Wow, I've never seen Wild Ambition running on the original hardware. Just the PlayStation. I had no idea that it had background animations. That makes a big difference for presentation. It would be great if SNK released all of their 64bit games in a collection so everyone can enjoy them.
I previously streamed the game before, running fomr th eHyper Neo Geo 64. I am also uploading playthrough of the games running on the board. I already uploaded Terry's, and will upload Kim's tomorrow.
I played Wild Ambition in its HNG64 version, who I own, and a lot more the PS1 version, at the point to study the mechanics and movelists of the game. I want to add some extra context and clarifications, ok? 1) The Heat Gauge do not is responsable for just the Overdrive Power moves and Heat Blow attacks. It also responsable to activate the Counter Attack move. To do this, you must press FRONT + AB during guard. As commented before, it requires the use of the Heat Gauge to do it. 2) The game have a Guard Destroyed system, by using a "not visible to the player" guard meter. Defending multiple attacks in succession will result in the guard of the character be broken, in the same style of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Guard Crush system. Even the character's guard meter is not visible, the character will show then their guard is about to break by changing their guard animation to a different one, and it will regenerate itself over time. 3) Guard Impact is NOT a primitive Just Defense system, when you need to defend an attack in the momment it is about to hit you. The Guard Impact have it own command. To do it, you must tap FRONT twice during guard. But by using this move, it will cost part of your not-visible guard meter, making your character changing their guard animation more faster than defending multiple attacks. The move works just like the Advanced Guard from the Capcom VS series (originally, pressing the three punch buttons during guard). Having both Counter Attack and Guard Impact as defensive mechanics who depends of different resources to activate is an awesome thing, because we have options to pick. 4) By the way, your character's taunt will change if your live is yellow or red.
This game should have more love. It's really good and a great example of how a 3d fighting game should be. If KOF MI had followed this route, it would've been a success
Been watching a lot of your videos over the past few weeks. Been on an SNK kick as of late, playing lots of older titles and reading tons of supplemental material. I remember playing Wild Ambition and really enjoying it. It reminded me of Street Fighter EX. Thanks for the amazing content.
Played this a while back thinking it was gonna be a low quality spin-off that I spend maybe an afternoon with. I ended up putting soooo many hours into it over the course of a month or so. A rare fighter where every character felt smooth and legitimate to play. Truly a hidden gem.
Failed? The Hyper NG failed, but the game was very well done, In my area it was very popular among players, in my best day I got 20 wins in VS with a coin with Kim and others with Terry and Geese
Wild Ambition was literally a Wild Ambition despite of it not selling well the game clearly has a lot of passion in it you can see they went out with it.
And also Fatal fury City of the Wolves for event in 2024 with the roster characters, Aof guests and some Kof guests with them. In 2024 7 to 8 characters for this Spring.
Hey Nabil love your channel. Can you kindly feed me regarding to games what saudi prince not bought, the other 4% remaining. Is kof 2002, um apart of it?
Wild Ambition would be more successful as an Arcade & Dreamcast game, with all 32 playable fighters throughout the entire Fatal Fury anthology. Just so the game can rival against 鉄拳TEKKEN Tag Tournament.
I enjoyed this game a lot as a kid, and I love the cinematic intro. But let's be honest, this game had no chance agaisnt true 3D fighters like Tekken 3, DOA2, or SC.
By 1999, the Hyper NeoGeo 64 arcade is too late to the party. Nobody wants to see blocky 3D polygon graphics at that point anymore especially when the impressive showcase of Sega's hardware, the Sega Dreamcast launch a year earlier in Japan and looks and plays 5 times more next-gen than what SNK is offering. I can see why the Hyper NeoGeo 64 failed, if this was early 1994 or mid 1995 then yes the games on it will look impressive and would wow many but this is 1999, everyone at that point was already hook by the Dreamcast and were also awaiting the hype of the PlayStation 2, nobody is looking forward to going back to blocky polygonal 3D graphics anymore.
That 3D Fatal Fury game kinda reminds me of Rival Schools and Final Fight Revenge.
Tsugumi should be integrated into the 2.5D SNK games.
Her on a team with Angel and Hinako could be team lady grapplers 😅
@@itsblackblackblack2719We need a Women's Grappler Team.
I loved this game as kid on the PS1 one of my favorites along rival schools

I wouldn’t get your hopes up. SNK stated awhile back that they don’t have the means of reproducing any Hyper Neo-Geo software.
I previously streamed the game before, running fomr th eHyper Neo Geo 64. I am also uploading playthrough of the games running on the board. I already uploaded Terry's, and will upload Kim's tomorrow.
Great job Nabil. I always look forward to these videos man.
I really like the look of this game, I think it holds up great for the late 90's.

It absolutely is great! i have been playing it a lot lately on the Hyper Neo Geo 64.
Tekken already created the example of how a 3D fighting game should be. Lol

Thank you for he kind words, and i am glad you are enjoying the content!
I wish they wouldve done a Street Fighter EX crossover! 😢 A soft revival of the Snk vs Capcom series
SNK should put that Wrestling Girl, & the Oldman in City of the Wolf.
FF Wild Ambition was actually a much deeper movements and combos than it often gets credit for.
Mr Karate is unlockable in the PSX version.
I enjoyed this game. It's cinematic introduction is great!
I watched that intro thousands of times lol
I love this game I played it on Psone.

Now I understand how Ryo made it in. Same director of Art Of Fighting. Now I know what version of the game that I want to play.
This game, if released today using todays technology, I think would have been a great success.
best game fighter ever
The best thing in this game is…. the 2D backgrounds.
I recently bought the ost and ast from this game. My wallet was affected as it was hit by a galactica phantom.
Wild Ambition was literally a Wild Ambition despite of it not selling well the game clearly has a lot of passion in it you can see they went out with it.
Better Roster and Music than MOTW.
God I'd love to have the 3D models for this game
City of the Wolves should be an Everybody is here Type of Roster for the Fatal Fury Franchise.
And also Fatal fury City of the Wolves for event in 2024 with the roster characters, Aof guests and some Kof guests with them. In 2024 7 to 8 characters for this Spring.
Geese Howard was playable in the arcade version - secret code - do your research.
Ah, the only Fatal Fury game with actual canon Ryo Sakazaki lol
Hey Nabil love your channel. Can you kindly feed me regarding to games what saudi prince not bought, the other 4% remaining. Is kof 2002, um apart of it?
@NeoGeoNow Are you sure Geese Howard's first fall out of the building non-canon?

One of the worst fighting games i ever played, is like ordering a cheese burger, and getting just the bread with no cheese or meat.
SNK was obligated to make this game, 3D fighting games was the favourites of almost all people in that time.
Si estaba chido.
👍🏾💯
Joel Giant wolf
Look like Tekken 3 or tag tournament with graphic.
Boy, do I hate 3D graphics. Old polygons age like milk while old school pixel games still look amazing, even on modern displays.
Not all of them Just look at pit fighter lol
