- This is a MUST HAVE upgrade if you own a Yamaha R6. Shout out to GPR for sending me this one to install for you guys! This is a quality product and looks awesome on the bike! The R6's don't come with a stabilizer and if you want to have some piece of mind I highly recommend this stabilizer by GPR.

Appreciate your time and effort for your vids! Hope to see more R6 content!!
Thanks!
imagine clicking on a motorcycle video and the video starts in the gym???
Haha! Gotta keep ‘em guessing! 😂
Solid upload, been debating on getting 1 for my R6. Had a really bad tank slapper right after I got my bike, I feel super sketch hitting bumps on the interstate ever sense. Maybe this will convince me to finally get 1, ty
Thankfully I have not had any on my R6 but it’s definitely worth it to have. Just looking at other videos freaks me out! You won’t regret it!
100% my next upgrade. Thnx for the vid
Had one on Saturday at 100+ while changing lanes on the HWY. Hit a bump. Thankfully I was able to throttle out, but it scared the shiet out of me. I'm 100% getting one.
😮 Man glad all is good!
Thank you for posting my friend!!
I would love to see a controlled experiment - (before/after) - where a bike gets a tanks slapper on a particular road, then you install the stablilizer, and go over the same road - to demonstrate the actual difference it made.
Yeah not that easy lol. Also not trying that on my bike a wreck. 😂
Stabilizer saved my dumb ass once when I was doing over 130 on the freeway and run over a huge piece of debri, I experienced the taste of death that night 😂😂
😮 Not fun I’m sure! 😄
@@itsmeericb no it was not, it could have ended very badly,
Great upload man. Definitely putting one on my 6. I don’t know, maybe it’s the lightweight of the 6 but it’s bad for tank slappers when you’re really getting on it.
Solid tutorial men 👌
After 3 separate tank wobble, I just ordered a stabilizer. Very very scary. Thanks for the video.
They seem scary indeed. Thanks! Glad I could help!
Wow it took you risking your life 3 times before you got a dampener smh you lucky and stupid. @thanos1952
Awesome thanks!!
To stop a tank slapper move your weight as far forward as you can
True but doesn’t always work
I can’t find the same color you have it’s only blue black red . Where did you bought it ?
I got it directly from GPR
How does that one work? I've only seen the ones that look like miny shocks.
It uses hydraulic valving and fluid inside of the stabilizer itself to absorbs shock through the forks. The higher you set it the stiffer it becomes. Just becomes tough to turn during slow maneuvers like U turns, so you’d want to have it set lower.
Nice upload, can't believe Yamaha still isn't including these from the get go, Honda has had the RESO stabalizer stock since mid 2000s
Not sure if all of the 600’s come stock with a stabilizer or not.
Hey Eric, now that you’ve had it for a year now, could you put a review video out for it or what are your thoughts on it, mine arrives tomorrow.
Man I sold the R6 back in January of 2022. Nothing but positive things on the GPR.
Mine started leaking oil after 1.5 years or about 10k miles. I cannot recommend it really. Get ohlins instead.
If I put a dampener, does that mean I can’t use my quad lock cus of the fork stem already used?
Yes unfortunately you won’t be able to. But I’ve seen some other finding ways to put a clamp on the clip on so they can still have their phone. May have to do a UA-cam or Google search.
What’s the best settings to ride on
Depends on the rider. Try each setting and see what feels more comfortable to you. More stiff and harder to turn or softer and easier to turn.
so my forks aren’t aligned should i get them fixed first before using this or does it not matter ?
Yes I would have that fixed prior to putting the stabilizer on
@@itsmeericb okay thank you
Great video!
Thanks!
if you're using a phone mount like quad lock where'd you put it if you install the stabilizer?
You either can’t use one or you can mount it in a different location such as the handle bar. I’ve seen people do it before. You just have to get a different mount.
can it be used in 2007 too?
Yes 2006-2021
Did you have an issue with it not seating all the way in, mine is in but is not all the way in and flush?
I don’t believe so. Should sit in properly.
So when you put on these stabilizers you can’t put on a phone mount anymore?
Unfortunately
What if you have a factory one ? Did your bike come with a factory damner?
No the R6 does not come with one standard. If your bike already has one, they are usually pretty good from the factory. You can always upgrade though, just not sure how much better it would be over the stock stabilizer.
@@itsmeericb Thanks I have a k4 gsxr it has a damner on it I think it is good?
@@tomguns3925 might want to get it looked at by a reputable place. Because everything breaks down over time. So that stablizer you have is now 18 years old
@@TechAndMotorcycles Thanks I will if I can get a new one I will just replace it .Ride safe.
@@tomguns3925 thats my thing is if cost isnt an issue just replace because that dampener was great tech in 2004. But how much has tech improved since then lol
But which is the right number? Like 4, 5?
Depends. I’d say about 4 or so. Not too stiff for the street but also not so soft to where it’s not doing much.
What are the differences in the gpr and a piston stabilizer like the ohlins one?
In my opinion just the design really. And how they are mounted. Not to mention price. Ohlins can be up to $200 more than the GPR. Also The GPR is easier to adjust and supposedly offers more dampening.
Where can I buy just the bracket
You can check on GPR’s website
I have this same set up on my bike. So when I went to change my engine filter, during reinstalling the GPR unit, I think I stripped one of the screws. When I try to tighten the screw, there’s some resistance and if I keep turning, it slips. Do I have to purchase a new frame you think?
Oh man… the screw that goes into the tank and frame at the top?
No, drill it out bigger. And put a threaded plug into it, and use a bolt to match the new threads
What setting is it on when u ride
I sold the R6 over 2 years ago so I honestly don’t remember but it was somewhere between 4 and 6 possibly.
What number do you leave it set
I can’t remember but I think I left mine on 4. It really depends on what you are comfortable with. Some like a more loose feeling while others like a more stiff feel. Just normal street riding you shouldn’t need it to be super tight.
i thought you're david goggins
😂😂 I get that all the time
You forgot to install the pinch bolt that goes on the frame mount.
Where can i put my phone if i get that other than my pocket?
Nowhere! Lol I have seen some other people rig up some sort clamp on the clip on the place their phone.
You can buy the mount To mount it to your brake lever. With the double ram socket . And the quadlock piece. I have a pic if you need it.
David goggins ? G
I get that all the time 😂
No tank slappers on the gsxr’s :)
I should really get one of these. Why is everything so damn expensive lol.
I feel ya on that! 😂
500$ when you could just lean forward
Not the same my guy
Only Japanese bike will do these things in 2023
