I loved the Stranger Things scene with Steve and Robin. In about half a second, you can see a dozen emotions run across Steve's face, and *none* of them are even remotely hateful. You can see him, in that half second, stagger because of a little crack forming in his heart - and then, just as quickly, decide that he cares so much for Robin that yeah, friends is just as good, especially knowing she trusted him with such a dangerous thing for the 80s.

My favorite lgbtqia coming out scene is from Netflix series Atypical. Sam is autistic and his sister hesitates to come out and Sam liked penguins and relates to them. He comforted his sister by telling her about the gay penguin couple in California that hatched a penguin chick together. It was so cute and loved that part.
I really love Owl House because of how well they integrated a possible girl-girl-relationship into the whole show like it was the most normal thing just like any other kids show with any other crush of the protagonist (I especially think of the episode with the ball and the monster under the school.).
16:01 nooo don’t hate on Rosa! That scene means the world to me! Watching it before I came out, it was the first time I’d heard a character in a TV show say the word bisexual, and be direct about their bi identity. I still feel emotional every time I watch it 🥹
Lauren you have helped me alot and ive watched your context for a lil over a year and ive really come in touch with my self and discovering that I am Bisexual, although my parents didnt take it to well I will always have your content to cheer me up thank you sooooo much for making content that changed my life and many other ppls lives.
You’re awesome! I went through a similar process when discovering I was pansexual. Your feelings are completely real and you deserve to be accepted and supported! ❤
Oh, I love the Atypical one Penguins is a hiperfocus of Sam, so he comparing them to a penguin couple is really cute and personal And if i'm not mistaken (it has been a while since I watched it), later he gives Casey a sketch he drew of the penguin couple
I would rate Ellen, mainly because of the historic context of that scene 7 stars. It was so important representation at the time. Also 7 stars from me to Stranger Things, Heartstopper and Atypical. I also love Never Have I Ever (excited to start watching season 3), but would give it 6 stars. Personally I would suggest Callie's (Grey's Anatomy) confrontation scene with her father: ua-cam.com/video/3C3N5KY4N3k/v-deo.html
Yes. However badly Ellen has aged as a person, that scene was huge. Basically got her show cancelled and sidelined her career for over ten years, but opened up other shows to even try on mainstream networks. Enormous impact.
ACtually my favourite coming out scene is with Robin, bc it shows how trylu difficult is being a lesbian in their timeline and it pushes to develop of Steve and Robin's friendship which I absolutelly adore bc they are so funny and cute! And like maybe it's also my favourite bc the first person she comes out to (besides her parents) is the guy she was jealous of. AND YES I watched Heartstopler and it was cute, but there was something that the coimng oit scene in Stranger tThings was better than in Heartstopper and I actually don't like coimng out in never have I ever, but her realisation by robot was so good. Amd Atypical was so aforable too I love it how Sam was umderstable bc I hate how they made in The good doctor Shawn like homophobic for this girl it annoyed me bc not all autistic people are homophobic and I love that how they support eachother like Casey amnd Sam are so cute together so it's mine favourite coming out at second place. Xo Kitty was also cool but I understand the girl who gave her 5 hearts I would do it too. I need to watch Brooklyn nine-nine really
I think you mean Shaun was transphobic, I don't think there was any instance he was homophobic, as the girl was trans but Shaun kept misgendering her, and while I think the good doctor isn't a great show or representation (like it's ok but not that good in my opinion as an autistic person), Shaun's whole arc that episode is about understanding her and at the end of the episode a family member brings pink flowers Shaun says "Quinn doesn't like pink, she's more of purple girl." and goes to a pool and floats on top of the water bc that's how she described what it felt like to finally be able to be herself to be a girl.
Ahhh tysm for all the suggestions!! I freaking loved making this video 🌈 What scenes are a MUST have for a part 2?? DONT FORGET TO CHECK OUT NEW MERCH shop.laurenelloise.com/
Glee (Santana coming out to her grandmother or Kurt coming out to his dad), Greys Anatomy (Callie coming out to her dad), Supergirl (Alex coming out to Kara and her mom), Kipo (Benson coming out to Kipo) sry I have a few
My daughter coming out was when she was 14 and had this special friend on sleepovers but she had to sleep on the floor because my daughters bed was very narrow. One day my daughter came to me and tell me we have to go to IKEA to buy her a wider bed so Milla dosen't have to sleep on the floor anymore. While we were at IKEA I asked dos she want me to buy a wider blanket allso and is this something she wants to tell me? Her smile told me everything. We end up buying not only the bed and blanket but very wide cushion and all kinds of sheets. Never seen my daughter happyer.
