    I really thought I had finally found a video that would help me get this. The first part was great and then suddenly you just said the answers to the the quadratic equation while solving for X with no explanation of how you got there. Isn't that the point of a how to video? Anyway, it looks like a lot of other people magically got it so who knows.

    I'm lost at 6:48 I don't get how he got (x+3)(x+2). Where did he get those numbers from?

      It's a quadratic trinomial.
      x^2 + 5x + 6
      P (product/last number) = 6
      S (sum/middle number) = 5
      F (factor/two numbers that add to give 5 and multiply to give 6) = 3, 2
      (x + 3)(x + 2)

      jefferson, math skills are directly proportional to how much TV we watch... and indirectly proportional to how many video-games we play :)

      He factored it. You should search for a "factoring quadratic equations" video.

    How would u find the y intercepts for this
    0= 24x^2 - x^2 + 59 -357

    • @saihajmangat2995
      @saihajmangat2995 2 роки тому

      Assuming that you meant y=24x^2 - x^2 + 59 -357, not 0= 24x^2 - x^2 + 59 -357, because that would be an equation and y wouldn't exist, here's how you would do it.
      Step 1: Simplify.
      24x^2-x^2= 23x^2
      59-357= -298
      y= 23x^2-298
      Step 2: Substitute.
      y= 23(0)^2-298
      y=-298
      OR (on TI-84)
      Step 1: Enter "24x^2 - x^2 + 59 -357" into y=
      Step 2: Graph with appropriate windows (you may have to change them a few times)
      Step 3: 2nd, trace, "minimum"
      y= -298
      If you watched the video then you would have been able to solve this yourself. It was a question that reminded me of middle school so thx for the nostalgia.

    But how did you factor ? You were doing so amazingly explaining this until you just did that part in your mind instead of in the video!!

      Jason... factoring is covered in previous tutorials. this tutorial deals with evaluating quadratic functions for the x and y intercepts. which is why it's titled... "HOW TO FIND X and Y INTERCEPTS :)
