Not to be an angry jaded lady, but holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas are usually only good because women do all of the planning, cooking, wrapping, and hosting.
@@des5592 from what I’ve seen in this video and my own family it seems like the guys try to help as best they can. Sometimes my nana gets my guy cousins to help her lift things up and Tyler at least doesn’t seem to be lazing around. We all pitch in to get the dishes after. Heck even his wife’s dad tries to help out. Still it’s a lot of work so gotta give props to whoever does take on most of the hosting or prep. One more thing to be thankful for lol

@@des5592 That sounds like an experience very specific to you. My dad always did at least half the Thanksgiving cooking and all the present wrapping. Of course my mom did some cooking and decorating and other important stuff too. The same example goes with my grandparents.
Maybe instead of being an obnoxious feminazi in the comment section you can spend your day after thanksgiving appreciating all the things both men and women do TOGETHER to make these holidays great, even if your personal experience doesn't reflect that.

It's hilarious how seriously your wife takes hosting Thanksgiving. It really is a warzone in the kitchen when the actual day comes. I went to my Uncle's house early enough one yesr to see the preparation process, and he was total drill sergeant about it. Either you're competent enough to help cook, or you get out of the way. Strangely, he'd never pass out drunk on the couch like Rick.

As an Englishman I learned more about Thanksgiving and what the social norms are today from this video than I have anything shown on the History channel.
All you need to know is that Thanksgiving is a holiday that appropriates Native culture in the US. It’s observed by a family gathering varying in size, and usually consists of one half of the family preparing copious amounts of food like there’s no tomorrow while chattering and catching up on family gossip/news. Meanwhile the other half are sitting around the living room growing ever more hungry, the kids run around complaining they’re starving, and there’s usually a football game on a TV somewhere. Some people also watch Thanksgiving parades like the Macy’s one in NY.
When all the food is finally dove cooking, everyone gathers at a table or two (with one usually designated for the kids) and proceed to gorge themselves silly. Then the mountain of dirty dishes is slowly washed in rounds via the dishwasher and pie and coffee are brought out because apparently there wasn’t already enough gluttony happening. Then everyone waddles to their cars with piles of leftovers to go to their homes to fall into the mother of all food comas for the next week.
These events can vary from family to family, and the time of the dinner can also vary. I’m from the Midwest where dinner is usually at noon.

Love it! Always good to see a new video from you. My Thanksgiving was just me and my Dad at the western sizzlin buffet, but still enjoyed it. That is just what happens when your family lives in different states as you get older. I think other than way back when my grandparents were still alive in the 80's my favorite thanksgivings were when I was deployed overseas and had the local people (Bosnia, Kosovo, etc) invited for thanksgiving dinner at our dining facility to eat with us. We did it for all of our holidays and would let them bring their family as well. Thanksgiving should be an international holiday!
