I totally agree that they should have put one more figure in here (especially considering maple is stuck being exclusive to a polybag) ,But the fact that all the other sets come with party hats with the intention of those villagers being invited to Jullians party is really cute and gives a sense of connectivity through the wave
I love these Animal crossing sets - they really hit the spot with my kids and encourage them to build big with their box of bricks to make an island - I haven’t seen them this stoked for Lego in ages!
The more I see these sets, the more tempting they become as a lifelong Nintendo fan. There are so many details that are accurate to the game, such as the trees containing bells or tree branches that drop if you shake the tree. It's clear the designers understood not just the content of the games, but the main appeal of customization and how that perfectly fits Lego as a brand. Fun Fact: This Friday (March 15th) is actually Julian's official birthday
Three minifigs. The gifts could be the big one that opens plus a box and top, with a present inside. Get rid of the other two gifts, skateboard, and two small platforms. Don't need the smaller treats, we only get cake and three drinks. The head accessories should just be three hats that are different colors. More of a "battle pack" than a depressing solo party.
This is honestly the rare occasion where this really needed a higher budget, because this is not a party with only one figure! And I'm not even someone who's crazy over figures! This set really needs four figures at least, to make it feel more like a proper party. As it is, while the value is okay, this is really more of an expansion set for the other major sets like Isabelle's Visit, or Cap'n's Island Tour or Nook's Cranny.
One fun thing LEGO did is include the party hats in multiple sets, suggesting adding friends to Julian’s party. It does reinforce that this set doesn’t feel like one to buy alone, though.
The only complaint I have for this set is that it feels like it really should have come with two mini-figures so that Julian didn't have to be all alone for his Birthday party
As a mom I feel really bad for little Julian! On the game I always spend some time with the characters when it’s their birthdays. Husband thinks I’m mad! He’s probably got a point! lol
I do wish Julian came with a tail piece; it’s less of an issue with characters with shorter tails like Bunnie or Fauna. Also, Julian’s birthday officially is the 15th, and Fauna’s is the 26th.
my biggest (small) issue with this is the characters are so central - and in the game they have a little Bio card with character traits etc - that would have been super simple to add into the instruction manual and adds a lot of personality
Great video. Fun colors and great review. Cant wait for tonight’s charity stream for Starlight Charity. Thank you again . Your reviews always cheer me up. 😊
I Just love this theme. Sad that the cheapest set isn't as good as the rest of the line, and arguably a questionable choice to make the grass look so different, but I think they know players loved the cherry blossom season and wanted to offer an official build for the trees of that season right away (and also Julian's birthday I'm guessing falls in that part of the season). Definitely agree this needed another character and it would've felt a better deal
Julian having no one to interact with actually fits very well into the Animal Crossing gameplay experience, where there’s always a few villagers that you as a player intensely dislike for some irrational reason and then ignore for as long as you can in the hope they’ll move out and someone better will move in instead. Sooo… sorry Julian, but nobody here likes you and wants to come to your birthday, so why don’t you try the next village and perhaps you’ll make some actual friends there?
This one, despite only coming with one figure, is the best valued out of all of the sets, at least for me. Julian is one of my favorite villagers from the games, so it was a really big deal for me to see him get his own full lego set. A bit of a pet peeve concerning the set’s concept however is that all villager birthday parties (including the player’s) take place in their own houses! So really we should have got a full interior house for him 😣
It really bugs me they chose a character whose birthday is in a different season than all the other sets. Other than that this is very solid. Kinda wish it had another minifig but that's it. Although Julian himself is a fantastic minifig.
Strange that they used 2x2 bricks when we have a 2x2 openable present piece that could have worked just as well. Would have made for 2 more openable presents, and if Lego wanted to be really stingy they could split the 3 included accessories among the now 3 openable presents (the spares give kids plenty to play with anyhow)
I have no interest in buying this set. I just love listening to you and your videos. I find them very relaxing and entertaining. Even on the sets that I will never buy. As I am only interested in the modulars.
It's a ploy, Lego is _forcing_ you to buy other sets if you want to populate the party 😂 I wonder how the sets look together if you attached all the platforms in a straight line to make a really long scene
You got to love how this set is meant to be a birthday party but you only get Julian's. This means that no one wants to be at his birthday party
I mean look at Julian's expression. Sadness incarnate 😞
😭✊

The real guests to Julian’s Birthday was you, the builder!
The fact that this is only set in the wave with that olive green grass makes it clash with the rest of the wave. making this set even lonelier.

I've never heard of animal crossing, but it's interesting they decided to have a sad lonely unicorn as the only person at a birthday party.
Agree with the desire to open a few more of the presents, the smaller ones could have made good use of that the 2x2 crate element.

Poor Julian. Happy Birthday buddy!

Lovely set but i dont see any problems with it. I always celebrate my bdays alone, lol.
It reminds me of my childhood birthdays - spent alone
I agree that an additional friend or 2 should have been added! Fun fact about the stereo: the pink knob can actually be rotated!
Accurate depiction of Julian’s birthday party for the last 2 years that I haven’t visited my island
This is a tragedy! Julian deserves people at birthday Lego, you monsters.

I wish I got all that on my birthday.. all the lights and the balloons
Looks exactly like my birthday…
Nice animal crossing cuite birthday set great review jang 👍
Teal & purple skateboard is a top tier colour combo IMO
It should be considered as a GWP and definitely not a set by itself.
RIP Julian
Looks like a fun set, though maybe more as a companion to some of the others.
Zero interest in AC but this is a great and lovely set

Fabuland forever! 😁
Great review! It’s my least favorite set, but still really nice to get Julian :)
No one came to the party 😢
🙂🐯👍 Love this Animal Crossing Sets in General Reminds me on My Childhood...🙂🥰👍

Nobody else showed up to the birthday party :(
Looks a little lonely, poor Julian!
yeah, the birthday party without anyone looks really sad 😅
a cute little set but it's not working for me because it's the only spring themed set.
how should i add this to all the summer sets?
I grabbed plates from the Mario sets to replace the spring ones and it fits in nice now! But yeah it sticks out like a sore thumb without spare plates
It doesnt really look like animal crossing to me 🤨
I usually love the 15 to 20 dollar set but this one doesn't really appeal to me
I have no interest in buying this set. I just love listening to you and your videos. I find them very relaxing and entertaining. Even on the sets that I will never buy. As I am only interested in the modulars.

Nobody wants to be friends with Julian 😢
Ngl it annoys me that Julian's birthday isn't in cherry blossom season
You had one job smh
Looks to much like fabuland.
What an ugly set. This theme is so weird.
