Always good to mention that there's a " Break-in" period. I have the FS56RC and after 3 tanks of fuel it was WAAAAY better/stronger than at first start. Great trimmer for 5 acres.
@@marionfrieze9718 Sorry for late reply, I haven't been signed in. So, basically the Break In just means or consists of running the trimmer. The more you use it, when brand new, you'll find that it starts running better. Like quicker throttle response, higher RPMs, and most importantly...more power. Same thing with new chainsaws. Usually after 5 full tanks of fuel through it you'll be able to tell. Hope this helps.

I have one of these weedeaters, it is the most reliable weedeater i've ever had. It is 6 years old and still kickin on the same carb, sparkplug and shaft!
I bought my FS-56 RC- last week and had 1.25 tanks on it. Today, I primed it 5 times, put it in full choke and cranked it on the first pull. I then pushed it down to half choke and let it run there until the rpm stabilized. I then cut with it for 15 minutes, cutting some pretty weedy areas. I am very pleased with it and it is a lot easier to crank than my old Husqvarna 28L. It is running a mix of Stihl Moto Mix and my standard 45:1 Stihl Ultra with premium non ethanol gas.

The 128 husqvarna only lasted me three summers, only home use, never mistreated, I replaced the carburator, coil, sparkplug, fuel lines and still wouldn't start, I just gave up on it,I liked it because it was attachment capable, but the quality is not there, my fs55 sthil starts on first or second pull, after twelve years.
I just purchased that same exact unit from my local stihl dealer. It works great as advertised! Awesome power!! The only thing I’m struggling with is getting the trimmer line to feed properly. I’ve had to stop every 10-15 min or so to open the head and pull out the line. Any suggestions on how to successfully use the bump auto feature??
The thing I see the most is when too much line is wound into the head at once. Then you start to get hangups, so just be very cautious and precise on putting the correct amount of line into the head. This varies on whichever head you are using so make sure and follow the recommended amount when you are refilling your line.
Left store before pulling trigger on this. Wanted to do one final research. You did awesome appreciate it. Only thing I wanted to know because Im a noob is.. When it does run out of wire, are you refilling it with like a cheap under $10 thing of stihl line OR do you have to buy that $40 all inclusive plastic head each time you need to replace line?
I have the same exact model very reliable had over a couple of years and I use the pre mix but I never use half choke I only use full choke of the trimmers been sitting and then I squeeze the handle to shut the choke off and runs fine after
Hello. Great demo & review, thank you. I just got the FS56RC-E & was wondering if a rattling noise when idled on the ground is normal? When I set the line trimmer on the ground there is a rattling noise that sounds like its coming from the shaft at idle speed. Other then that it seems great. Runs fine & goes away when I give it gas. I was wondering if this is normal with this model because my previous trimmer was a FS80 & doesn't make this noise.
I wondered the same thing, I asked my local guy. He said it is completely normal, the clutch makes this noise when the shaft is spinning almost fast enough to disengage the clutch
@@deeznuts8967 I tried adjusting the carbs, checked the flex shaft & re-lubed. Still made the noise. I ended up tightening the 3 bolts in a row on the bottom side of the engine cover close to the trigger & that has fixed it! Hope this helps

hello so i recently bought the fs56rc and bought the stihil ultra HP oil , do i have to add that to the gas tank? the dealer i bought it from put gas but not sure if they put that oil in
You need to mix that oil with your gas in the ratio that it says on the bottle. mix it up in your gas can and then keep that can separate for your weedeater. You only want to run that as/oil mixture in your weedeater or other 2-cycle engines.
thanks ! only problem is they left it like 50% full and dont know if they expect me to add my oil but i will ask the dealer and same goes for a stihl bg55 blower right planning on getting one aswell, is $140 a good price used or new better thanks
I just purchased this unit today and this is my first time operating a weed eater. So, my beginner question is, how do I know when to replace the string? I should have asked this question in the store, but, I was all tied up in how to get it started and use it.
Awesome, I hope you like it! So when you notice no more string is coming out when you bump then head on the ground it is time to take the cover off of the head and see if you are out of string or if it is just broken off. I wish there was an easier way to check it but that is really the only way. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Mine has notches you put your fingers in them to turn. i feel it’s difficult to turn. I won’t buy this brand again They (the store)switched out to an old school head I have to wind, not happy .

