Humidifier adjustment is in the Patient level menu and can be turned off. The Auto Off function is in the Clinical Menu level. The DreamStation 2 has an Auto on and an Auto off feature available there.
@@CPAPmyway thanks. I was able to turn the humidifier off but I cannot find where in the clinical settings you enable auto off. Can you provide guidance? Thanks again
@@CPAPmyway Clay, According to Philips the only way to turn auto on or off is through Philips Care Orchestrator to which user don't have access. Perhaps you do and can offer accurate advice.
So if you see 4 bars (similar to a cell phone) the device automatically sends data to your doctor's office without any action from you or your actual cell phone? 5:58
Great video presentation & run-through! Is there an app that You can download to control the settings from an android cell phone? If so, could You tell Me what the app is????🤔
You do not have to use the humidifier on the CPAP. If you get dried out then you should use it. But if you are using it without water in the chamber, and you have not had any dryness issues, then you can use it without the humidifier.
Great video for me to get started with my new DS2. But if you haven't already, can you do a video that explores the Settings in more detail & why you might want to adjust them.
@@CPAPmyway I hope you finally received yours. I gave up and figured my replacement request got lost in the deluge. Anyway, out of the blue mine finally came last week after a year of sending in the info!
I travel extensively and don't use the water chamber or heater. Is there a way to remove the tank from my unit to reduce the footprint? If I take the water tank off it just blows out the back side. The last CPAP would operate without the water tank attached thus making it more compact and easily transportable. Other than lighter weight my old unit had a smaller footprint.
Great video, thanks so much! Would love to see a video, or add to the current one, about proper cleaning. Is vinegar and water no longer the preferred cleaning method?
I had a recall on my old CPAP machine that I never could adapt to. Philips replaced it with a DreamStation 2. I have never used it. My question: I want to sell the DreamStation 2 unit and would like to know what would be a reasonable asking price. Thank you for your informative video.
I am really not sure about selling it to someone else. Everyone settings are different. You can email us directly for a purchase quote from us. cs@cpapmyway.com
Thank you. This was great information. I just got mine today. Question: is there a new app for this machine? Or will it sync to the current app I’m using?
The explanation was well done. I had no idea about the heating tube. That was not included in the recall replacement. At least I don't have the different hoses. Is the heating engaged by plugging in the hose designated as the heater hose?
Is a So Clean machine compatible with the Dream Station 2? If so, how is it connected? I found your demonstration of the new C-Pap very helpful. Thank you!
Glad the demo was helpful. To use the SoClean with the DreamStation 2 you would need to use a standard soclean adapter and standard CPAP tubing. Ill put a link to the adapter below for you. cpapmyway.com/store/soclean-2-humidifier-adapter
Very happy I didn't wait for Philips to replace my DS 1 or old System One and went with a ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset instead. The Airsense humidifier is much easier to handle, the machine is quieter than even my System One (I'm VERY sensitive to noise) and I never got better numbers. You didn't mention that the DS 2 data is encrypted. I've been on CPAP 12 years and took charge of my own therapy (with my doctor) and having access to full data via the Oscar app is essential for me. The DS 2's data being encrypted prevents that. For me that made it a non starter. Glad the machine is quiet. I had tried to replace my aging System One in 2019 with a DS 1 I purchased out of pocket and tried to use it for 6 weeks but I could not get used to the loud motor whine (even having the supplier replace the first unit I got with another one that was even noisier than the first) so I went back to my 10 years old Remstar System One. So I was already frustrated with Philips before the recall. And now they come back with a DS 1 successor that's clearly a huge step back in several respect: humidifier is harder to handle and fill and harder to clean, hard to use controls that most other videos mention, hose connector awkwardly placed and with no swivel or any adjustment and last but not least, the encrypted data). Others also mention the casing is easy to scratch, shows fingerprints very easily and feels cheaply made. My nealrly 12 years old System One still looks new. My DS1 too and other than the noise (and foam!) it was a great machine. So I'm happy I got the ResMed instead. Fantastic machine in all respects. Personally, I'm done with Philips.
