I like her fashion since many years, her statements and her motivation to go on in life wherever you stand. She lifts you up, and her answer about the economy is great although a little simple. The economy is too complicated that is the problem. If it was easier it would works better but some people enjoy the world to suffer so they prescribe pills and operations, right? Common, it`s true, there are evil people out there who would like to see this world fall apart right now. And nothing holds them back, it will need Superman to save the world or somebody like him. I love Superman and I love Batman, and I do not love the bad guys who throw bombs etc.

Bless her but also, the fashion industry is a huge component of climate change and overuse of resources. Capitalism may drive people to buy buy buy but fashion encourages that same concept time and time again, season after season. When will designers and fashion brands own up to the portion of the world they are destroying?

There are such things as sustainable fashion and other facets that are trying to decrease in whichever way possible. However that said, I am proud to be a part of this industry but that doesn't mean my love for wildlife or the planet is redundant, fashion and art are my creative outlets and i have worked hard to get to where I am, i make changes where i can to accommodate the planet as much as possible. But i think it sucks when people assume the worst and it casts everyone under the same shadow. The fashion industry is very much aware of climate change and fashion houses and businesses etc are slowly taking action but you can't expect it all to just happen within the click of a finger. Vivienne is the forefront of this, she is using her platform to promote these issues which is better than and more than we could say for others in her position of power. Though tie is of the essence, patience has to be key, baby steps and all.

I had such a high expectation with this interview. The intention of the editor in chief of British Vogue of producing this kind of content is so pure, bringing Westwood to this massively consumed media to strengthen her statement about questioning what is currently happening is what the fashion community and the world in general need. However this intention was jeopardized by Noami, she was trying to make it all about herself, even interrupting Westwood in a rather rude way. She just clouded the whole point of the interview.
Yes definitely agreed with you on your observation as I believe Naomi spelled fallen DIVA with no further good publicity trying to make a come back to appease her bad characters in the industry. I think Dame Vivien knows well and she thought to herself this will be my last interview with British Vogue..

To diversify the tone of the interview and not on one same thing over and over again. The interview is also about their relationships and also the stories that we have not heard of before. Then, remember feelings aren't facts. These people don't have to do anything about climate change. They could sit in their lives and live out their days and not rock the boat. But they do rock the boat. By talking about this, they are biting the hand that feeds them - the Fashion Industry. It's those who own the industry who push the drive for profit. Designers and models are just successful employees working in the industry. They don't run the industry. They are just it's public face.
They are both practically retired from fashion industry and speaking from a lofty perspective of someone that has already cashed in multiple times. I believe that they couldn't do anything even if they wanted it. Because there is enough money and resources in the world today to extinguish both poverty and ecology issues but these are still there. So the question is why are those problems still there. Certainly not because Viv and Naomi were not so loud about them now... But I better be quiet, don't want to get hit in head with a phone by Naomi...

Much like the comment below, the fashion industry needs to realise and make public it’s affiliations and complicity with pollution… Both in the environmental sense and also in the psychological sense!
There are a lot of heads of marketing and Commerce, that make profit there only objective and whilst I cannot be a hypocrite as an artist, and say that there is no place for creative fabric design, it just needs to be re-imagined outside of the destructive violence of consumerism… Reduce, reuse, recycle

Yesterday in a branding class our teacher started an exercise to create a clothing line underneath the rebel archetype, and based on google trends pertaining to women’s fashion. (70’s is what’s trending). I brought up Vivienne Westwood as inspiration, and no one in the class knew who she was.

Only just watched this.Naomi was really good at steering Vivienne back to fashion and their past history together,which was fascinating.I think Vivienne would have talked exclusively about her activism and while interesting I wanted this to be about fashion and their intermingled history.Naomi allowed Vivienne her platform about her beliefs but help her ,in such a polite and gracious way,back to fashion.

This comment is intended to answer the people furious about Vivienne’s ridiculously priced garments. You people need to understand that economy and the market first. High supply and high demand creates an insane drop in the prices of fast fashion garments. No article of clothing in today’s economy should be $5 because when you think about it, It was made with so much crazy exploitation of the workers and fabric suppliers. Fashion workers and factories are people like you and me struggling to make a living. And when you start paying those people fair wages, take care of their working conditions, you are gonna have to raise your prices.
Another point is, the real evil thieves of the fashion industry that should be called out are the fast fashion (affordable) companies. Those companies capitalize almost fifty times as much as fashion houses do per hour. They are the ones ripping people off because even when the garments are waaayyyy cheaper, they are creating an insane supply of clothes and so you are gonna get out with an insane amount of bills and clothes.
The reason why good material is expensive for designers is those fast fashion companies and cheap labor exploitors creating less and less supply and demand for great material in the market. So you settle for less because you wanna buy more. Her wisdom is plain and simple, DO NOT BUY MORE, BUY LESS. BUY BETTER.

I've always been torn on the Vivienne Westwood AR because she knows she's a part of that system and these people. Except for turning the cheapest part of her maroquinerie line into vegan and writing "But less chose well" on t-shirts. And a part of me concludes that I must be ignorant about a lot of what she's done, she was indeed part of a system a lot of people was relying on her and she did what she could. (I'm still guilty of buying her products second-hand because I'm broke but love her brand 😅)
