Whenever I hear Laurinitis’ name I just immediately think of his “PEOPLE POWER” promo and how the crowd was deader than a dirty ditch.. you could hear a pin drop, it was so cringe lol

CM Punk burying him with his savage promos were the best.
He arguably got more of a reaction than 80% of the roster during his Heel-run.

A lot of people say the shows are written for an audience of one. But it's been an audience of two. Stephanie created the writing team made of Hollywood people. And they write what she likes and approves to Vince. So she deserves as much blame as Vince.
I agree. Fire all of creative and hire a three person booking committee where Vince is only one vote.

Since Paul Heyman was name dropped,Vince McMahon won't let go of Paul becuase he knows that Paul has a great creative mind for the business that Vince doesn't want AEW,Impact,or ROH to have.
I'm not sure what Heyman brings to the table creatively in the 2020s. His creative run peaked in the 90s and early 2000s. Not to mention, Heyman can rub people the wrong way and be difficult. Worst of all, he can be like Vince Russo and book crash tv type stuff as seen with ECW.
Ace ran off OVW, he ran off ACW. He had full knowledge of naked trainees shoving their asses in each other's faces in DSW and successfully escaped punishment. He hired Gail Kim for the purpose of wrestling in her underwear with Dawn Marie in dark matches and destroyed what credibility WWE's women's division had with underwear model signees.
Congratulations Mr. Laurinaitis, you're an inspiration. We should all revisit our failures. Some of us might just make it back to where we were again too.

He's definitely told it before on the show at least once, but Corny can definitely tell a story well enough that nobody'll mind hearing it again lol
Just look up him talking about OVW. Not even the "deep dive" clip (though the story is in there); the shoot interview that looks like the one with the most infamous retelling of the Montreal recap works. It's when he talks about what they did to Doug Basham.
Sometimes it's great to revisit some of the greatest hits. I think I'm going to watch the Dairy Queen Incident again.

There was a regular customer at the Subway I worked at who BOTH looked and sounded exactly like Laurinitis, and I’d always crack up a little inside.
I wouldn't have any kind of issue with the voice... I just couldn't bring myself to take him seriously unless he dressed like Super Dave.

johnny ace became dr.death's tag team partner after terry gordy overdosed. he was in some great tag team matches between 1994 and 1996 (mostly by being a big guy working against some of the best ever like misawa, kobashi, kawada, taue and akiyama)
overall he was there 12 years but only shined for 2-3

Jim turns on the Dynamic Dudes in 1989, John Laurinaitis doesn't forget and makes Jim's life hell 15 years later. Good to hear they have both moved on another 15 years later.
The WWE started going downhill once Stephanie became head of creative but initially the product was still quite similar to what it was from 1998-2000, it just wasn't being booked very well. Things could have steered back in the right direction if Stephanie could have been fired and you could write it off as a few weak years. However John Laurinaitis' run as head of talent relations was the point of no return. Wrestling people like Cornette or Jim Ross were gone, yes-men were in, and thus the WWE could complete its transformation into the corporate nonsense it is today.
I think Patterson also was gone as a regular during this period, too. Except for being brought back to help book the Royal Rumble.
@Ian Sane, yeah Steph as head of creative/ booker makes shit stain's booking/ creative ideas seem like good ideas.
They also hired people who DONT watch wrestling but will hire Hollywood scriptwriters.

To me it all went downhill after Heyman was removed as the head of creative on Smackdown. Everything Stephanie, Vince, and John did to that company after was collateral damage to me.

WOW you just described me in the early to mid '80's. In the '90's WWF wrestling used to come on at 11:00 pm on a Sunday, the one day I went to bed early so I could wake up < and not fall asleep during> and watch. If I missed it I would see the station sign off with the station logo and the American flag waving at me. ( I never have been angrier at seeing a USA flag and I am American, lol)
Should have been fired for the Bob Orton incident alone. The guy has more lives than anybody in the business.

WWE re-hiring people they let go is amazing.
With the rumor floating that there is an impending acquisition of the WWE by Endeavor to be announced as early as tomorrow I’ve almost become conspiratorial about why these long term people of the past were brought back on. The rumored acquisition would merge the WWE with the UFC and values the WWE at $9.3B, well above its market cap of $6.8B. When considering that these positions he’s brought them back with are high level to earn stock in the company as part of the pay package I almost wonder if it was motivated with the sale in mind. I almost wonder if he knew his plan, which based on the timing of some things have seemed to point to a sale being the goal for awhile, and wanted to bring long time allies on board to earn stock in the company and benefit from the large premium values from the coming sale. Obviously a giant leap with no evidence but wild hunches but it would make a bit of sense for why in recent years he actively brought back people of the past back on in such high level roles out of the blue seemingly.

They're not though. Usually companies that see an increase in business aren't "circling the drain." Network subs were up 18% last year. Before COVID, they had live events and the paid shows in foreign countries and all other metrics were up too. People say that WWE is doing bad because they make questionable decisions that fans don't understand, but it's none of our business - it's theirs. I don't care who they hire behind the scenes as long as I like what I watch.

The moment I heard this story of Johnny Ace back in talent relations again, I swear the cringe was real. Good lord what a YES MAN position that will cater to Vince's out-of-touch bullshit. Vince just hires people to stroke his ego. I want WWE to succeed but it's so hard to watch with a boss that cares more about everything else but the quality, and its flaws, of the WWE product itself
Facts. This is why people say WWE would only get better once Vince is dead and gone. Shane, Stephanie, and Triple H need to take over everything. I think Shane McMahon would be perfect to run the company. Triple H, though I’ve never been a fan of his work, I like the fact that he sees talent and is willing to get them over. Vince is way too out of touch. He needs to give up his position and go home cause sometimes he wouldn’t know talent if it smacked him in the face. As for bringing back Johnny Ace, idk how that’s gonna work cause I’ve heard bad things about him.

That what WWE wanted. They no longer cared if the women could go 10-15 minutes every week. Until 2013 When NXT was really getting hot and the Inaugural Women's Champion was Crown. All the "Divas" where just there to be eye candy and provide an excuse for someone to take a piss break or grab something to eat. Only a very few women real acutely good during that time like Natalya & AJ Lee