i was given the DS2 on loan while my DS1 IS BEING REPAIRED WHICH WILL TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS by Air Liquide as a replacement for the DS1 only a few days a go. And I think the DS1 was a better machine. more solid and user friendly and had dual capability with either the water tank or not also the swivel nozzle adapter feature was better. however now i have a trust issue with the Phillps brand it used to be a market leader on the last century but not any more. there is a real possibility that I will return to Res MED their air sense 10 was a better machine it felt solid well made and relaible if somewhat expensive here in Ireland. By comparison this new DS2 looks and feels cheap and resembles a cassette recorder from the past. still i will give it the benefit of the doubt for a time until my next sleep study has been completed. thanks for the video it is very informative.
Thanks for the instructional video and comments. Rather than toss more comments about the good and the bad I have a SERIOUS question related to the white gasket in the MAIN unit that mates up w/ the hard plastic discharge coming from the water chamber. Cleaning is a major issue and all parts seem to have been addressed with cleaning methods. The presenter in this video points out the small corners in the plastic discharge that you don't want to become dirty. BUT OUT DOES ONE CLEAN THE VERY DETAILED SOFT PLASTIC GASKET (FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD) ON THE MAIN UNIT? As I'd think that is a GREAT area for mold/mildew build up? Thanks? Input/Comment?
Great point. It can be wiped down for sure with a rag, but you would not want to use harsh chemicals on it for sure. I will ask for a more formal recommendation from Philips.
@@CPAPmyway Thanks for the rapid response. BUT? The soft rubber gasket in question has two sides, a top, a bottom and a backside. None of which can be touched/cleaned w/ a rag. Surely it can be removed for cleaning?? Thanks
I haven't used it yet. I have to set it up but what I have read is that it is loud to use while sleeping with the breathing. So that would interfere with "sleep".
Thanks for the input on the DreamStation 2 CPAP. I would be interested to hear what you think about the noise level once you use it. We haven't had ANY performance related negative feedback on this CPAP so far.
can the dream station 2 advanced be run without attaching the water tank, also, my SD card from dream station 1 does not seem to fit in the 2 advanced model, by that I mean, when it is inserted in 2 model, it does not seem to stop but continues to go in more than it should and than can hardly be removed
Great video. Just received and set up my DS2. I am unable to get to the settings you illustrate on your video. I press settings and I get device, but no comfort settings to adjust. Is it a defect or am I doing something wrong?
If you have used the old DS, which comes with an SD card, and must have your data and settings stored. Once you put your SD card into your new device, it will repopulate your settings machine.
I understand the feedback for sure. I think that the goal of the DreamStation 2 humidifier was to keep people from filling it while still in the CPAP. People were constantly overfilling the DreamStation humidifier which cause the water to run out onto nightstands and into the heater plate. With this new design there would have been the possibility of that overfilling resulting in water inside the CPAP machine. But again, I completely understand what you mean. The DreamStation has been a great CPAP for a long time now.
@@CPAPmyway thanks... My wife uses the Dreamstation. I just like the way it fills. You can open the compartment and at least according to Phillips you can fill it without removing it. Since it is completely isolated from the motor unit. I use a resmed and actually like it better 😂
I use an oxygen concentrator, which is attached to the tubing by a small insert, so the oxygen tube can be popped on. How can I use the new tubing, which plugs in where that insert currently goes? Also, thanks for showing where the SD card slot is. That & where & how the power cord plugs in were the two things that originally stumped me. Got it all set up now, yay!
You should be able to attach your oxygen bleed in at the connection between the mask and the CPAP tube. Of course then you have to pull two tubes around with you. The only other option would be to ditch the heated tubing and go to a standard tube. I have a video that demos this pretty well. Thanks for watching and glad the video was helpful! Link to oxygen video below. ua-cam.com/video/HQL2me_2wgM/v-deo.html
