I love how as soon as Shack finds the advanced alien ring capable of creating wormholes, he immediatley flies into the center and starts doing dohnuts...
Hey Shack, you should really return to Executive Assault 2 that you covered a few years ago! It's gotten so many new features, ground battles, factions, exploration, new random events, infestations...the works! A hard working and active dev should be treasured, and the game is a wonderful scifi treat! FPS, RTS, 4X, everything done spectacularly!
Massive Star Trek vibes with this. But, it leaves me wanting. Whey can't we have something like this in 3D with modern graphics. That's a full on RPG, with ship/crew management and planet/station excursions. Doesn't need to be in Trek Universe either. Come to think of it, I'm describing Mass Effect but I want something that has the ship combat/management as well.
@TheXPGamers have you tried Cosmoteer yet ? it's this game, but more customization of the ship...and it has missiles, cannons, lasers etc. I think you'd like it.
For some reason it make me think of a 2d version of Avorion, The big universe map, you can use gates to go from system to system or fly there (in Avorion you need to jump from space to space), the openness of building the ship if you have the ressource. I think it might become a great open sandbox-type game when they add a little more content
I love playing the original game. Working up to building a fast juggernought makes me want to go through it again. I really hope this game provides what our wishes are. I would like to see about creating a fleet of multipurpose ships like a carrier taskforce OR put all resources into one uber ship like a battlestar or deathstar like ship. Spec into command points to have multiple ships with their own crews - basically becoming a captain, commodore, and admiral; create battle plans and coordinate groups across different systems while also coordinating strike fighters accordingly. Or you could go full Moff Tarken and lone wolf the whole campaign. I appreciate there is a RPG element to this. I really hope fan feedback is heard. Oh, by the way Shack in the first game surveying stars gave massive research points.
10:07 We're going super slow he says while travelling at a max speed of 12.6 AU/s :P that's many multiples the speed of light! 1 AU is the average distance between Earth and the sun and light takes about 8 minutes for that distance.
this reminds me of Star Sonata 2, very similar but not quite, i hope Starcom won't be as exploitable (if they implement pvp), i'm definitely looking forward to this though
@@WojDestroyer Eh, i tend to do at least one vanilla playthrough to get a feel for what the base game is like, but with Starsector i downloaded the autosave mod before i even started. Not gonna waste several hours because i once again forgot to save.
@@Llortnerof I am a gamer for about 20 years and I used to do vanilla playthrough but with years I grow tired to play game without mods about 4-5 years ago since mods adds longjevity to games and even more content + QOL stuff, there are games which I try to play vanilla but I am tend to just know a game and then go download mods 😂
It's similar but with different focus. Starsector is more of a simulation of the sector and combat with a fairly light storyline, Starcom is far more focused on the questing and exploration (you have to actually find star systems, for one). So each has both less and more depth than the other in different areas.
It's a bit similar, but with more focus on the exploration part and less on combat. The first game had no colony building at all, no clue about this one. You also only have one ship, not a fleet.
is this paid review ? the game looks beautiful but the space combat part looks so space war-ish and boring. with all the stats and modular ship stuff at least they should have FTL-like combat
Remember when all of Shack’s ships were the Constitution? Pepper ridge Farms remembers. But the Liberation is a good ship to use.
I remember when they were all the Endurance.
@@jaffarebellion292 you took the words out of my mouth

wait that was 30 minutes already? NOOOOO i need more
Can't wait for this to be done. I loved Starcom: Nexus
One of the crew is called Pirx.
Very based, very based indeed.
Idea alert : build tiered mini sat defense pods you can drop anywhere, uses recourses to build them. research diff types.
I don't think I can even count just how many games the 'What is...' series has made me buy. Keep it up, Captain. I thank you but my wallet curses you.
The fixed guns are fun and the lastest build added shields. (among other things) Next build is the early access release so 26 days to go.

Reminds me of my time playing Starpoint Gemini 2
Awesome, this looks really cool, probably will pick it up in the future, thanks shack!
Played Starcom Nexus a while ago, ....that ship is going to get a lot larger.

Shack love to see you so a series on this
The liberation and captain Shack exploring a whole new frontier
There was also a flash game a long time ago set in the same universe
I could make a Star Destroyer...........I'm going bring order to this unknown sector.
we want to be able to chose adventures on deployment startrek style like you said. that would be cool
I bet you could make a wicked star destroyer in this!

All relative to the size of the world space and the travel time to get somewhere from a gameplay perspective.
Gowron would approve of this game. You can bring much honor to your house!
So is this like EV Nova/Endless Sky?
seems so, the first thinig I thought of was endless sky.

Finaly a Space Rangers remake !
I want more games play of this
Hallowed Are the Ori.
I still prefer starsector
Blessings of ludd upon you
Love this!! Can't wait for more :)
You should try starsector
1 min in and already want to buy it
The Farscape reference, how many will get it tho? lol
So what happened to "The Endurance"?
You should play starsector my man
oh yes, WITH MODS ofc :D

Yttrium is a real thing.
cool
escape velocity anyone
It's like FTL but better
you should play starcom nexus before
Huh. Doesn't look all that much different from the first game of the series. Outside of some general improvements.
A top-down perspective does NOT make a game 2D....
True.

this is copy of Star Citizen
I didn't know 'copy' meant "something completely different".
