I'm going to play devil's advocate even tho I have shifted away from that mentality to some degree. IF someone truly doesn't enjoy something(a tv series, a video game, a movie) then it is probably best to just eliminate that thing from your viewing habit and shift to something that you actually do enjoy. It makes for a more productive use of your time. I also feel like part of the reason some people don't stop watching is because its easier to react to negative stuff than positive. And its more entertaining.
Now the reason I have shifted away from that standpoint of telling ppl to stop watching is because A) its pointless B) honest criticism doesnt mean someone hates something and C) I realize that for a lot of people wrestling is woven into their life to where its hard to drop completely. Similar to sports fan watching a bad team for years. So no matter what, they'll watch if for no other reason than habit. Now for me, at 42 (low key old head lol) . I just don't waste my time with stuff I don't think I'll enjoy like that anymore. I'd rather throw on 2K or College Football 25 on the series x. Or watch a flick w the Mrs. Or go out and do something. I barely watch the weekly wrestling tv shows from wwe or aew in full. I basically pick and choose the parts I want to see since we live in an on demand world. 30 yrs ago I would have had to record shit on the vcr or watch live. Now everything is clipped up or available on the high seas. So you can literally only see what you want to see. Lol.
Tony Khan isn't interested in putting on a wrestling show that is for everyone. He's interested in putting on a wrestling show that he likes and he hopes that you like what he likes. If you don't, you're sol. Making money for a great product isn't the goal. The goal is fulfilling his mark match dreams with all the boring wrestlers that he likes.
Wrestling is for wrestling fans....his problem ( like wwe ) os pandering to woke !!!. Look at the crowds in the golden era and attitutde era...those are the ppl that fuelled wrestling .....now i just see a lot rainbow coloured hair in the crowd
I dont know ,the average age of wrestling fans is roughly 45 apparently. Its mostly millenials and early 1990s babies still watching wrestling basically
Maybe. But if you have to compare AEW company to TNA, how well can they really be doing? They'll continue to exist, but they have no stars, no audiences, and no viewers at home.
@@jordanthompson8268 true but the statement was made that AEW wasn't going to make it period. Even though it's a shell of its elf and it has been cancelled multiple times TNA is still here
The Big Boom AJ/QT Marshall match was NOT good. It was barely passable for a match. But we need to ask ourselves, what is a pay per view supposed to be? It's supposed to be a showcase of the top talent on the roster working amazing matches supported by compelling storylines. It is NOT supposed to be a lower card wrestler against a fool who screams about the "boom" but otherwise has nothing useful to offer. If they want me to pay $50, they'd better have something more to offer than that.
Saying that the reason why WWE is hot right now is because of AEW simply isnt true. Ppl forget that AEW started in 2019, which was one of the worst creative years ever for WWE. That was followed by 2020 where they released over 100 wrestlers due to the pandemic, so AEW wasnt forcing WWE to change a thing about their mindset. The reason why it changed was Vince was outed and HHH took over. He and he alone is the reason WWE is hot. That would have happened whether AEW was around or not. The only difference is that if there were no AEW, WWE probably would have been even hotter since the ppl who left for AEW under Vince would have still been there when H took over.
Literally a lot of folks reasoning at the beginning of AEWs inception was because at least it wasn’t WWE with Vince literally losing his mind by the literal days he stayed around in creative. Triple H literally saw Rhea getting beat by Zelina in 20 seconds, wrestlers with no creative direction, I am willing to bet a lot of wrestlers wouldn’t have jumped to AEW if Triple H was in charge before then. Plus it doesn’t help that Tony doesn’t see he needs help with the creative department. There’s a reason Triple H has Shawn, Road Dogg, D-Von, Tensai, Jamie Noble, Jason Jordan, Bobby Roode all backstage in creative, when you’re running episodic television shows, you need several minds to run ideas off of. Especially when your biggest objective is to put as many eyes on your product as possible. That’s probably why CM Punk said that Tony isn’t in the business of making money with a wrestling promotion.
AEW had a really good opportunity, but sadly they dropped the ball. Tony really had something if he was just willing to take a step back from it. Just a step.. he can stay heavily involved.. just get a booker! I mean we could improve stuff in a lot of other ways, but TK STILL writing the overall story but simply hiring someone to book it and make it cool would make a world of difference. I've been saying that for years though and it's obviously not going to change.
I was a big AEW fan for a couple of years but the product has gotten so bad lately….it’s not gonna survive unless someone else starts booking and they hire some writers and production people instead of collecting wrestlers like they’re Pokémon. And then throwing them in squash matches 😂😫especially the big men
There is a way to bridge the gap between the demands by an audience to be rewarded for long term viewing with long form storytelling, while allowing the talent to pursue the matches by consensus. A league presentation IMHO is the solution. But if I can think of a solution, I’m certain others have as well.
