Super fun video !!! Im a adult late beginner tapper. Their are no classes near me so im learning via youtube !!! Thanks for the fun video, I look forward to more videos !!!
This is late but for whoever is confused about the music this is what worked for me: Start when the words start. "Papa loves mambo" is the first shuffle hop step (1, 2, 3, 4). The second is the short music bit and then the ball change stomp is "Mama loves mambo" (This next bit is, I think, a slightly easier interpretation) Stop for 2 counts and start the ball heel before the next words start. "Getting" is the chug Then do the heel step moves and jump out on "wow" and come together on "oo" Hope this helps :)
Hey Kelli Dance, a new tap student at 62, former New Yorker from Queens, Thank you for shinning bright for every age group and keeping it real. Looking forward to seeing what other cool tap dance moves you got goin on. Brad
Intelligence. Much appreciated about the not going beyond the support leg. I'm starting tap in my eighth decade. Avoiding alignment problems is pretty important. Plus, you don't dumb it down, all the while giving the script so the right brain is as happy as the left. Brilliant. You're fun too. Keep it up.
Decided to start tapping again...last time I was 7 years old. Love the noise it makes and love the fun I'm having. You have a wonderful teaching style. Tap tap..CJKnapp
I bought a pair of cheap tap shoes off of amazon sometime last year, with the Corona Virus and being stuck at home I finally have time to learn how to really use them. Thank you!!!
Probably the most helpful/awesome/well put together video ever! You’re an awesome communicator. Perfect mix of talk, explanation, repetition, and action. Loveeeeeee it! 🤙🏼😍 from New Zealand 🇳🇿
I’m so glad I found you! At 55 I’m finally learning tap, did ballet, Fosse Jazz, some hip hop, musical theater. I have a tap routine request to The Beatles “When I’m 64”. I can imagine sort of a simple, slow, soft shoe? I have older and younger cousins who learned tap and I’d love for us to perform it at our next family reunion (hopefully soon...).
I don’t know if you’re gonna see this or not but I just started tap today and I was SUPER nervous and watching your video over and over again made me feel like I wasn’t going in there with nothing. So thank you so much for your help.
I love it! At 39 I just decided to take up tap but ended up with a teacher that thinks she's dealing with a pro. 🤦 Anyway I love this video and the way you teach. Thank you so much I will be looking for more of your videos 😉
Wow! Thank you Miss Kelli, great video. I'm learning this now so I can perform it tomorrow night at our dance. You simplified it all perfectly. Is your studio located in NYC? If so, I'm not far and would love to take one of your classes.
I just found this video and I really enjoy this. I'm an adult beginner and don't have any classes near me. Are you planning on making more beginner combo videos? There aren't many online as far I can tell. And I would love to improve even more.
I am a senior adult male learning some great dance moves. I really like this video and would like you to do something like this in jazz or blues or both.
Hi Kelly. Thanks for this wonderful video. I think it'd be very useful a metronome beat reference just to know the right tempo for beginers or rookies or perhaps a musical track in order to step the correct beat. What is the right speed for stepping paradiddles ? Kind regards. Andy. Caracas - Venezuela. July 13 2018
Francisca Lerma ¡Mucho pides! XD Hay muy poco contenido en español, así que no nos queda más remedio que aprender también inglés :-/ Por si te sirve de algo, puedes activar los subtítulos aunque estén en inglés.
Love your teaching videos, for me-- it's better ifyou just face away the whole time. It's confusing going back and forth. Thanks for your time and Care. Great video.
Thanks! a little constructive critisism - remember what you said - you are better at tapping than talking - what we like is keeping the clips full of action - show don't tell kinda thing. Then we are actually doing the stuff and it's fun instead of a zillion introductions. see others how they do it, I myself get quite bored with waiting and just wanted to practice more in order to get the hang of it, and advane quicker. Thank you!
