The Power of OpenSUSE YAST

- YAST - perhaps the most configurable of the Linux installers giving you full control over your installation.
This is also the first video using the Olive editor and vocal compression via a new Yamaha mixer board. My viewers often comment that my voice is too quiet. That's because I'm not a fan of compression and everyone else users it. However, the public gets what the public wants.... :)
I've used Ubuntu for a long time and that's just a mind blowing to see that level of customization during install. Ubuntu's install wizard just lacks in every aspect. I wish I knew about YAST sooner. Thank you for your video
I love the YAST installer, it's not for everyone tho. But when you get your head around it, it become really powerful. Great video.
I always carry a Live version of openSuse with me, it's one of the best distributions.
I’ve recently distro-hopped to Tumbleweed and your videos have proved very useful. Particularly the one on updating. I was previously working on the assumption that ‘zypper up’ was equivalent to ‘pacman -Syu’ and would keep me rolling. How wrong I was! Thank you for the informative and well presented content
Not going to lie, but I never knew I could choose what softwares I want on my OpenSuse machine !!! I have used OpenSuse in VM.
I was considering switching from my current distro (it is a rolling distro) to OpenSuse. Mainly beacuse of YaST and other utilities it ships with.
I don't think you are alone :) - the temptation with installers is to just click through the defaults, which is fine for most distros as they offer limited options. Then one day during a tumbleweed install I thought ' I wonder what happens if I click these headings ' :)
@@redrobbosworkshop Hmmm, "I wonder what happens if I click these headings" can sometimes open a huge can of wriggly worms and to get the lid back on has, on occasions, required a re-install; oh the humanity.
N.B. -This is indicative of my level of incompetence and ability to hit the "PANIC" button and NOT to any fault in any Linux Distribution. Thank goodness for VM's. B-)