Those with the attitude you don’t like it don’t watch it, they don’t realize that if their beloved AEW doesn’t do tv ratings it will go under. I think pretty soon too cause I think Daddy Khan going to take the keys away from you Tony if he continues to lose his father money. AEW has been mismanaged for years, the fans that came at 2019 cause it was an alternative to wwe are gone. Heck most of them went back to wwe cause they stepped up their game. They started overspending on past wwe guys and now they’re wwe but without storylines to draw fans in.
I'm not watching a wrestling promotion where I believe I can kick the shit out of at least half the roster, if not more. Sorry bud your fans shouldn't think they can be a part of the action, it's fucking pro wrestling
"If AEW never existed, WWE wouldn’t be at its peak right now." - You’re absolutely right, man. That, and Vince leaving the company. It’s a shame AEW is struggling-I genuinely want them to succeed. They need to assemble a strong creative team to turn things around because their storylines are borderline nonsense. The only thing keeping them afloat is their big names and talent, but even that’s being used poorly.
AEW will never die as long as Tony Khan wants to keep it alive. Tony, or really Tony's dad, isn't running out of money within 10 years or 100 years. AEW may keep hemorrhaging viewers, but they'll survive on funding alone as long as Tony wants.
@@Hunkzilla I'm sure he does. I know I would. I'd like to think I could do a better job, but maybe I couldn't. I can confidently say that I would have delegated booking to someone with more experience a LONG time ago though.
Actually he jabed Swerve with a pair of scissors so for him it might already be getting better. However I agree everything before that I was like why. Technically the elite storyline wasn't good either.
I think he did bring that up, but it was in a backstage segment that didn't make it on air. I feel that when he returned, he should have said something.
They stopped the elite angle because the elite were not good heels. Everyone literally complained that it wasn't working. They are better as baby faces than heels. Maybe we will see Death Riders v Elite when they return
Yes, you are creating the alternative but damn if you want people to want to watch the product you have to innovate. This is not innovating he is just doing this because he likes being the booker of his own real life toy collection.
I have finally been able to see AEW through Max. And I have tried and man it’s boring. Seen some of the old and the same. Some match’s have been okay. Saw the Rhodes wrestle each other. Nice match. Will still try to see what happens.

I keep AEW on as background noise lately. Unless the matches improve and better pay offs are done then this show is dead. Its no wonder people run to WWE NJWP or TNA
AEW's "Dynamite" and "Collision" aren't that terrible, really. The Elitists are great actors, and the actual wrestling is as good as you could hope for. But there are a few problems that threaten to overshadow everything. The biggest problem is that, with the exception of the squash matches (which I consider a waste of time), almost every match is too long - pay-per-view too long, even, with matches going as long as 10 minutes or more, and in extreme cases 20 minutes. A TV match shouldn't be so long that we have to take a commercial break and - picture-in-picture notwithstanding - miss a large chunk of it. It's possible to have a match that lasts only five minutes and still makes both "competitors" look strong. Worse yet, AEW has over 130 singles wrestlers and tag teams on its roster, but because of all the long matches we almost never see quite a few of them or they're forced to portray jobbers. This is insulting to them and boring to the audience. Some people are lucky if they get on TV once each year! And storylines either take forever to resolve or they're scrapped completely. Another, and less serious but still annoying, problem is that AEW too often makes me feel that I'm watching a real sport. Everything is too planned in advance. We're told about every match before it happens, so if you don't like the matches you easily get bored. As disappointed as I got with WWE, they at least keep us in suspense (or, perhaps, kept, since I'm no longer watching) by having a general manager character who can instill drama by making matches on the fly and checkmating the heels (or the faces, if he/she is a heel themselves). Christopher Daniels is supposed to be this person, but we see him only occasionally. Finally, the heel factions, which should be the meat and potatoes for viewers, are being wasted. The Young Bucks have disappeared, and I'm not even sure if they're heels anymore. Equally bad is the way the Undisputed Kingdom is being handled, since Adam Cole hardly got to lead it before turning face, and, to make matters worse, AEW has now missed at least two opportunities to have Strong and Wardlow and the Kingdom proper betray Cole and join forces with MJF, which would redeem a ruined storyline. At least the Don Callis Family are now being used well after a long period of being left in limbo. And finally, are the Death Riders an auxiliary of the Elite or aren't they? Hints have been dropped that they are, and if all of them officially joined forces it would make for an excellent storyline. But AEW just keeps us waiting on that.
When WWE was actually at their peak it was with Vince. All the best eras of WWE are under Vince. WWE is not peaking right now with the current head of creative. Part of the reason why they going to Netflix is because the TV ratings keep dropping. Also the shows creatively are slow, repetitive and predictable. Be Fr.
