4:33 Oh My Goodness nacho is sleeping yet he looks sooo exhausted this is just the perfect moment that shows just how much piggies work just to be so cute and perfect 🥰
My two boys (Cookie, a tri-coloured Peruvian and Chestnut, a Rex) have selective naturals grain free and the Timothy hay blend from Haybox (many thanks to Sarah). I've started to treat them to the orchard hay from haybox as a treat hay when out for laptime. Veggies are constantly wanted in our house when the fridge is opened or we hoomans are eating tea. Moderation is still implemented though but they don't seem to take no for an answer. We've tried the herbal blend and botanical blend from haybox but the herbal blend is the definitive favourite amongst our herd.
A few days ago I put up a small pigmas/Christmas tree (because I have two) in my piggies room! And last week I made homemade guinea pig treats (I used one of kavee's recipe videos) they were supposed to look like a Christmas tree or a star but they looked nothing like that, but the guinea pigs still loved them! (thankfully!)🐹🐹💖🍬😄
Remember that cucumber has an enzyme ascorbinase which destroyes vitamin C in other food. That way you lose the huuuge amount of vit C in other veggies. If i give them cucumber i always wait at least an hour between other veggies
My little beautiful Guinea Pig is going to be joining me next week. I really do think it’s important to do the research beforehand. I’m so looking forward to picking my precious pet up.
Thank you! I just want to hug Nacho he looks so fluffy ❤❤ :D. It is official that I won't get guinea pigs, because I just dont have time to take care for them, but will stay weekly for the upload. Also there is nothing better then watching piggies eating hay 😂❤. See you lot next week!🎉 ~Beatrise
Such happy piggies! I love watching them enjoy their food and treats ❤️ Btw I notice you use a plastic cutting board for their veggies; you might want to switch that for bamboo or wood. Plastic cutting boards hold a lot more bacteria and they also release microplastics into the food you prep on them. Wood and bamboo are much safer and easier to keep clean
@@fawn2911 Nope, they used to believe that but it isn't so. Wood kinda pushes the bacteria back out, whereas plastic just gets knifed up and has a lot of tiny gaps that hold bacteria. Of course you still have to wash a wood or bamboo cutting board but it's MUCH cleaner and safer than plastic. You can go ahead and research it and you'll find that the recommendation against wood cutting boards is no longer valid.
@@stellangiosabsolutely, I binned my plastic chopping boards years ago and replaced them with wood. Saw a scientific demonstration where they looked under a microscope at the two types, which clearly showed the plastic one with a steady growth of bacteria and the wooden ones far less so. Also explained that wood contains some antibacterial properties 😊
Thanks so much for the great ideas! I am ordering some of those flakes now and will try them, as my guys can be very picky and tend to turn their noses up at a lot of things I give them
Hi Sarah great vid again love seeing your piggies they all adorable love seeing them do circle trick both of mine do it to for treats I buy burgess excel treats they get 1 or 2 a day
Thank you for this video, very informative. I have been feeding our piggy her mix of raw veggies twice a day, will cut that back now. I also let her have free access to pellets, is that bad?. I have tried to give her the dried camomile herbs to calm her anxiety, but she will not eat it. She does love pea flakes as do your piggies.
Hi, do you have recommendations for vegetables and fruits? I tried a lot of things but mine is really REALLY picky. Only likes green lettuce and apple (which I give the latter not a lot of time since it is a lot of sugar)
Hii! I have a question about feeding and amount of food to give to guinea pigs. I have 2 ladies, and I am fairly new to having such small pets so in the start I fed them too much. Now they are very big and I think in the upper bracket for how much they should weigh and I don't know how to make them lose weight and not underfeed them? My vet, who looked at them for a health check, didnt mention anything about weight-loss, so I am turning to you for help. Please and thank you for any response!
About fresh food: We have had a Guinea Pig with diabetes. We discovered that because he had stare in both of his eyes at the age of 1 year old. He even was blind after a while at this young age. So we had to feed him only with (Timothy-)hay and fresh food. (And 1 pill Glibanese a day from the vet). I should give fresh food 🥬every day anyway.
Hi! I have a question. As it’s getting so much colder, I want to make a cardboard hut to keep them warm, I only have coloured cardboard though. Is this safe for them? If not, are there other methods of keeping them warm?
