    At this point, I think it's criminal that state officials across the nation have not approached you guys to integrate the Gracie Combative program as a requirement to graduate from the academy. Our first responder LEs are grossly unprepared as a unit to face the challenges communities face nowadays. I feel that to receive your POST certification, you should have to complete the blue belt program. I think that would mitigate a lot of the excessive force complaints officers tend to get. But that's just my opinion. Keep doing what you're doing guys! OSS!! 💪🏿🙏🏿

    Its funny you guys admit that cops rather not learn to roll (DT), when I made a similar comment in your presentation video I got all kinds of grief. Keep up the good work since this really is needed but a long road is ahead to change the culture you are trying to impact.

      They got a lot feedback about it across all social media. Not only do departments not want to fund it, the cops themselves don't want to learn it.

      I speak from personal experience. A lot of officers, specially old timers don’t want to learn new techniques. I think it’s more because of the fear of feeling embarrassed than the fact that they have to learn something.
      Right now I’m considering buying the course and upon completion I would donate my time to the department. I would offer to help train people once a week and try to change the culture.

    • @SwordFighterPKN
      @SwordFighterPKN 4 роки тому

      @@gabrielmarquez2318 I was thinking about doing something similar but after a discussion with my brother-in-law that just left LE I changed my mind. Basically if you don't come from LE who are you to tell them how to do their job. Even if you have better skills when it comes to hands on.

    • @chrislowe5575
      @chrislowe5575 3 роки тому

      I dont come from LEO but as a fellow bjj black belt I would state that you dont have to be LEO to offer control skills of value….. it is well known that an officer who is not a D1 wrestler is going to be beaten at grappling effortlessly by the black belt so why not listen and learn?

    Do I have to be a black belt in GJJ or a LEO to teach this course?

    • @zube410
      @zube410 4 роки тому

      The short answer is probably yes, but it's a little more complicated than that. They let law enforcement, and basically emergency response personnel, and things like that take the GST course which then in theory would let those same people be able to teach that same course, but they don't offer to civilians until those civilians are running their own school and until that school reaches a high enough level of competence. That competence may require a black belt from them, but I'm not entirely certain. We have certainly seen brown belt instructors helping to teach it in Torrance. (one of their most popular videos was Brian Ortega at a GST seminar as a brown belt)

    What Is a difference between GST And ICP ?

    • @zube410
      @zube410 4 роки тому

      Yes! Gracie's survival tactics is their law enforcement specific course. It deals with a completely different set of rules enforced by the very different situation that law enforcement officers are in. For a civilian, running from a fight is an ideal solution if it's an option. For a law enforcement officer it's likely impossible. Also, they teach civilians as if no weapons are involved in the beginning because 90% of the time no weapons are involved. with police officers, it's best to assume there will be weapons involved 100% of the time since the police officer will be carrying them, and hugging an opponent is a great way to force them to notice you're carrying a gun and have them try and draw it and shoot you. GST deals with control tactics, use of force continuum, integration of tools from your belt, etc specifically in a law enforcement situation. The instructor certification program specifically only tries to teach you the teaching methods employed so successfully by the Gracie family for about a century now. They are objectively good at teaching what they teach, and their schools are far more organized than a lot of random dojos are, as is their curriculum. teaching that organization skill, and the ability to pass on individual techniques in digestible pieces to students is more the goal of the ICP. It requires previous knowledge of the basic civilians starting curriculums and demonstrated high proficiency in those curriculums. (Namely: Gracie combatives and the younger variation of that, Gracie bullyproof.) once you have completed GST, you will be basically a qualified law enforcement instructor, and will be equipped to teach the most important principles of jiu jitsu in a law enforcement specific setting as envisioned by Gracie University. Once you've completed the ICP, you will be certified and trained to a level that will allow you to open a school provisionally until you've proven your ability to run said school, at which point you go back to developing more skills and your particular certified training center will basically slowly rank up as if it were gaining belt ranks. I'm not really sure how better to describe that. The first level Will teach the more basic courses that you were certified for when you first took the ICP, and then as you learn more techniques, you are expected to be able to use your understanding of how to teach in conjunction with the new techniques that you yourself are continuing to learn in order to pass on that new information. When you yourself hit a certain level and have been teaching successfully, then your school will move to a level two school, and so on. At some point you will learn all the techniques needed to complete and teach Gracie survival tactics, at which point your school will be qualified to run GST seminars. (I believe that is a third or fourth level CTC meaning a brown belt or black belt civilian jiu jitsu instructor, meaning a lot of years on the mat.)

      @tjl4688 4 роки тому

      Even Rener and Ryron agree there is a time and place for deadly force. If they pull a knife, GST will let you get to your gun WITHOUT getting stabbed five times.
