It's been a long time since I posted a video. My PC was crash, some designs had to be delayed, and finally, I got the chance to make a tutorial again.
Today's tutorial is simple, I'll show you simple ways how to fill the text with lines.
This is very basic, we only use the blend tool, pathfinder, select similar object and eyedropper tool to create a nice line text.

Cool tutorial. Wondering if this technique would be better with clipping masks? Clipping masks would allow you more freedom in editing the final appearance as you could still adjust the original lines. Using the Pathfinder as you have shown will certainly give you the final result but it removes the ability to go back and make changes if needed, and using clipping masks may allow you to do more text at the same time.
I understand what you mean, with a clipping mask we can work non-destructively. But the results I want to achieve are controls on the lines that fill the text, such as controls on the line cap and width profile.

im having an issue like a bleeding in line or smthng especially around curves or corners
just select those paths and give them the stroke and no fill again
@@visualdosage234 it doesn't work tho
You can fix that by changing the stroke property at the corners, from pointed to curve...
For anyone having the same issue: just press CTRL+E, and it's fixed

This is great, but I had a problem when I used the Pathfinder > Outline. (I should add that I'm relatively new to Illustrator) When I did that, the text had jagged blocks of color all around the edges. I'm pretty sure I followed everything you showed, but got a different result. What did I miss?
Ctrl + E or Go to View > Preview on CPU. The jagged just the preview.

the script doesn't exist by default. You need to download and add it to Illustrator.

When randomizer was mentioned, me: Huh? What does it do?
When randomizer was shown, me: Holy crap that was awesome!
Object > Expand is dimmed out in the menu and cannot be clicked. I followed every single step, but it's not working at all. It creates double paths for each circle.
If you can point me to the timing of the video maybe I can help...
I have same problem at 3:45
the outline pathfinder doesn't work that way for me, it has no other effect than groups the circles.
you probably need to fill the individual paths then group, not fill the group

I think u should go through some basic videos first...
at 5:14 I select the lines and try and change the the stroke but nothing changes- no matter what stroke I set or color- nothing applies- any suggestions?
Make sure you not in outline mode (ctrl+y)

I've bump into a little bit problem here... the randomus script doesnt work on my illustrator it just pick 1 color for all the strokes eventhough I've pick several color. Any helps?
If you want randomize the stroke colors, make sure the stroke on the top.

You need install the script on your system.

The artwork size is 3000*3000 pt and the font name is Raleway (Bold)

I've got a problem, when i use the pathfinder nothing happens ! The circle group disappears but the text stay in full colors ! Please help me !
Right click on the text, click on create outlines. Try again.

Kind of a newbie to Illustrator - when I reach 2:51, "Make" is greyed out under Blend. What am I doing wrong?
May be your circle have fill color, make sure both circle just have stroke.

bang kok script nya ga bisa ya.. kaya error pas milih swach.. mohon bantu bang
Coba pilih dulu beberapa swatchesnya baru pake scriptnya. Kurang tau juga knpa, kadang ada yg bisa milih swatches pas buka windows scriptnya, ada juga yg gak bisa.
Dan juga jgn lupa klo mau ngerandom warna fill, pastikan fillnya di atas. Demikian pula klo mau ngerandom warna stroke (tekan x buat gantiny)

When I use the pathfinder tool, the lines within the letters are gross (heavy and angled), I'm so confused
Yes, sometime illustrator rendering is wierd, that because the line have stroke color but stroke weight is 0. Just increase the stoke weight, the line will be fine

Cara seleksi warna nya dari kanan ke kiri itu gimana ya?
Maksudnya seleksi garis ? Klick and drag pada area yg ingin diseleksi dgn selection tool. Kemudian beralih ke eyedropper tool untuk sampling warna garis.
Bisa juga tetap di eyedropper tool, tahan ctrl maka eyedropper akan berganti ke selection tool buat milih object, lepas ctrl maka akan kembali ke eyedropper buat sampling warna.

Biar mudah pastikan warna textnya berbeda dari warna garis, pastikan garis blend itu di expand lbh dahulu (ke tab object > blend > expand), sebelum ke proses pathfinder (outline), dan pastikan posisi text diatas garis2 tsb