They would have probably rated it higher if they had watched the show. The way that Luz and Amity went from almost enemies (at least from Amity's side), to friends, to a huge crush (Grom!!!) to girlfriends is just too cute, and the only reason they did such a short coming out scene with Camila was because the show had been cut out by the darn mouse and I just hate it so much!! This show deserved so much better, and everyone should watch it!
@@MattCannady Eda's curse can symbolize so many things, from a disability to self acceptance...and Papa Titan was oh so cool 😻 wish you the best, and I hope that you won't have any problem, I don't know where you live but I hear that the situation in many states is unsafe, hope that this is not your case and that you are able to express yourself at your full potential 💚 I myself feel pretty strongly connectet to Willow, but mostly for her growth, going from insecurity to self assurance but being there for others...my road is still long, but I hope I'll be able to see myself as such a strong character! 😊
@@annalisalundberg4561 thank you. Glad to have moved recently from Texas back up to Michigan. Willow is a good study in self confidence, doubt, imposter syndrome, and friendship. Good luck out there!
You should also watch "This is Us" when Tess comes out. I use to watch that scene over and over again when I was trying to convince myself to come out to my parents.
Earlier in Never Have I Ever I liked when Fab (who really likes robots and coding) coded the robot she built to say “I’m gay” because she wasn’t able to say it herself out loud yet and I love how it combined her interests into the scene and was sort of like she was speaking through the robot
Please add Warrior Nun for part 2. Sister Beatrice's heartfelt scene with Ava is probably the best coming out scene i've seen and she didn't even directly came out and of course the best response from Ava after the fact is just so pure and lovely.
One of my favorite coming out scenes of all time is from an anime called "Stars Align". As a transmasc person, I relate so much to the scene and really appreciate the obvious care that was put into it, especially because it is so difficult to find good trans representation in anime (and in general). I also have a very personal connection to this scene because I watched it before I knew I was trans and ended up showing it to my mom and telling her how much I loved it. That was the first time my mom asked me if I might be trans or nonbinary. I didn't come out to her that day, as I wasn't even out to myself, but that one moment served as a catalyst for my journey in discovering my gender identity, all while knowing that my mom would be there to support me when I was ready. Here's a link to the scene: ua-cam.com/video/1P3rRNNO5uw/v-deo.html
I love Robin's scene because it's sincere, a little funny at times and sweet. I love Steve's reaction as well haha Seriously, the reaction we always want when we come out
Willow and Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a big deal for its time as well. And although the show as a whole isn't great, I always liked Alex's coming out on Supergirl. It feels very realistic, and she talks about her failure to realize it or repressing it when she was younger, which I know many people can relate to.
Heartstopper helped me so much in my journey to knowing myself! I really enjoyed this video, thank you for the amazing work you do! Would definitely watch the second part! ❤
Heartstopper was so idek the words but so comforting to watch 5 years after coming out. I could feel the pain but also the happiness in it too. Was such a good show. Thanks so watching! 💖 10/10 gotta do a part 2
@@laurenelloise I agree, it's really comforting to watch! I'm glad to know there's gonna be a second part of this video, thank you again and have a nice day! ✨

I'm homoromantic asexual too Took a lot of time to figure out and I still question from time to time. Its HARD. Really proud of you for figuring it out :)
One of my friends found out I was gay and this what they said “Hi, I know you like a girl. I’m okay with that and I’m so sorry I said queers where bad, I just have never met a queer that was so amazing, funny, nice, and caring as you. I just don’t want you to feel like you have to keep anything from me. This won’t ruin our friendship. I’ll always have your back. You can always talk to me whenever you need it…I’m sorry… I’m sorry you couldn’t be friends if I knew.” I thought it was super sweet and wanted to share it with you :) AND OFC were still friends :)
oh and young royals season 2 speech scene in the last episode of the season is also a coming out scene!! it's amazing but I think you need context of the whole show to get it. Still I really recommend it!
robins coming out scene was literally one of my fav scenes in season 3 of stranger things. that scene, the hospital monster scene and the mall bit in episode 2 with max and el are my fav scenes defo.
