As much as i love the Big One and it's a big part of my childhood and I'll always hold a special spot for it I can't help but think what kind of B&M they could have built with all that room
@@iitzfizz Not all of them do (looking at you, Dragon Khan) but Nemesis totally holds up, still one of the best. The fact that is is a bit more blunt and less refined than newer B&Ms (compare and contrast Black Mamba) gives it an edge that others lack.
i first went to this park when i was 6 10 yrs ago, and went again for the opening week of ICON, and ive got to say this park is underrated and deserves more attention throughout the world. Hopefully we get some new attractions throughout the next decade to boost this park to its full potential.
@@Milani-qe7jp fantasy island is an odd one because they’re two great coasters but it’s more of a fairground than an amusement park! It’s built around/over a fully functioning market!
This park is really good for pacing so many rides in such a small area. Black pool pleasure beach says, who needs to expand when you can find a way to work with what you got. This park is like the UK Gröna Lund.
When you put the big one below revolution I was initially shocked but then when I thought about it I completely agree, the big one is a brilliant ride and obviously a classic to the pleasure beach but I think after the first drop it’s sort of just a long dragged out ride, whereas revolution is really the only ride I genuinely get nervous to go on and the wait to go backward is so intense!
1).The Big One. (The drop and views are just too good to not be number 1). 2). Icon 3). Valhalla (if it ever bloody opens) 4). Grand National - especially now it’s been re-tracked. Best woody in UK 5). Revs 6). Big Dipper
I visited Southport and rode Infusion, or Traumatizer as it was known then, when I was about 13. It was my first ever looping coaster and it scared the pants off me, but I’ve been a thrill seeker ever since! I rode it again in Blackpool a couple of years back and it was nowhere near as good somehow. Just seemed harsh and rough in comparison with how it was at Southport. Maybe it’s an age thing but I think there’s more to it than that and it just didn’t handle being dismantled and put back together in a new location perhaps.
Ah man, Hannah and I would love to meet up with you and Charlotte for a day in any theme park. We’re discovering these parks are a hidden joint hobby of ours. You two are inspiring. We just wish our friend groups were also into theme parks! Love watching your videos, keep up the fantastic work! 👍
Thank you Shaun for this amazing video! Now I now which Rollercoaster is the best! Hats off for your effort and hard work in making these videos! Keep rocking Shaun!!!!😊😊😊😊
Icon is a fantastic ride.Been on it loads of times, and is my favourite UK coaster. However I love Infusion.I love the anticipation going up the lift hill and the turn after the lift always kills my stomach. The Big One is ok,but after the first drop it is boring with no intensity or airtime.I agree that The National had got really rough.
Another great video as always Shawn, you're a legend. I've never been to Blackpool Pleasure Beach before so I'm definitely going to visit this year for the first time. :)
I'm in Blackpool this week, and have done all the coasters, so here is my 2022 rank. 1. Icon - Hands down the best coaster I've ever been on, so smooth while keeping the speed and intensity. Love the launch, love the inversions, love the two parts to it, just love everything about it. Miles ahead of everyrthing else in the park 2. The Big Dipper - An absolute classic. I was on this yesterday and actually clapped at the end of it, such a fun ride, and given its so old, quite the achievement 3. Grand National - The first coaster I ever rode back in the 80s. A little rough in places, but the racing dynamic is still great, and the dips are fantastic. Great speed too. 4. Infusion - Gets a lot of bad press, but I love it. It's a little short, it's a little bumpy, but overall the most intense ride in the park. Had it been as smooth a Icon, would be challenging it for the top spot. 5. Revolutuon - Another classic, too short, but that backwards section still gives me the fear! 6. Nickelodeon Streak - AKA the Roller Coaster, a good old fashioned ride, nice. 7, Avalanche - A dull coaster really, nice and fast, but not much to it. 8. Steeplechase - Decent, classic ride. Not fast enough for me, but still ok. 9. Blur Flyer - Simple, short, for kids really, but still quite fun. 10. The Big One - This used to be my favourite ride, but other than the first drop which is still great, the rest of the ride is the most painful experience I've ever had on a coaster. I'm going back to the Pleasure Beach tomorrow and this is the only coaster I'm not going back on. Iconic, can see it for miles, but awful other than the first drop.