It depends how much they chew . It shouldn't be a problem if they dont chew cardboard much! my piggies only have a nibble of colored cardboard every now and then and they're fine! I recommend filling up a little place in the cage with hay so they can keep warm in that too!
How often should you give them the pea flakes, and how many do you give them. Also, I am a huge fan of your videos, i'm in the process of trying to persuade my parents to get me so guinea pigs, and i will watch hours of your videos everyday. You make you videos so fun to watch but also educational, thank you so much!!
Hi I love Guinea pigs and I foster them and have a Guinea pig channel and you have helped so much But I was wondering if you might look into Foster Piggie Gang
Hi, I want to ask a question: Do I need to grate the carrot if I give it to my guinea pigs, or it's fine to only wash it before? And what breed id Roxy, she's also so cute? P.S. Another great video, your guinea pigs look so happy when you're in their room and I admire you how well you take care of them. I also really appreciate I can be part of this community to make better world for guinea pigs. I wish merry pigmas to everybody.
Thank you! No need to grate the carrot. Don't feed too much/often as it is quite sugary, a few times a week is fine 😊. Roxy is part Abyssinian and probably part Peruvian, though her hair is not that long it is extremely smooth and soft. Merry pigmas to you too! 🎄🥰
I’ve had our two girls for about a week now. They’re about 3 months old. They haven’t touched one veggie yet. I’ve tried red and orange peppers, carrots, cucumbers, romaine lettuce, dandelion leaves and zucchini. I offer it in the morning and night but they won’t even try them. They are drinking, eating their pellets and hay tho. Any advice??
I am at my wit's end when it comes to hay. I thought my piggies should only have timothy hay so I make sure they have a constant source. Today I purchased a full bale because with three pigs it seemed more cost effective. I'm in Canada. I'll spare you the details of getting it home in my hatchback, with allergies and asthma and the ensuing hay mess all over the car, not to mention lifting it and getting it into the house. Golly. So I think I will have it delivered from now on. So, orchard or meadow hay is just as good for their health as timothy? I keep finding conflicting information. Help please Sarah, if you happen to see this.😃
Yes I believe they are good options, I haven't tried them personally as they're not as readily available here in the UK but I have seen them recommended on forums 😊
Hello, I've been a huge fan of your videos for a long time, I was wondering what your opinion of feeding Guinea Pigs Iceberg Lettuce? I've seen defently no and none shalont opinions of feeding them this.
I dont know what Sarah thinks but I'd say definitely no as my friends guinea pig was fed iceberg Lettuce and ended up getting bloat . She had to pay £600 to get her healthy again otherwise it could be fatal . ❤❤
I know you were asking squeaks but I’m going to give you my opinion on it in case she doesn’t answer. 😅 Iceberg lettuce isn’t really recommended because it has very little to no nutritional value, meaning it doesn’t really make sense to feed it. It’s mostly water, so if you feed piggies a high amount of it, it might cause an upset stomach as too much water isn’t that good for the digestive system. Other lettuces such as romaine lettuce are better.
Hey, I’ve recently just got 2 guinea pig the previous owner never bothered with them so they’re not used to me and seen your video on how to leave them for a week if I completely leave them alone does this mean not clean in the cage? When they poo what about feeding them as well if I completely leave them like I’m not interested so they know I’m not pray 😂
Sarah I use the Hay Box pelletts and hadn't heard of the ones you mentioned. Is there any reason that you could share, why you dont use Haybox? Thank you ❤
I always give them hay and more! This was helpful, thanks! Also what bread is calie? (please reply back, I am going to get a guinea pig for Christmas) Ps: I alredy have one piggy and I want it to have some friends)
Salads and cucumbers is a no no. Do not mix it together. Your piggies will have gas. And that’s a dangerous thing for pigs. Do not give watery vegetables every day! It’s the first thing you will hear from a vet. If you don’t want to kill your piggies, people listen to it and never do it.
Watery veggies are fine and good for staying hydrated and for piggies who are susceptible to bladder sludge. Gas can be caused by vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, spring greens etc, so best feed only occasionally. If you notice soft stools or sloppy poop, cut all fresh foods out entirely and find the right balance that works for your individual piggies.

Thank you and ooh thank you for the advice on the chopping board, something I've never really thought of but will definitely replace it! 😊
Wood is porous so it's easier for it to trap bacteria and mold spores
