My school was so worried about lawsuits that we weren't allowed to touch any tools, all shop class was was watching the teacher make our projects.
Makes me wonder what the freaking point is. No wonder customers whine about cutting a piece of quarter round in half or cutting a 2x4 down at home.
our school was the exact opposite, I had a welding class where we basically just threw on a mask and welded random pieces of metal together, burn/electroshock hazards be damned.

I used to have a fun high school woodshop teacher and his name was Mr. Appel. Every morning when I or any of the other students would ask him what we were doing today, his response will always be "The same thing we do every day Pinky, try to take over the world" in the most convincing Brain impression. Out of all the classes I've had his was definitely the most fun.

Must be a wood shop thing our wood shop teacher was a B+ guy. Everyone got a B+ and we had a bob villa chick in our class also. Her dad owned a custom cabinetry shop so she had been working in a wood shop since she could practically walk didn't matter though fucking B+.

I had wood shop in middle school for 2 years. One of my favorite courses. If you are still young, take a class like this (before it is too late)! My high school pulled the plug on all our shop classes. I had my accounting courses in the old woods room and thankfully I was able to still attend the dying automotive shop class. We had cars, lifts, real equipment, the whole nine yards. Guess what they did to the shop when I graduated? It became a fashion studio.

I remember this class, we had our football coach as a teacher, so every once and a while, he’d come in all sweaty and smelled like a pile of bird shit sitting on a hot summer car.
My high school's (senior/varsity) football coach was my pre-calc teacher. We once spent an entire period listening to him talk about the Korean War and another time he gave us a proejct and never said anything about it after assigning it.

Haha this brings back memories. My year 10/11 woodwork class was compiled off all the drop kicks of our year. I remember one day one kid in the class was standing with a piece of wood just on the belt sander for 10 minutes. Me and my mate went up to him and were like what are you doing? And he looked back at us with a smile and said you’ll see. A couple minutes later he went up behind someone who was sitting down on the desk and put the piece of wood on the back of his arm and gave him 3rd degree burns 😂
I Loved Wood Class, Welding, Buildings Engines, We had Lots of cool classes that you could get a good job straight out of High School...