Went pleasure beach to ride my first ever rollercoasters last week. Went straight on the big one- what a ride! Went on infusion as well. My mate told me to put my head right back just like you said and I’m very glad I did. Not a great one. Very excited to go to Alton towers hopefully next year, but loved blackpool. Live in Preston, so it’s very nearby.
Went yesterday. Didn't managed to get onto Icon, and my sister refused to go onto Revolution so we gave that a miss too! But I have to say my favourite was The Big One. I agree with Revolution, my arms were aching after getting off from being ragged around so much.
Haven’t done any of them yet but I’m certainly looking forward to getting out there hopefully this year to ride them classic woodies. They may be getting rough now like everyone says but they’re classics and the park wouldn’t be the same without them
Infusion is an awful ride, but I love the off ride look. I would gaze at it in awe as a child, wondering what it is like to be flipped upside down. When I finally rode it, I wish I hadn’t. Not even worth the credit
You’re a legend mate 😂👍. My list goes a bit more like this but i agree with everything you say. Mine is the viewpoint of not a mega enthusiast so its more based on how likely i am to ride each one: 1) Grand National 2) Icon 3) The Big One 4) Revolution 5) Big Dipper 6) Nickelodeon Streak 7) Steeplechase 8) Infusion 9) Avalanche 10) Blue Flyer

Revolution is still a launch coaster I think as a push is still a launch just like a cable launch pulls you forward revolution pushes you forward/ backwards
Best park in the UK (imo) hope they can top ICON! But it will be hard! My ranking: 1.ICON 2. The Big One 3. Revolution 4. Big Dipper 5. Nick streak 6. Avalanche 7. Grand national (higher if worked on) 8. Blue Flyer 9.Steeple chase 10. Infusion

10 - blue flyer, very short and simple 9 - Nick streak, not that intense tbh its alright 8 - infusion, too rough for me 7 - grand national, a bit rough 6 - Avalanche, hurts your belly if you pull restraint to far haha 5 - steeplechase, rough on the hips! 4 - Big dipper, its alright 3 - revolution, too intense for me! 2 - The big one, its a little rough in some areas 1 - Icon (obviously) 0 - Wallis and gromit thrill o matic :D
1. icon 2. big one 3. big dipper 4. revolution 5. avalanche 6. nickelodean streak 7. steeplechase 8.grand national 9. blue streak (have not ridden but infusion sucks) 10.infusion
This is my list from being young, turning older then going on bigger rollercoasters. Blue flyer- steeplechase- avalanche- Big Dipper, Roller coaster- grand National- revolution- icon- big one
1. Icon 2.big one 3.big dipper 4.revolution 5.infusion 6.avalanche 7.streak 8.blue flyer 9.steeple chase 10.grand national (would be higher when they retrack)
Great video as usual! haven’t been on icon or avalanche yet but my top 8 is: 8: Infusion (too rough) 7: Blue Flyer (one of my first coasters) 6: Steeplechase 5: Big One (I find it rough and a bit of a monorail) 4: Nickelodeon Streak 3: Revolution (my first coaster with an inversion) 2: Grand National (last time I rode it wasn’t too rough) 1: Big Dipper Love the Big Dipper so much because I love my history and it’s the 9th oldest coaster in the world!!! Is Leap the Dips in the USA on your bucket list? because it definitely is on mine!
Shawn, I’d be really intrigued to know; as well as park rankings, have you ever considered doing rankings of different ride types? For example, your ranking of the RMCs, or your ranking of the B&M hyper coasters? I’d imagine that you’ve probably done quite a significant proportion of most of the major ride types now, so I’d be really intrigued to hear your opinion on some of them!