I loved your video! if you're considering filming part two, I would recommend reacting to Isak's coming out scene from season three of Skam Norway, it's my favourite of all time
6:43 I love The Owl House!! I don’t mean to spoil, but it has so many LGBTQ+ characters and relationships. Plus, the story is just amazing!! I enjoy watching it a lot and I’d watch it over and over again!! My profile is actually my favorite character from The Owl House, his name’s Hunter.
I told my wife and best mate I'm bi and they were both OK with it like I was bricking it but I felt so much better after, all my wife asked is to not cheat or lose me to some one else male or female lol but serusly there the only 2 people who know and that's all. 😊
Saddd i was hoping to see Marco's come out scene in Degrassi. You have to keep in mind the show aired in the early 00's and the idea of a gay character in the MAIN cast was nearly unheard of, particularly for a drama aimed at teens, not to mention it was a pent up of emotions not just from the character but the person he comes out to and everyone's varying reactions as a result. Really the whole plot related to it is gut wrenching (triggering but it does have a happy end). Also emotional because at the time the actor was also grappling with his sexuality and persued him to eventually come out. There are a lot of good coming out scenes in the show, like Adam discovered to be trans, Miles coming out as bisexual, Yael realizing they're enby, etc
honestly ians coming out in shameless us are great to lip and fiona are so great in so diferent ways and also in shameless mickeys coming out was like so awaited that when he finally did was very impactful
Willows coming out scene to Buffy! For a show that started in the 90s, it was a huge moment in television to have a main character who was “straight” at the beginning coming out to her best friend because she fell in love with a woman. It was a pure and honest portrayal of LGBT representation, especially for it’s time. Truly changed LGBTQ+ television forever.
I would love a part 2!! I remember a coming out scene in an animated tv show I watched when I was younger, the show is called Kipo and the age of wonderbeasts :D I love that show, it actually has a nonbinary character, a gay character, and a pansexual character. It also has a pretty diverse cast in general, with the main character being biracial herself (and in my opinion she gives huge bi vibes too, but it's not confirmed)
Despite what that short scene might make you think The Owl House might be in my top 3 lesbian relationships on tv, and also one of the most realistic relationships on tv in general, and somehow they managed to air almost 3 seasons of this super gay show on Disney of all places before being forced to rap things up in a 3 episode 3rd season. (Still managed to make a satisfying finale btw.)
Willow coming out to Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer is very good. Also, the scene where Sterling and April come out to each other in Teenage Bounty Hunters (also the scene where Sterling comes out to her sister Baily), and also She-Ra. [edit] almost forgot Faking It, both the scenes where Amy comes out to Shane, and the scene where she comes out to Karma.
I would love to see your reaction to Cynthia’s coming out scene in Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies. It came out on the first day of pride month and made me cry so much!!! It’s episode 10! (For context it’s set in the 50’s and it definitely wasn’t the most excepting time… understatement of the century)
I was so upset at first when Robin came out because I was shipping her and Steve so hard! But now I’m actually loving their “plutonic with a capital P” relationship lol. And her coming out scene is so cute!!
I'm transmasc, and Viktor's coming out in Umbrella academy still makes me tear up to this day. He has the familial support that I don't and seeing all of his siblings accept him instantly makes me cry. Especially in the window scene with Allison talking about reflections. That whole episode, really. hits me right in the soul.
I did get pretty upset at it, but Victor’s coming out scene in Love Victor really impacted me. Not because it’s wholesome, but because it isn’t. It’s an actual realistic coming out to your conservative parents scenario, similar to Yuri’s in XO, Kitty. But it’s okay because his parents finally come around, after like a whole season ahaha
Thanks, I enjoyed this. What I loved about the Heartstopper scene was that you could feel that her inner reaction to “it’s called bisexuality” was “yeah, your generation didn’t invent this stuff”. Which is what I also thought a few times while watching this video with all of the talk about older people, which definitely includes me ;)
more coming out scenes: Norma in Dead End Paranormal Park!! also Barney from the same show (Norma comes out in s2 and Barney comes out in s1). Also Stede Bonnet in ep10 of Our Flag Means Death!!

The Heartstopper coming out scene broke me cuz I know I will never get any support from my mom if I came out to her 💔
DON'T let anyone make u feel ashamed. Be who you are.
excellent words
The heart stopper scene is so good 🥺🥺 gets me every time I see it
me too fam
I really love Owl House because of how well they integrated a possible girl-girl-relationship into the whole show like it was the most normal thing just like any other kids show with any other crush of the protagonist (I especially think of the episode with the ball and the monster under the school.).
