Wow, Your analyzes give me a daily dose of life!!! Recently I watched "Goldfinch "with Finn Wolfhard. I also saw some similarities in some of the scenes with Boris and Theo to the scenes with Mike and Will in season 3 and 4. I sincerely hope that the similarities I noticed there are not accidental, and herald the longed-for kiss of Mike and Will. Especially since Noah Shnapp would almost play in this movie. ;(((
You mean acting similarities? Yes, Finn plays “in love with his best friend” a lot so it’s easier to read his facial expressions in scenes with Will cause it’s basically the same.
REAL. ive been thinking about this since i saw it and why they would blur will out. like because in the scene with rockie we’re supposed to be paying attention to robin and whatever SHE is looking at and paying attention to is blurred. cause thats not our focus, its hers. because the emotions we’re supposed to pay attention to are Hers. and so when i saw the mike will and el scene i was confused as to why they would blur will but its BECAUSE even though hes center we’re supposed to be looking at mike and el… and how the focus of mike/el’s attention is what’s blurred… will. and it is slightly different than the rockie scene just because i think while it does show a very heartwarming emotional reunion between el and mike, in the same way its been done throughout the season: it shows us that on some level … mike is ALWAYS noticing and paying attention to will. and thats his focus, not ours. ive ranted now but … tldr I Agree. I Strongly Agree.
i have more to add here but i said the blurring means hes mikes focus bc we were talking abt byler but he is also els focus at this moment. like i think were shown mike and el and we see that they are both subconsciously noticing will at this moment and thats proven to us when el turns around and sees will and doesnt even spare mike a second glance before heading over to will bc shes SO RELIEVED TO SEE HIM AND WILL IS SO RELIEVED TO SEE HER AND RHEYRE SO HAPPY TO SEE EACH OTHER AND ITS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL EMOTIONAL REUNION. just had to add this
I'm amazed by the amounts of details there are to the point where I honestly can't excuse it to be accidents. I mean, I sometimes write a bit and put little things in there, like the names of specific characters, but holy hell this is a lot.

I've been watching all of these videos, and I fully hated Mike after my initial watch of st4, but now, I feel the opposite. I told two friends about this epiphany, and one friend refused to feel any empathy for Mike, and the other was team byler from the start without any evidence. You know what's funny, though? The one who refused to believe reminds me of Mike. They're bi and used to have a lot of internalized homophobia, and I might just have had a crush on them since we've been 9. The other is aro/ace and reminds me more of a bunny on cocaine. It's easier for the person who has no experience with this to accept it, as everything is easy for her to understand from the perspective of the window. For the skeptical and I, we have been directly in those shoes. We live in these shoes every day. I feel huge empathy for anyone in my situation because I tend to be empathetic to myself, but they are extremely critical of everything that reminds them of myself. Thank you for these videos.

It's absolutely insane that I never thought Mike liked Will. I thought in the last season that he felt that Will liked him and that that's why he was so Awkward. But that makes no Sense because he never had An issue with that before. And it's not like Will only then started liking Mike. It's much more logical that he acts that way because he feels like that's what he should feel for Eleven, but he doesn't... He feels it for Will. But I do also have the habit of treating tv charachters as I treat People irl. Like how it took me a while to fully embrace Will Being gay because I'm so used to not assuming anything about People. Unless they Tell you, no matter how obvious it may seem, you never know what's going on in their head. You never know what someone's feeling unless they Tell you. Especially because I don't enjoy People assuming my sexuality. But I also don't enjoy Being asked about it. I like the ambiguity. I don't mind not knowing what label I'd give myself, so I don't want anyone else to assume anything about me either. I just do whatever I want. A label feels restrictive, Idk everything about myself so it feels weird to put myself into a box. So I don't want to do that with anyone else either.
That’s a respectful approach! The thing is with fiction it’s a little different than IRL. In real life you shouldn’t assume because you probably don’t know. In fiction, things like this are purposeful. They’re hints at not just things like what is is going on with characters but also major plot points. Fiction is created to be analyzed and detailed. Real life is a little different. But I agree with you in real life we shouldn’t assume.
But this a fictional character and there are clues put there on purpose by the writers for the viewer to find out. The term queer-coding exists for a reason, after all.
thank you so much for your mike analyses. tbh they help me realize how much i really empathized/sympathized and related to him. it’s so easy to just take mike’s character at base level and dislike/hate him but he’s sm deeper and traumatized than many rly realize.
It´s kinda sad the fact that the Duffer Brothers are probably never being brave enough to actually create something more than a friendship between Mike and Will

Steve doesn’t have a canon sexuality yet. So I didn’t feel comfortable saying he’s straight or whatever because we *don’t* know. But he is definitely not a lesbian so that’s how I phrased it to be mindful of that.

i was on the fence about byler for a while, but this has officially convinced me.