The video is very well done...the Dreamstation 2 not so much. Got it courtesy of the recall. Humidifier is very difficult for someone with tremors. Adjustments for airflow are problematic, but better now thanks to your video. Screen is ridiculously difficult to read and the DS2 has no portability whatsoever. I'm dumping the Dreamstation 2 and getting a ResMed AirSense 10 or 11.
Thank you for the kind comment. We do have airsense 10 and 11 in stock if you are really interested. Links below for reference. cpapmyway.com/store/cpap-machines/auto-cpap-machines/airsense-11-auto-cpap cpapmyway.com/store/cpap-machines/auto-cpap-machines/resmed-airsense-10-autoset-cpap-1
I would recommend that same thing to hookup the soclean to the DreamStation 2. I would think that they would make an adapter for it in the future that would get the ozone closer to the humidifier.
I received mine from the recall. Your video is nice. Thank you for doing it. The machine is not good. I can’t just add water from the top. I have to remove the humidifier, then open a top that completely detaches, and then put everything back together. Just inconvenient. The black color is probably intentional so we don’t see the black pieces of insulation falling apart like we could see on the white previous model. The tube on the front don’t swivel like the previous. It is stuck facing forward. Another inconvenience. It does not feel like having the same pressure. I will have to buff it up. The humidifier is also very small. Won’t allow 10 hrs of sleep on the weekends. So far, I don’t like it.
How do you make the light go off after turning off the machine? My husband used the new Dreamstation 2 last night, and turned it off while it was still dark this morning. The light never shut off -- so just wondering how to fix that. Also, he tried to use the new smaller tubing, but it didn't connect to his mask, even with the adaptor. Is there another adaptor that might work? Thank you!
You have to unplug it which is a pain. So my husband got a Wireless Remote Control for indoors. Lowes sells them. Mine is a Prime #0141479. So far it is working great. It cost $20.98.
Is the foam guaranteed safe? I saw another video in which they took the replacement cpap apart and the foam crumbled. I noticed breathing issues after using DS1 and I’m concerned.
I just got mine today to replace the recalled one. I don’t see any of the settings you are talking about. How do you turn them back on?not sure I’m going to like this. I liked the graph on the front of my dream station.
You have to enable the detailed reporting from within the Clinical Setting menu. I have a link to that for you here. ua-cam.com/video/D1uhD42aP9I/v-deo.html
I have a dream station two and I’d like to know whenever it’s not in use. There’s a blue light ever go out from around the circle. That’s on the power button it glows at night
I am glad that the experience has been good on the DreamStation 2 so far. Thank you for the input.
Agree, opening that reservoir is a annoying. Have to turn machine completely around so as not to break it.
I received the revised version of DreamStation 1. So happy I didn’t get the new one. Love the 1, also looks like a proper medical machine.
@@Stardustparadise418 I agree. I'm still planning on replacing my 1's chamber with a foamless one so I can start using it again. 👍🏻
Yeah I don't get why people are complaining, I find it easier to use during sleep than the old DS.
Thanks for watching!
My first CPap! Right on time🙂 It's super quiet. Still getting to know it.
Nice!
As others stated, this was a replacement for the recalled DS1. As Phillips did not include a manual, this video answered every question I had. thanks so much
I am super glad that we could help you on the DreamStation 2 CPAP.
@@CPAPmyway do I have to use Bluetooth
Very valuable info, well presented. I appreciate the DreamStation 2 much more after watching your presentation. I agree with the comments that say the unit seems kind of cheaply made. As you mentioned, it would be easy to break off a plastic tab trying to open the reservoir without detaching it. Even the latch on the reservoir lid seems almost designed to be broken.
Thanks for the input.
have watched you videos on the dream station 2 and every time i watch them find more information , thank you
Glad you like them!
Thank you for the feedback. Great to hear that you are doing well on the DreamStation 2. We really like this CPAP.
Any update
Where can you get a 16oz bottle of DISTILLED water?
It’s almost too light!!! To easy to pull off of nightstand.
Happy to help. Thanks for watching.
Will be gettingDreamStation2 delivered tomorrow, as a replacement for recalled DreamStation1. Fantastic presentation and thank you excellent presentation. I think I will like this updated model.