I just love Robin, I love that we get to see more scenes like this in shows and movies
16:01 nooo don’t hate on Rosa! That scene means the world to me! Watching it before I came out, it was the first time I’d heard a character in a TV show say the word bisexual, and be direct about their bi identity. I still feel emotional every time I watch it 🥹
Suggestions for part 2:
Santana coming out to her grandma in Glee
Cyrus comes out to his friend in Andi Mack
YES CYRUS COMING OUT WAS MY GAY AWAKENING
Lauren you have helped me alot and ive watched your context for a lil over a year and ive really come in touch with my self and discovering that I am Bisexual, although my parents didnt take it to well I will always have your content to cheer me up thank you sooooo much for making content that changed my life and many other ppls lives.
You’re awesome! I went through a similar process when discovering I was pansexual. Your feelings are completely real and you deserve to be accepted and supported! ❤
Oh, I love the Atypical one
Penguins is a hiperfocus of Sam, so he comparing them to a penguin couple is really cute and personal
And if i'm not mistaken (it has been a while since I watched it), later he gives Casey a sketch he drew of the penguin couple
You should do one day at a time that has a really good coming out scene
Also Jodie fosters coming out speech
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Shameless is a need 😁
The one from Brooklyn nine nine is how so many Hispanic parents react to coming out, it’s sad but true and I love how it was portrayed.
Can we acknowledge how supportive Gal Pal is with Laurens channel? It really shows how much she really does love Lauren.
she’s so cute! And I love how she’s so passionate in this video, because she loves the film world. I’m so grateful and lucky for her 🌈💖😭
My fav coming out scene is Mickey from shameless. Even though it’s sad it’s so memorable.
The owl house is the best!!!!!
The girlfriend is the best character in the show!!!!!💜💜💜💜
Elen
They would have probably rated it higher if they had watched the show. The way that Luz and Amity went from almost enemies (at least from Amity's side), to friends, to a huge crush (Grom!!!) to girlfriends is just too cute, and the only reason they did such a short coming out scene with Camila was because the show had been cut out by the darn mouse and I just hate it so much!! This show deserved so much better, and everyone should watch it!
yep, flip disney for canceling it
@@annalisalundberg4561 Crikey! Being trans NB I related to Eda's curse and King's "King AND Queen, best of both things"
I feel like The Golden Girls had a really good coming-out scene when Blanche finds out her brother is Gay (especially for the time)
Another really excellent coming out scene is Clare from Derry Girls. Extremely awkward but really good.
Also yes, I did name myself after Charlie Spring from Heartstopper.
Oh my god I love that show, and especially that scene. It’s so underrated haha.
That anime is amazing!
I love Robin's scene because it's sincere, a little funny at times and sweet. I love Steve's reaction as well haha
Seriously, the reaction we always want when we come out
Willow and Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a big deal for its time as well.
Aww thanks you too!
@@laurenelloise thank you ☀️
Five says he’s happy for viktor and then they continue to argue 😂
As a baby bi who hasn't come out to my family just a few close friends, it is just very relaxing to settle in and watch some gay shit ❤❤❤
Love you both and happy pride month 🥰
aww i love this. hope youve had an amazing pride month! 🖤
@@laurenelloise ❤❤❤ ty Lauren!
I LOVVVEEEE the Heartstopper coming out scene, I feel like Kit Connor’s acting was top notch, plus it’s very similar to my experience with my family.
thank youu this will really help me find lgbtq+ shows to watch!! 🌈
yayayya glad I could help! (but also thanks to everyone who left really good recommendations )
i never cry and the heartstopper coming out scene makes me cry everytime i see it!!
you and me both. its really well done
Thank you for helping me finding out what i am. ( I didn’t think I could say sexuality because I am asexual, but I am homorimantic)
I'm homoromantic asexual too
Took a lot of time to figure out and I still question from time to time. Its HARD. Really proud of you for figuring it out :)
@@homoromoacecase97 awww thank you sooooo much you too. I hope you have an amazing Pride and slay the day (like you always do)
One of my friends found out I was gay and this what they said “Hi, I know you like a girl.
