Always love these type of vids. Living in Tokyo in the early 2000s and being a part of the harajuku fashion scene, it’s interesting to see how much of an influence her collection has on gothic lolita and the Japanese punk and visual kei scenes.
I was born in 1971, and was a teen in the 80s. I wanted to be a fashion designer “when I grew up”, and Westwood was and is soooo inspiring and influential. (So was Keith Haring, RIP). Thank you for doing this video.
Vivienne was very influential on many different fashion subcultures worldwide but mini-crini was SO important/influential for lolita fashion. The short cupcake silhouette of her mini-crini skirts is now the foundational silhouette of lolita fashion coordinates. I can't remember if it debuted earlier but she also invented the rocking horse shoe, another big lolita fashion staple. I noticed some bloomer shorts in the collection too which might be a precursor to pumpkin pants, common in ouji or "prince" fashion, a companion to lolita's princess. Her heart-shaped and boston bags have also been very popular accessories in lolita fashion for decades!
Definitely do a 90s. Westwood's collection of Victorian insanity was used in the Robert Altman movie "Ready to Wear". Of all the clothes, her's was the most memorable.
I've come to realize throughout this video that Vivian has some of my favorite styles: punk/rock-fashion, creepers, pirate-inspired fashion, platform shoes, stripes & plaid patterns, suits and pearl necklaces of course!
I'm 42 and when I was a teenager I loved watching Fashion file and never missed an episode. I only found your videos a few months ago and I gotta say you've made me fall in love with Fashion again and the art form it really is, thank you. Also I think you're hilarious
Please I am begging you Luke please go into the 90s era till the present as it was spectacular and we really need to have this to get the scope of her brilliance . This was highly enjoyable, in-depth and truly detailed . More please . I love this ! Excellent ❤⚔️🏴☠️
Brilliant. And thank you for such detail regarding Harris Tweed coming from Scotland and trained in tailoring by my father. He would have loved how you specified’British’ and ‘English’ tailoring being from Irish.
Here from your BAFTA video shoutout! Ty for the history lesson, compiling accurate historical info into digestible and INTERESTING media is so valuable and harder than it seems! Would love to see more videos like this from you ♥️
Well done retrospective on an iconic fashion designer who obviously influenced generations. Westwood is presented here as a prophetic voice and one who did not give up on her vision.
I love your videos Luke! You've taught me so much about fashion! I personally loved the Harris Tweed collection, especially the school uniforms and corsets. Vivienne Westwood was truly one of a kind. Please talk about her collections in the 90s next!
Love this so so so so much!!! 🖤🖤🖤 Especially the part where you set the context for Minnie Crinny as it juxtaposed against what other designers were doing! Thank you! I would definitely watch your video on her 90’s collections!!!
I am not a student of fashion, unless you count watching you as my educator, and I do. I own a Harris Tweed sports coat, and frequently heard the name “ Harris Tweed “. Well I asked Siri, and I was thrilled to find out about Scottish history and Hebrides wool fabric. I wish I knew more about this. The point is, although not a fashionista, I was proud that I’d picked out and still wear a quality garment in which I feel sort of “ special “. Love your videos.
Recently went to the Punk Rock museum in Vegas & there are some truly incredible leather jackets & other clothes in there D.I.Y'ed by now famous musicians back when they were young & not famous. Those bone shirts immediately reminded me of the museum & I think it would be insanely cool to make one!! I wonder if you could get fake bones(?) I'd live to make one with fake bones lol
Thanks! What a trailblazing woman! I do have to admit that as someone who has a bad habit of spraining my left ankle, I shudder at the thought of those ultra high-heeled WW shoes that made Naomi stumble on the catwalk - knowing the pain, that's the stuff of nightmares for me.😀
LOVE HER!! its just all such a vibe, like its giving: dirty poor ppl stealing clothes from the rich and making it werrrrrrkkkk and i live for it, pirate luxury is my forever aesthetic now tysm ♥
Hi, I don't know if you made a video showing this item and I didn't know if it's vivian Westwood but it was similar to the double waistbanded skirt from Westwood. Instead of the jean strips in-between connecting it, it has grommets and safety pins or rings connected them together. I'm also pretty sure it was pleated. If you happen to know what I'm talking about can you tell me what the designers name was? Please and thank you

I love your videos Luke! You've taught me so much about fashion! I personally loved the Harris Tweed collection, especially the school uniforms and corsets. Vivienne Westwood was truly one of a kind.

I'm a nineties kid, you need to do a video on Vivienne's 90's collections.
Love this so so so so much!!! 🖤🖤🖤 Especially the part where you set the context for Minnie Crinny as it juxtaposed against what other designers were doing! Thank you! I would definitely watch your video on her 90’s collections!!!

Yes please Mr Haute, make an episode of Vivienne from the 90s also. Please.

Love this so much - thank you for sharing! 90s! 90! 90s!!!!
Oh that flat fronted bodice/corset... still kicking around as a panne velvet rip off in goth shops of the mid nineties. How I wanted one....
Omg yes yes yes I love these kinds of videos ❤🎉
I would love to hear a podcast with you ❤
I remember seeing Herrings prints on music videos in the 80s. In the videos themselves. I never knew at the time where it came from.
LOVED this video, thank you so much! Please do a 90s video! I love that you reference the designer’s work through your outfit. ❤
You are quite the wordsmith on top of it all.
Please! I love VW but I am indeed more mesmerized by your fun, interesting videos and knowledgeable approach to fashion and designers❤
I now forgive my mother for dressing me in homemade plaid skirts in the early 80's - Thank you Luke!

Out of all the designs I’ve seen I’ve NEVER seen those wow they’re so cool. She was just so damn cool.
Recently went to the Punk Rock museum in Vegas & there are some truly incredible leather jackets & other clothes in there D.I.Y'ed by now famous musicians back when they were young & not famous.

I do have to admit that as someone who has a bad habit of spraining my left ankle, I shudder at the thought of those ultra high-heeled WW shoes that made Naomi stumble on the catwalk - knowing the pain, that's the stuff of nightmares for me.😀
Fashion nutrients....and food and fashion pun twisted like a pretzel. Love it.

Mini crini and a bit of Pirate is very reminiscent of leigh bowery's baby fashion show/styles.
Quality content

Forgot to mentioning the london club scene in the 80s Leigh Bowery Taboo kinky gerlinky Rachel auburn
Amazing😍
Wait....is Disney's 2021 Cruella based on Vivienne Westwood?
Beautiful ugh 🎭
It should of been Vivienne instead of Karl for the MET Gala!
Did I spot Patsy Kensit as one of the models??
Yes @ 18:58
Luke can you do the billborad music awards and the Mnet Asian music awards?
"Fashion for everyone." With #Clardys Customs
❤❤
Love this! I have a necklace from the Seditionaries era; it's like the classic Tiffany's but the clasp is cock and balls 🤙🏾🤟🏾
My favorite part is that she got much better and more creative after she stopped working with the guy who called uncreative lol
$1 a month? Shittttttt lemme join
She will always be an icon but she will also always be a traitor