@@jackrandom4893 Yes the DreamStation 1 Tubing will connect to the DreamStation 2 CPAP.
Can I use my soclean machine with the new unit?
Terrific video to help me get started w/Dream Station 2. I have had the Dream Station before, and the instructions I got for DS 2 were lacking, like how to take off and wash the tank. Thanks for the great instructions!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for the DreamStation 2 cpap feedback.
I’m so glad I received the revised version of the dreamstation 1. It’s so much better and I love the old water tank system.

How?
Ive registered and called many times.. and its chaos over there.. They have no clue and I was told it could be up to a year. =)
@@justinmickatavage7838 My supplier said they don't expect new machines until September, at the earliest.
Guess again
Just set mine up as a replacement to my Cancerstation 1. Seems like a pretty decent machine.

Thank you for the feedback on the DreamStation 2.

I just received my replacement CPAP DreamStation 2 today. The video was very helpful.
Great to hear!
1) It's a fingerprint magnet
2) Can't use it without the bulky reservoir, not travel-friendly
3) Can't open the reservoir without removing it (you also noticed it)
4) Can't re-orient the air port
5) Can't take the SD card out without removing the reservoir
6) More complicated reservoir which is harder to clean
7) Humidifier latch is based on flexing plastic, will crack and snap off at some point
8) Modem cannot be removed / disabled
Summary: cost optimized design intended for growth markets (developing economies a.k.a. the third world), not the US or Europe in particular
Thanks for the input.
Thank you for the input on the DreamStation 2 CPAP.
Any recommendations for cleaning. You mentioned in the video top shelf dishwasher safe?
Thanks for the input
@@CPAPmyway Get rid of the Dreamstation 2, it looks like the new foam also causes cancer.
Just got mine today. I'm so ready to get a good night sleep
Glad to hear that. Good Luck!
Thank you for the great input.
I have a VERY hard time getting the water tank in and out of the DS2 😢
And the DS1 allows you to adjust the menus. This video gives the impression it can't be done.
Thanks for the walkthrough of the DS2. Just got mine as the Philips recall solution of the defective DS1 finally arrived.
You are welcome. How do you like the DreamStation 2 so far?

@@CyrusLi yes
Finally after two year recall I got this device March 2023. I've been having a hard time with it, like someone mentioned, I felt overwhelmed with air, to the point I couldn't breath, then in the middle of the night the machine was pumping water all over the place and was making this awful air pressure noise. I truly miss the dream station1. Hopefully your tips will help me to get to the bottom of the issues. BTW, this DS2 came without the heated tubing, and that has been another therapy nightmare for me.
Thank you so much for the feedback on the DreamStation 2 CPAP.
I would reach out to your CPAP provider. They should be able to help with these issues remotely.

You are very welcome.
Your video helped me a great deal. I’m setting up my new machine today. Thanks so much.
Glad that it was helpful.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. I just got this replacement for my partner. It's my responsibility to set it up. I love the way it looks and the size is great, but filling it with water is a little infuriating
(I need to turn on the bright lights and throw on a pair of reading glasses).
Good Luck.
@@CPAPmyway If the sound is due to the humidifier seal can the seal be replaced?

I too do not like the water tank set up. There is no way to check if the tank is empty . And it is easy to spill water ( on my nice wood night stand). I have never had water problems with 3 other CPAP machines.
I do like that the water tank can be washed top rack in a dishwasher........

Hi CPAPmw - can u tell me where the air intake area is (I know where the filters are but how does the air get in to the filters?)- it did not seem obvious in your video? Is there another filter on the air intake area also?
What new material are they now using for sound abatement material, especially considering it appears much quieter?
On the side...all the little holes.
Clear and concise. Great job!
Thank you very much!

You are very welcome. Thank you for the feedback.
It's really loud this is my first unit I've never used it before it's very loud
Agree with your points. I liked being able to NOT use the humidifier if I did not want it and often traveled without it. Now for travelling it is more bulky! There are some better features like the heated tubing, but I am disappointed as well!
Agree with everything. Also, the snap-on lid to the humidifier cannot be separated for cleaning. There is a spring mechanism inside so possibly it's not meant to be separated. But, will bacteria grow on the underside of the lid?
I hate this "upgrade". Waited so long for it, but it
Better than cancer though!

@@hkn2718 My medical supply company contacted me to let me know it was being replaced and that they'd be sending it out to me.
@@hkn2718 I did call Philips and gave them the info on my recalled dream station. I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.
Thanks for the input.
Your a barrel of laughs arn't you 😂
How long is the wait time to receive the new machine .
@@alhamric Thanks for the feedback. I hope that you are enjoying that new DreamStation 2 CPAP.
GREAT VIDEO...MACHINE LOOKS AND WORKS NICELY
For sure. Thanks for the input.
You are very welcome.
You make a clear and pleasant info video . Thanks
Thank you very much.
You are correct, best cpap I've ever owned. Have been through about 5 over the years and use them every night and this is my favorite. It's the lightest and quietest. Great demo
Thank you for the kind words and I am glad that you are enjoying the DreamStation 2.
Mine was also a replacement for dreamstation 1. Love that I can fine tune the flex and humidity and tube heat.
Is SoClean compatible with Dreamstation 2?
Is there a short demo video on how to pack the dream station 2 into the carry case?
No, but we can sure make one in the future. Thanks for watching.
i Just got my replacement Dream Station 2.
Thank you so much for the excellent, informative video! You answered all of my questions!
Glad that it was helpful.
Thanks for the information on the Dreams 2 auto Advance Cpap. Never knew about the green Filter to go inside the grey filter. Thanks for the video.