That's so sweet❤
oh and young royals season 2 speech scene in the last episode of the season is also a coming out scene!! it's amazing but I think you need context of the whole show to get it. Still I really recommend it!
robins coming out scene was literally one of my fav scenes in season 3 of stranger things. that scene, the hospital monster scene and the mall bit in episode 2 with max and el are my fav scenes defo.
I loved your video! if you're considering filming part two, I would recommend reacting to Isak's coming out scene from season three of Skam Norway, it's my favourite of all time
I would love to see GLEE in this! Because there are 2 characters that came out and 2 different consequences of it! Please 🙏🏻.
The stranger things hit so hard this video was amazing happy #pride 🌈 ❤️
i know right! gets me every time :') and glad you enjoyed! hope youve had the best pride month!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Luz's coming out scene is i👏con👏ic
In the umbrella academy scene Five then said something like: "I'm happy for you, Viktor"
Rosa coming out as bi was one of my favourite things on B99
Another really good scene is from Love Victor when Victor’s little brother finds out, that scene reminds me of the Atypical scene
I started crying when I saw the heartstopper one even though I’ve watched it so many times
nawwww 🖤 it really gets u in the feels hey
As soon as I am able to buy something offline for myself without my parents seeing or having to ask them I am 100% getting some merch!
Hey guys umm I’m struggling to tell my mum and dad that I could be bi I was wondering if you could make a video on how to tell your parents
honestly ians coming out in shameless us are great to lip and fiona are so great in so diferent ways and also in shameless mickeys coming out was like so awaited that when he finally did was very impactful
That's exactly what I said about those scenes
A really good one is Cyrus in Andi Mack!!!
You should’ve shown young royals
Rose is very not dry but serious and glooomie and also she’s not the only queer person in the show
Willows coming out scene to Buffy! For a show that started in the 90s, it was a huge moment in television to have a main character who was “straight” at the beginning coming out to her best friend because she fell in love with a woman. It was a pure and honest portrayal of LGBT representation, especially for it’s time. Truly changed LGBTQ+ television forever.
this is the first video i’ve watched of yours and I already LOVE the energy you two give off!!! 🤍 happy pride, even though its ‘over’
awww thank you so much!! hope you had the best pride month!
I would love a part 2!! I remember a coming out scene in an animated tv show I watched when I was younger, the show is called Kipo and the age of wonderbeasts :D
I love that show, it actually has a nonbinary character, a gay character, and a pansexual character.
If you do a part 2 please include cash' ace coming out in heartbreak high!!
I legit just uploaded a part 2 with that scene hhehehe 👀👀🫶
@@laurenelloise ahhh amazing, watching that asap!!:)
LOVE, SIMON AND LOVE, VICTOR COMING OUT SCENES PLEASEEEEEEEEE😍😭😭
the coming out of robin in stranger things and of zoe in miraculous >>>
Willow coming out to Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer is very good. Also, the scene where Sterling and April come out to each other in Teenage Bounty Hunters (also the scene where Sterling comes out to her sister Baily), and also She-Ra. [edit] almost forgot Faking It, both the scenes where Amy comes out to Shane, and the scene where she comes out to Karma.
Kinda sad you didn’t have the iconic Disney coming out scene too from Cyrus, but thanks so much for the video
the “oh baby” in hesrtstopper ALWAYS makes me cry. ALWAAAYYYYYYSSSSSS. like the line delivery is just so. and like oh my god it’s so sweet
I wish u guys had been around in 90s coming out then was horrendous
Edit here, u guys need to watch Beth Jordash kiss her girlfriend
this video was in the “stranger things” section 😭
OMG DO CRUSH!!!!!! Paige is soooo cute omgggg
The last scene in young royals s2 is a comming out scene to the country
if you guys do a part 2 id recommend the coming out scene in Warrior Nun :)
Rosa's coming out was soooo great!!!
Thanks, I enjoyed this.
What I loved about the Heartstopper scene was that you could feel that her inner reaction to “it’s called bisexuality” was “yeah, your generation didn’t invent this stuff”. Which is what I also thought a few times while watching this video with all of the talk about older people, which definitely includes me ;)
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! 🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈
Kristen Stewart in charlie's angels!!! ❤
Hiiii! I love that ur reviewing heartstopper!
omg yes we absolutely HAD to
more coming out scenes: Norma in Dead End Paranormal Park!! also Barney from the same show (Norma comes out in s2 and Barney comes out in s1). Also Stede Bonnet in ep10 of Our Flag Means Death!!