Love Blackpool pleasure beach and Thorpe park those 2 are my favourite theme parks in the UK can't wait to go back to these theme parks again to have a thrilling time of my life
Shame that Infusion couldn't challenge nemesis. Not that I'm complaining though, Nemesis is my favourite coaster in the UK, and I don't want that to change, such a brilliant ride. 👍
My list is a slightly odd one, it goes like this: 1.) Icon 2.) Big One 3.) Infusion (probably the most controversial take on this list) 4.) Revolution 5.) Nick Streak 6.) Avalanche 7.) Big Dipper 8.) Grand National 9.) Blue Flyer 10.) Steeplechase
I couldn't agree more about Icon and Infusion. I went to a Blackpool Pleasure Beach for the first time recently and absolutely hated Infusion and absolutely loved Icon. Icon is one of the best rollercoasters in the country, in my opinion.
1 icon: Love how cool The intensity is 2: Revolution I agree that when it goes upside down both ways it cool but colour lost it touch 3 Big one: again bravo Record breaker it dives cool Good views lovely however can be bit unreliable 4 infusion This rollercoaster going over water makes this stand out for me 5 Big dipper Soo Realistic like sometimes on it thought I hit my head so I ducked
Firstly I'd like to say i'm really enjoying your output of late Shawn. I would place Nick Streak higher than the Grand National. I used to love the National back in the day but in recent years it's become uncomfortably rough whereas the Streak is still kind of smooth for an old woodie IMO.
My ranking would go #10 Steeplchase - hurts my backside #9 Grand National - shatters my rib cage #8 Infusion - batters my head #7 Blue Flyer - not bad for a kiddie coaster #6 Avalanche - vibrates every bone in my body (does add to the intensity though) #5 Nickelodeon Streak - mild air time, a lil rough though #4 Big Dipper - Nickelodeon Streak but better (runs well for its age) #3 Big One - awesome experience, but lacks thrills and can be rough #2 Revolution - I agree it’s really fun, it’s not very long but it is very intense #1 Icon - most airtime on any coaster in the UK (in my opinion)
I agree with your list shawn for all the same reasons but revolution was the shock! Id put the big one as no 2. As for infusion it needs the new restraints to make me want to ride it again! It makes jubilee at fantasy island feel smooth!
10.Infusion (So painful 😫) 9.Blue flyer 8.Revolution 7.Steeplechase 6.Big dipper 5.Avalache 4.Grand national 3.Streak 2.The big one 1.ICON (Favourite coaster in the uk) ❤
1. Icon 2. Big One 3. Big Dipper 4. Revolution 5. Infusion 6. Nickelodeon Streak 7. Avalanche 8. Grand National - So painful, maybe its where I sat but I haven't dared ride a second time. Haven't ridden Steeplechase or Blue Flyer
My list it 1. Icon 2. Grand National 3. The Big One/Pepsi Max 4. Revolution 5. Big Dipper 6. Steeple Chase 7. Nickelodeon streak 8. Infusion 9. Avalanche 10. Blue Flyer
Not gonna lie: of the three parks in the U.K. I visited in late Oct. - early Nov. '19: Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Alton Towers and Thorpe Park; Blackpool was my favourite of the three with Alton Towers coming in 2nd. It's compact, inexpensive and has my favourite coaster lineup in the U.K. with rides like Revolution, The Big Dipper, Grand National and Icon. It's also both inexpensive and historic. I probably don't hate Infusion as much as you do bu it is pretty rough. Sadly it's the only Vekoma SLC I've ridden. I rode Lightning Loops at Six Flags Great Adventure in 1981 rode the lower (blue) track 1st. It's now called The Diamondback and is the same coaster as "Revolution" with longer trains. Icon is the best coaster in the park and possibly in the U.K. Thanks for posting!
I agree about Revolution, that ride has a kick,I,ve ridden rollercoasters all over the USA ,200 ft,300 ft 400 ft ones but none of them offer that stomach feeling that you get on Revolution and its only a 50 ft drop, like if you are in very back the first drop is the fastest bit and when you get pushed through the loop when going back wards.I find the most exciting ride there.I use to ride it all the time.
