    Hi JB, another really good review. Watching your videos encouraged me to take up rucking as a way to supplement my gym workouts. Bought the 25l 4.0 and it was comfortable out of the box and the high viz lining and side carry handles make this thing great for edc as well as rucking. I added an A19 organizer on the inside loop field ( pocket flap tucked in ) and a Goruck wire dop Kit give me all the organization needed.

    I think there should be velcro INSIDE the plate pockets as well. That way, when one pocket or the other is not being used, the pockets velcro tight to themselves. So if you have weight in the back pocket, the front pocket velcros shut to itself to make everything tighter with no unnecessary play.

    Excellent video. I didn’t know they had an even newer version with the Rucker 4.0, 2nd edition. Yeah, I have the 25L mostly to have those two plate pockets. We’re the same height, so the newer 4.0 20L with two pockets would probably be a better fit.

    what exactly would be the maximum weight I could get in there with plates? How much more would be possible in addition? Of course not for super long distances but short intensive ones.

      I am not aware of a bag limit...but I've heard of people filling sand bags with lead shot and really going heavy. Biggest plate carry is the 45lb + 30lb...so 75lbs of steel then whatever you put in on top of that.

      @@JBOutside1 I really appreciate that, I honestly didn't expect an answer, especially not on the same day just a few hours later.
      I have been traveling with the Ruck Plate Carrier long for almost 2 years. Mostly on 1-2 of my walks with my two dogs. I started with 20LB and then trained with 35 LB for a very long time. I have had my first 45 LB plate since the beginning of the week.
      I can do an hour with it, but now I'm thinking back and forth about the best next step.
      I was hoping to get the 45LB + 35LB into the Rucker 4.0. Especially for short distances and workouts. Seems like I'll need a 30 LB when the time comes to max it out. Of course, the 45LB + 20LB will do for now.
      Maybe I'll get lucky and somehow get the plates I already have underneath.
      I thought about it for a long time but your video showed me convincingly that this part is the right choice for me, thank you for the detailed explanation. Great content THANK YOU!

    If just getting into Rucking, is it worth the 4.0 or wait for an upgrade closer to the 3.0 which more folks seem to like or just get the 4.0 since I don’t know what I’m missing?

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  20 днів тому

      In this case I think the best option is to try and find a 3.0 from someone looking to get rid of one (that can be tough)...so probably best to get a 4.0. I don't expect zippers to come back to the Rucker and that front pocket might be gone forever too. So 4.0 is probably the standard. That said, I have no insight on what a 5.0 would look like or if a change is even planned.

    • @GordonA-Jr
      @GordonA-Jr 20 днів тому

      @ 🤔 thanks, started looking for a 3.0 but as you know that’s tough, if you have a thought of where to look let me know, otherwise I guess 4.0 it is, been using a sand bag and a backpack so I’m looking forward to a dedicated pack with a place for the weights 👊🏻

    Which plates do you recommend for the gr1 21l the standard or the long plates? Also is it worth getting the shaddox pouch for the gr1? Thanks.

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  8 місяців тому +1

      For plates it depends on what you’re doing and whether you plan to one day get a Rucker. If you think you’ll get a Rucker eventually then get the standard plate. Taller plates fit better in the laptop compartment of the GR1 and won’t move up/down as much. But that’s also not a big deal for just rucking. It IS a big deal if you’re doing “bear crawls” or the plank movements either the GR1. If just rucking it doesn’t matter

      @@averageglockenjoyerNah. Not going to get over it and your comment is a false equivalence. There aren’t US made alternatives in the phone market. There are tons of US made alternative in this space. Jason spent years using “Made in the USA and always will be” as marketing. He went to Vietnam for cheap labor, to increase profit margins. That’s his prerogative. It’s just one of many low integrity moves, after spending years of emphasizing what made GR different in his State of GORUCK posts, interviews, and in person. If there is an option for US made product I will always buy that option. Yes, I’m aware they have GR products made in the travel line. They do not in the rucking/workout line.

    GR1 21L with original back.

    As short person, love the 18” length and enough room to stuff. So few bags fit me. The Gorucks have been blessing.