Glad to help!
If you don't want to use the water can just use it without the back portion like the old dreamstation. The old one has a detachable humidifier so you can use it with or without the whole detachable back portion. Is it the same with dreamstation 2?
The Humidifier is not detachable on the DreamStation 2. You would simply leave the water chamber empty and turn the humidifier to 0.
Thanks!
@@cammy7266 Yes, that works to see the "clinical" settings, thanks for the tip! Terry
I set mine up myself after googling the instructions
The only thing I don’t like is that if you don’t use the humidifier, you can’t omit the tank and enjoy the benefit of having a much smaller unit on the nightstand and also the ease of traveling….or am I missing something? Will it work without the tank attached?
The Humidifier on the DreamStation 2 is integrated so you must have the chamber in there for now. I am sure that there will be a bypass for it, but it will not change the dimensions at all.
With the humidifier attached it’s the size of a Buick. I don’t use the humidifier and I want to remove it.
@@CPAPmyway Yeah, thanks, albeit too late, I just took it out of the recalled unit and put it in the new one without saving anything, oh well.
After 18 years of C-PAPS, I can actually sleep at night due to how quiet it is. No rushing air sounds. None!
Glad to hear that.
I was so pleased at the quieter DS2!
Two questions: can the humidifier bw turned off? Can the the machine be set to turn off automatically? Thanks for your reply
Correct. As long as your provider has linked you up correctly to them.
@@CPAPmyway TY!
Great video presentation & run-through! Is there an app that You can download to control the settings from an android cell phone? If so, could You tell Me what the app is????🤔
Yes, you would want to download the DreamMapper App. Thanks for watching.
do you have to use the humidifier? do you recommend what are the benefits
yes does anyone know?
You do not have to use the humidifier on the CPAP. If you get dried out then you should use it. But if you are using it without water in the chamber, and you have not had any dryness issues, then you can use it without the humidifier.
Great video for me to get started with my new DS2. But if you haven't already, can you do a video that explores the Settings in more detail & why you might want to adjust them.
For sure. We have all that on our channel page. Thanks for watching and for input.
Very useful as I'm waiting for a replacement since the dreamstation was recalled back in june and still havent gotten a replacement yet
Thank you
@@CPAPmyway I hope you finally received yours.
You can not remove the humidifier on the DreamStation 2.
Just got mine yesterday! Small!
Great video, thanks so much! Would love to see a video, or add to the current one, about proper cleaning. Is vinegar and water no longer the preferred cleaning method?
Warm Soapy water is recommended. Rinse well and air dry. Thank you for watching and for the input.
You should still be able to use the DreamMapper App.
The explanation was well done. I had no idea about the heating tube. That was not included in the recall replacement. At least I don't have the different hoses. Is the heating engaged by plugging in the hose designated as the heater hose?
Yes, and you can adjust the settings for the hose in the patient menu.

Thank you for all that input. Great information.
i was given the DS2 on loan while my DS1 IS BEING REPAIRED WHICH WILL TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS by Air Liquide as a replacement for the DS1 only a few days a go.
Hi, does it also have a ramp button? Like the Dream Station one?
It does have a ramp on the DreamStation 2, but it does not have that button like the DreamStation original.
The tank will have to be in there, but you can leave it empty and turn the humidity off. As for the SD card. They should be the same size.
Can you do a video on how to package and send your old clap back to the company
I will reach out to Philips and see if they can provide me some best practice details on that.
Fantastic video
Thanks! 😃
How do you correct the "adjust fit"?
You would need to adjust your mask until the leak is accounted for. Might need to try a different mask if that is not possible.
Wow that humidifier setup is goofy. Have the Dreamstation and it's so simple to fill.

Soclean says simply remove the tube inside the air hose adapter? Thought that hose had to be in touch with humidifier water?
Thanks for watching and for the input.
From my understanding, the new DreamStation 2 design is completely different. So there should be no foam issue on this model.
It is very useful thanks. Thmbs up.
Glad it was helpful!

I have a dream station two and I’d like to know whenever it’s not in use. There’s a blue light ever go out from around the circle. That’s on the power button it glows at night
It stays on to my knowledge.