Here's how I feel about the mobius loop situation creditwise: If I have to queue twice for both sides, it's two credits, like any racing coaster. If I queue once, it's one. So Twisted Colossus: one credit. Grand National: two credits.
My list is: 1. Icon 2. Big One 3. Grand National 4. Big Dipper 5. Avalanche 6. Infusion 7. Steeplechase 8. Revolution I haven't been on the two other family coasters.
10: Revolution (too painful, it kills my shoulders lol) 9: Blue Flyer 8: Infusion 7: Steeple Chase 6: Avalanche 5: Nickelodeon Streak 4: Big Dipper 3: The Big One 2: Grand National 1: Icon
My top ten: 1. Icon (Simply the best) 2. The Big One (Iconic) 3, Grand National (It is rough but still love the airtime and speed of it) 4. Revolution (Short but sweet) 5. Big Dipper (Classic) 6. Avalanche (Bit short but unique) 7. Nickelodeon Streak (Looks nice and comfy seats) 8. Steeplechase (Solid) 9. Infusion (Head bashing ruins it although looks great off ride) 10. Blue Flyer (Only one I haven't ridden)
I get where your coming from with infusion I did it as one of my first rides of the day once smacked my head that many times I was sick and couldn’t do anything after but over the past 2 years the rides have been good and I haven’t actually banged my head that much
SF Great Adventure had a roller coaster called Lightning Loops and it was the same as Revolution. They had two of them and they intertwined with each other. So if you were looking at it from above it would look like a big X and in the middle of the X would be the two loops if that makes sense. They rarely ran both trains at the same time though. I remember one time there was no one on it at night and my friend and I must have marathoned it like 15 times, was so fun.
Never had a ride on icon. But he is actually spot on having Rev in the top 3 as it packs a punch. Believe he has taken it too far regarding 10th spot though, that is just trying to get a comment reaction and to befair it clearly worked
From looks revolution in blackpool probably has backwards ejector like diamond back at frontier city, another arrow shuttle loop here in the US. Amazing vid.
My list: 10 blue flyer 9:big one 8;icon 7:infusion 6:big dipper 5:steeplechase 4:avalanche 3 nickelodeon streak 2:i forgot number 2 lol 1;Grand national In my opinion grand national is a fun roller coaster and its my all tiem favourite roller coaster
My top 3 is Big 1, Infusion and icon in 1st. I don't think vekoma slcs are too bad. Watching this while I'm doing home schooling, you are really getting me through by making your vids.
I haven't ridden Big One or Grand National for a long time as they were closed when Iast visited. 7. Steeplechase 6. Nickelodeon Streak 5. Big Dipper 4. Avalanche 3. Revolution 2. Icon 1. Infusion (so smooth, fantastic drop, basically a water themed Nemesis, I don't get the hate)
Isn’t revolution very smooth for being 42 years old and being built by arrow dynamics And could you please rank flamingo land rides next and poltons park
10. Infusion 9. Steeplechase 8. Blue Flyer 7.Big Dipper (haven’t rode in 3 years) 6. Nickelodeon streak 5. Avalanche 4. Big one 3. Revolution 2. Grand National 1. Icon
Honestly the new rides bring shock which is a good thing, obviously they will be smoother and less likely to slam you into the sides. But I have to say the other rides that do sometimes slam you into the sides are probably the best at Blackpool mainly because of the memories and the fun too be honest but I completely agree with your choices, I’m going soon on Friday the 11th for my birthday
It’s really hard to believe that the big one and nemesis were built in the same year. Totally different eras of roller coasters.
Shockwave (Intamin standup) was also built in 1994!
I just commented this on another video.
Nemesis still feels modern to this day, B&Ms age much better imo, like fine wine

Grand national supremacy!!!

Agreed: nothing much really happens after that first drop. If there was a loop at some part of it it'd be a different story!
I have to disagree you just go forward and backward on revolution the big one is far superior at least for me
So lucky to have Blackpool pleasure beach on my doorstep!
