Not a great comparison as the 171 was acc having issues with an air leak coming from the base gasket on the cylinder, I have fixed this problem and now both saws run almost identical, but the 170 did seem to easier to work on still.
What all have you done to your 170? I’ve had mine for a few years now and I’ve put the little felling spike on, opened up the exhaust a bit, and got the upgraded 14 inch stihl bar chain (50 gauge).
Not a very impressive chain. I will bet my ms 170 will blow that 170 into the weeds. Mine is a new 170 but it is a very impressive little saw.. as long as it’s bar will wrap around the wood I want to cut, it will cut it.

Your 171 definitely sounded as it was having carburetor issues.
Yeap, your right, turns out the base gasket seal was on its way out and was causing and air leak, both saws are very similar now haha
Stihl MS 170 süper ötesi çok kullanışlı testere motoru 👍👍👍👍👏👌👌
👍👍👍❤️👍👍
No sense.. ms 171 hawe some ishue
I got ms 171 I rather have the ms170
My 171 cuts way faster but I haven’t had it for long so I will see what comes
the 170 is 30.1cc and the 171 is 31.8cc
It isnt a true comparison as we all know they are both mostly the same

Test non valido devi regolare la carburazione alla ma 171
Yeah turned out to be a base gasket air leak causing the issue
