Thank you! Yes, I think it's important to show when issues arise - and if you never run into any problems, it probably means you're not challenging yourself enough!
What is the smallest stone that can be faceted on this machine? I found some garnets and sapphires but they are around 3mm and I wonder if I can use such machine to facet them in a convenient way?
The size of the stone is only limited by the size of the dop. My smallest dop has a 1.6 mm diameter tip. However, I generally avoid cutting anything smaller than ~5 mm and very rarely go down to 3 mm.
@@pawefilocha4421 They're more fiddly in general and don't have as much interesting play of color or dispersion since they're so small. I also sell many of the stones I cut, and I can't compete with overseas cutters that produce tons of smaller stones for pennies on the dollar.
Haha no, just a silly way of saying I faceted a few. The main piece was from Kyle at World Of Rockhounds. He has a YT channel and does live sales most every weekend, and has moldavite for sale if you're looking to buy.
Those look great. Nice to see the raw and the finish gems.
Beautiful job Patrick, they are awesome!! 👍😍👻🤪🌶
I like seeing the issues you came up against and how you dealt with them, they all turn out so beautifully.

@@DonohueLabs Thank you for the answer, but can you elaborate more why you are avoiding cutting such small stones?