It’s such a fantastic park. We can’t wait to return!
Icon is by far my favourite Coaster!
When I last went, I forgot how rough the coasters were but Icon was one of the smoothest ones I’ve EVER been on

4: Nickelodeon Streak
3: Revolution (my first coaster with an inversion)
2: Grand National (last time I rode it wasn’t too rough)
1: Big Dipper
Love the Big Dipper so much because I love my history and it’s the 9th oldest coaster in the world!!! Is Leap the Dips in the USA on your bucket list? because it definitely is on mine!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your suggestion
Yes! Now this is History!
Love Blackpool pleasure beach and Thorpe park those 2 are my favourite theme parks in the UK can't wait to go back to these theme parks again to have a thrilling time of my life
Icon is the best ride there .. I’ve been on it 15 times and I’m obsessed
Shame that Infusion couldn't challenge nemesis. Not that I'm complaining though, Nemesis is my favourite coaster in the UK, and I don't want that to change, such a brilliant ride. 👍
My list is a slightly odd one, it goes like this:
1.) Icon
2.) Big One
3.) Infusion (probably the most controversial take on this list)
4.) Revolution
5.) Nick Streak
6.) Avalanche
7.) Big Dipper
8.) Grand National
9.) Blue Flyer
10.) Steeplechase
Nice list
You should do some theme park histories it’s just a suggestion
Check out our remembering series for something similar!
I couldn't agree more about Icon and Infusion. I went to a Blackpool Pleasure Beach for the first time recently and absolutely hated Infusion and absolutely loved Icon. Icon is one of the best rollercoasters in the country, in my opinion.
Shaun is a national treasure and deserves so much more fame
Thank you for your kind words
Big One has got to be number one. The true icon of the park. But it wouldnt be top of the list if a certain rodent was still flying round the tracks!
Lmao.... I sometimes wish that I'd had the chance to experience that certain rodent...
We miss Wild Mouse so much!
1 icon: Love how cool The intensity is
2: Revolution I agree that when it goes upside down both ways it cool but colour lost it touch
3 Big one: again bravo Record breaker it dives cool Good views lovely however can be bit unreliable
4 infusion This rollercoaster going over water makes this stand out for me
5 Big dipper Soo Realistic like sometimes on it thought I hit my head so I ducked
1. Icon
2. Big one
3. The grand National
4. Nicolodion streak
5. Avalanche
6. Steeple chase
Where would Wild Mouse have been on this list Shawn? When i rode it i thought I was gonna die i swear it came off the track at one point 😂😂
I loved it, favourite woodie at the park!
Firstly I'd like to say i'm really enjoying your output of late Shawn. I would place Nick Streak higher than the Grand National. I used to love the National back in the day but in recent years it's become uncomfortably rough whereas the Streak is still kind of smooth for an old woodie IMO.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
My ranking would go
#10 Steeplchase - hurts my backside
#9 Grand National - shatters my rib cage
#8 Infusion - batters my head
#7 Blue Flyer - not bad for a kiddie coaster
#6 Avalanche - vibrates every bone in my body (does add to the intensity though)
#5 Nickelodeon Streak - mild air time, a lil rough though
#4 Big Dipper - Nickelodeon Streak but better (runs well for its age)
#3 Big One - awesome experience, but lacks thrills and can be rough
#2 Revolution - I agree it’s really fun, it’s not very long but it is very intense
#1 Icon - most airtime on any coaster in the UK (in my opinion)
OMG IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO
Thanks for watching!
I agree with your list shawn for all the same reasons but revolution was the shock! Id put the big one as no 2. As for infusion it needs the new restraints to make me want to ride it again! It makes jubilee at fantasy island feel smooth!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
My list is:
1. Icon
2. Big One
3. Grand National
4. Big Dipper
5. Avalanche
6. Infusion
7. Steeplechase
8. Revolution
I haven't been on the two other family coasters.
