In the first of our coaster showdown series, we take a look at how The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, UK stacks up against the ride which inspired it - Cedar Point's Magnum XL-200.
Brilliant video,I will tell you what I think of the Big one,biggest pile of trash,an embarrassment to our coaster collection,I,ve ridden Magnum and lots of other coasters,Even Desperado is far superior to Big one.
Thanks for your comment Andrew. Yes it had a lot of potential - I can't forget how significant it was for the year of '94 but after re-riding it again earlier this year, I think it's firmly at the very bottom of my list which is such a shame.
I live in Blackpool and I use to ride it all the time back in the 90s and I would over hear people saying when they got off what a load of rubbish and sometimes I heard people say its shite even before the ride got half way round.I really hope it gets torn down and replaced with something better.@@themeparkgo
@andrewbarrett42 I think the coaster as a concept is good. Just needs replacing with something from Intamin or better - Mack and with a better layout. May as well make it a few feet higher too ;)
Yes but sadly it will never happen if some other company buys the pleasure beach.Shambala is an amazing coaster and that would be a very good replacement.@@themeparkgo
Big One has a great first drop but after that it does nothing with all that speed. Never ridden Magnum but would love to...Will be riding the newest tallest UK coaster next month, can't wait!
