    Sir, Congratulations on being successful in your life and not going down the wrong road. You should be extremely proud of yourself! I served in USN as enlisted dental technician. Loved it! Wanted to stay 30 years but was only able to make it 5 1/2 years due to a disabling illness. Have so much pride for our country and our military! Praise God! Also live in SC.

    Capt Pringle you must / should be very proud of yourself, your colleagues, your crew, your ship and the USN. You play such a huge part in defending the Free World even when not thinking of it. Coming from a retired member of the Canadian Army 🇨🇦that sadly has to acknowledge over the last few decades my country is sorely lacking. Stay strong.

    I miss the Navy and navigating God's great Oceans. Thirty years ago I could have gone back into the Navy as a Lieutenant, but all the Navy had for me at the time was as a commission as a Weapon Systems Officer on board a Destroyer. I wish now I would have taken it.

    Was a Marine.. Was onboard the USS Ogden that took us from Vietnam to Okinawa, around March or April of 1967,,,, Made a amphibious landing off of the USS Paul Revere, 15Mar66.... I don't think I could have been a sailor on a ship, but certainly respect those that sail the seas...

      Must be an LDO. He is wearing both so it must be okay. Some officer of senior NCO wouild have tightened him up before now if it were not I would think. Or maybe the Navy has just gotten lax.

    what is the percentage of white vs black ship commanders in the navy, is it equal opportunity?

    • @logansorenssen
      @logansorenssen 5 років тому

      It is in theory. In practice, I think they do well but not perfectly in that regard. That said, for my first 10 years in the Navy, at least one person in my chain of command was black, and usually more than one (and it wasn't just LPOs and LCPOs, but officers as well, up to and including the squadron commodore). Overall, IIRC, about 22% of enlisted and 18% of officers are black, which is greater than the population percentage for the USA at large. (I'd have to double-check those figures - they're recollections from probably 10 years ago.)
      I'm not sure about COs and CO-grade officers specifically (O-5 and O-6), though. There definitely are a fair number, but I can't remember if the percentage still tracks that for officers in general or not.

Im trying to get an NROTC scholarship. i still have two more years though. For more information you can go to Navy's website and look at education opportunities.