Great video! I just purchased this trimmer. Starts good, runs good. After running hard for a couple hours the very first day, when it idles it intermittently makes a high squealing noise. Not an engine noise, but like something is rubbing, or catching. Only when at an idle. Any thoughts? I do have a video of the noise, if needed. Thank you!
Hey. Did you ever find out what the noise is or if its normal? I just got a FS56 & if I let it idle while sitting on the ground there is a rattling noise that sounds like its coming from the shaft. It runs great & only makes the noise when left in idle while on the ground. Was this the noise yours was making?
yeah, very nice trimmer. However, It would be nice to know if this unit can accept a cutting blade. Note some units like the 94 straight shaft will not take a blade.
It works well, especially if the machine is too heavy for a person. I personally do not use the strap but it is a nice option to have. Thanks for watching!
I’m glad you are enjoying your trimmer. The way to these this is to take the head completely off of the shaft and then take the cutting unit off of the head and then pack grease into both sides. Thanks for watching!
Depends on what you mean by speed feed. It does have the bump head that will let line come out on the go by bumping it on the ground. Now as far as the fast loading head that would have to be a separate purchase. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
You could by the edger head assembly and take off your trimmer assembly but as far as a specific edging attachment no. You can change the angle of the loop handle to make it easier to flip over for edging with you regular string trimmer head. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
You can add different heads to all of them but only certain models accommodate certain style heads. Did this answer your question? Thanks for watching!
I’ve used mine twice so far around the house. I will also use it with a blade for clearing brush on my 5 acres up north. Can’t wait to see how it holds up!
This could be a few different issues. I could be a fuel issue as in the machine may be pulsing so it could be your fuel filter or carburetor. Another thing is the plastic sleeve inside the shaft that protects your drive cable could be worn causing that drive cable to be flopping. Also you might check the screen on your muffler because it may be clogged causing your machine to have a hard time breathing. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
It can use various different sizes depending on which cutting head you use, but it will come standard with the orange .095. Thank you and thanks for watching!
Follow the owners manual and this thing will start in 1 pull every time maybe 3 if it's sat dormant for a few months. I own 2 Husqvarna chain saws a 440e and a 460, both of them I have to mess with for a 1/2 hour to get them started. I'm selling them and getting Stihl's

I wonder if they are going to be on sale Nationwide for Father's Day??
I just picked one up for my dad today because our local stores sale ends today at 6
Good question, I will have to look into this. Thanks for watching!
Does it spin counter clockwise??
Yes, it does. Thanks for watching!
I have a Stihl fs56 RC string trimmer with a auto speed feed trimmer head on it my trimmer head is bigger than your regular string trimmer head
Nice! Do you like it?
Looking to get this after using the fs55 I have been borrowing and it is very reliable
Great choice. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching!
I have this and fs 111. The 111 whole different level but cosidered brush cutter
Yes, this is true because it had a solid metal inner shaft which allows it to accommodate a metal blade for brush cutting or trimming.
What size line does this model take?
Great video!
It can use various different sizes depending on which cutting head you use, but it will come standard with the orange .095. Thank you and thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment awesome!
Thanks for the response.
Excellent video!
How easy is it to re-string the cutting head?
Not bad at all, especially if you buy the AutoCut EasySpool heads.
Great vid. In the market for this one
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Is it normal for this trimmer to vibrate alot at idle?
This is hard to say. Is it just vibrating or is it trying to die?
I have the same weedeater!! I found the strap makes it more annoying to use
I agree, when I use one personally I do not use the strap. Thanks for watching!
Greetings, Great video, well explained! Q: Due to the engine size, Can I put a weed plastic blades kit to the FS56? I will appreciate your response.
Yes, you can put the plastic blade kit on this machine. Thank you and thanks for watching!
Great Video! Thanks. I just bought this
Thank you and I hope you enjoy!
This is an excellent video, thank you!
Why didn't you tell Gearbox maintenance. Because my Fs56 had be placed replaced
Can you pit a pole saw attatchment on this model?
Since this is a cable shaft, it is not recommended.
Good demostration you said very good I give 1000👍to your way of explaining love it and sound is quite
Thank you so much and thanks for watching!
hey i have my stihl fs56rc leaking from the choke lever and i store it inside a garage engine upwards against the wall , only used it about 5 times
new machine
Did you see any bite prints?
What about loading wire..?
I will have a video on loading the head coming out on my other channel 247Parts soon so stay tuned and thanks for watching!
is there a way to grease the gearbox on the 56?
You can take it loose from the shaft and grease from that way I believe.
Great video - very informative
Great review! Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for this, very informative!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
Dose this take mixed fuel?
Yes, it does. Thanks for watching!
Yes it does
I have the older version of this. FS55R. Still runs great 👍 I love the gaurd on the stihl. Took it off once and it blew grass all over me. Great review! 🙂
Thanks for the continuous support!
My dad has a 55r and it is around 20 years old. It starts on the 1st pull every time
Please help me... Bought a brand new one and for the love of God it can't start no matter how many times or how hard I pull
@@alvesthegreat Do you have the choke engaged?? The engine cannot start if you're choking it out. Try starting it with the choke wide open and if it still refuses to start, try squeezing the throttle completely while you're pulling.
What model do you have?
@@psacgvolunteers I have the fs55....
I did choke it... But it's so hard to start my shoulder is now sore....
A friend of mine came and emptied the gas... Then he started it then refilled it.....
Weird
What size string is this?
This one has .095. Good question and thanks for watching!
I was going to go with this unit for my mowing business but went with the Srm 225 instead
Probably not a bad choice. Thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment you bet.
How's that 225 work out for you? Mine was bunk.
You really did a great job ...Two thumbs up