Great one Shaun. Me and Al are finally getting back up there in June . It’s 3 years since we were there last and long overdue 🎢🙌🏽🧱👍🏽
Have a fantastic time!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide 🎢🙌🏽👌🏼

My top ten:
1. Icon (Simply the best)
2. The Big One (Iconic)
3, Grand National (It is rough but still love the airtime and speed of it)
4. Revolution (Short but sweet)
5. Big Dipper (Classic)
6. Avalanche (Bit short but unique)
7. Nickelodeon Streak (Looks nice and comfy seats)
8. Steeplechase (Solid)
9. Infusion (Head bashing ruins it although looks great off ride)
10. Blue Flyer (Only one I haven't ridden)
I get where your coming from with infusion I did it as one of my first rides of the day once smacked my head that many times I was sick and couldn’t do anything after but over the past 2 years the rides have been good and I haven’t actually banged my head that much
I would have loved to know where wild mouse would have been in the list
Definitely the best woodie!
Icon may be my favourite coaster, but Wallace And Gromit is my favourite ride in the park. Can’t wait to get back though.
great video👍‼️‼️
SF Great Adventure had a roller coaster called Lightning Loops and it was the same as Revolution. They had two of them and they intertwined with each other. So if you were looking at it from above it would look like a big X and in the middle of the X would be the two loops if that makes sense. They rarely ran both trains at the same time though. I remember one time there was no one on it at night and my friend and I must have marathoned it like 15 times, was so fun.
Thanks for sharing!
My list:
10 blue flyer
9:big one
8;icon
7:infusion
6:big dipper
5:steeplechase
4:avalanche
3 nickelodeon streak
2:i forgot number 2 lol
1;Grand national
In my opinion grand national is a fun roller coaster and its my all tiem favourite roller coaster
Would be awesome if they replaced infusion with a raptor, I’d imagine one would fit that footprint
Now that would be epic!
Yes to this!
My top 3 is Big 1, Infusion and icon in 1st. I don't think vekoma slcs are too bad. Watching this while I'm doing home schooling, you are really getting me through by making your vids.
I haven't ridden Big One or Grand National for a long time as they were closed when Iast visited.
7. Steeplechase
6. Nickelodeon Streak
5. Big Dipper
4. Avalanche
3. Revolution
2. Icon
1. Infusion (so smooth, fantastic drop, basically a water themed Nemesis, I don't get the hate)
Isn’t revolution very smooth for being 42 years old and being built by arrow dynamics
And could you please rank flamingo land rides next and poltons park
10. Infusion
9. Steeplechase
8. Blue Flyer
7.Big Dipper (haven’t rode in 3 years)
6. Nickelodeon streak
5. Avalanche
4. Big one
3. Revolution
2. Grand National
1. Icon
The headache I had after riding infusion a few times in the one day was horrific
Did you ever ride the Thunder looper at AT ? Revolution reminds me of it.
I didn’t unfortunately
I remember going on the Big Dipper, thinking it was fusion, as I got the signs mixed up
Going to Blackpool in July thanks for the list of coasters helps Alot
Have a great time!
Once Inversion is open I'd love to see you rank the coasters at Flamingo Land!
I believe Hero is gonna be dead last and even lower than Go Gator
@@astheniceel13
Might not even make the list!
i really love infusion. it gives me so much adrenaline 😂. Nice list btw i agree on nearly all of them
10- Infusion
9- blue flyer
8- Avalanche
7- steeplechase
6- nick streak
5- Big Dipper
4- grand national
3- the big one
2- revolution
1- the ghost train
Honestly the new rides bring shock which is a good thing, obviously they will be smoother and less likely to slam you into the sides. But I have to say the other rides that do sometimes slam you into the sides are probably the best at Blackpool mainly because of the memories and the fun too be honest but I completely agree with your choices, I’m going soon on Friday the 11th for my birthday
Sadly, my favorite coaster at Pleasure Beach got removed a couple of years ago, that crazy wooden Wild Mouse.
We miss it so much!
I’ve never understood the infusion hate 🤷🏼♂️ I loved it as a kid and I assumed it was because I was small, now 6ft 2 and still love it! 👍
