Fun fact: Vocaloid are like barbie dolls. The official age they could have are only the age of the official box art. Many artist portray Miku in many different ways. Sometimes she is a toddler, a kid or teenager and other many times she is an adult woman or a girl of unknown age. Sometimes she is the queen of a kingdom, a salarywoman, a girl of unknown age dissing her boyfriend, a known fashionista. Sometimes she is a zombie, a ghost, a succubus, etc. Sometimes she sound very young, sometimes she has a very deep voice. Miku/vocaloid can be anything. They are there to help voiceless artist to tell stories. Also a common trope in the beginning of the vocaloid fandom was that Miku/Vocaloird were robot dolls waiting for the producer/artist to create a song and design their new outfit and set the age + character they would play. But nowadays, most people who discover Miku, get mad at any explicit song, sung by Miku, and with no suprise, they think that she is either a robot, an hologram, they call the songs "Miku songs" which is a wording that tells a lot, because vocaloid user and people who understand how things works call it "name of the producer song" or "name of the producer ft Vocaloid name". Forgetting that the fandom "made" Miku.
Thank you! People don’t understand this too much, and it’s annoying that I can’t hear Len songs because they’re sexual and they claim that he is “14” when he is really just a vocal synthesizer!
Right! This also doesn't apply just to Miku too, this goes for all the other vocaloids. Some people make Len and Rin as twins, sometimes I see that Len is older than Rin, a lot of fans and stories make them related. I have seen some songs where they're like, in a relationship. There's also a song where Rin and Miku are seeing each other behind their boyfriend's backs. (It's a bop I really like it.) I'm a bit of an older vocaloid fan. I really like when composers make really interesting concepts. (RIP Wowaka) Or like, the dark concepts! That was the era that got me into Vocaloid. All of the horror-esque songs. (Miku, Gumi, Rin, Luka sometimes) MASA's works, Kikuo, I'm glad they're still making songs. That shit was so cool. And the MMDs and how creative they can get. (Mad respects to rigging ) Though this video is about Mr Kondo and his wife Hatsune Miku, and exploring Fictosexuality. I couldn't help but comment because I read in your post that people are getting mad over explicit vocaloid songs. It surprised me. Since such things were on the internet for a very long time. It sounds really absurd to me if ""おかあさん " Gets 'cancelled' nowadays by the non-vocaloid fans. Or the new--to-the-internet babies who want all spaces to be family friendly.
Honestly the part where he said he'd rather be with a fictional character because she would never get sick, or die, hurt a little bit, because it's a very reasonable fear, and seeing someone you love suffer is legitimately one of the worst things that can happen. I don't know, it's a little sad in a way, because in part he does that so he doesn't get more hurt by real people, but at the same time, if he's really happy like that, I would say continue, and I'm glad he found his ideal partner.
the fact that these people were rejected so much by the society to the point that they could only find love in fictional characters just goes to show how hard people can be
@@windraizou considering the conservative nature of Japan. Highly unlikely. Possible, but unlikely. It's more likely what happened to him is what the op said.
@@goatinatrenchcoat it doesn't have to apply to everyone. The ace spectrum includes people who are also demisexual and gray asexual and the like. Fictosexual (which is where I tend to put myself as well) is one part of the whole spectrum.
I actually felt kinda sad for the guy when you mentioned that they had to shut down the service for the device and when you said she was replaced with a network error sign, that hit kinda hard for whatever reason.
Yeah, like, it's wild to think about! Imagine waking up one morning and instead of your beautiful wife in bed beside you (in your beautiful house with its large automobile outside) has turned into an ERROR 404 message. I can confidently say that my response would be; "this is not my beautiful wife!" It won't be the same as it ever was.
Something outsiders often don't understand is how brutally repressive Japanese culture can be. The reason why the "high school" period of life is so romanticized and fascinating in Japanese pop culture, is for a pretty sad reason: the brief window of time between puberty and adulthood is perceived as the only opportunity Japanese people have to gain some degree of independence and responsibility, but also explore their own personality, feelings, and desires. After that window closes it is expected that people will crush their individuality and assimilate into the group. Unless someone is fortunate enough to be able to build a career in a highly idiosyncratic field, such as art or entertainment, they are expected to disappear entirely into whatever group they find themselves in. This puts tremendous pressure on those who suffer any anxiety over interacting with other people, or those who simply feel the need to express a slightly different personality from whatever is expected of them. Shut-in culture is the result of this oppression. Fixation on the colorful world of pop culture fictions and figures is an understandable desire for escape to a reality in which everything isn't so brutally ground to paste. Note that I wouldn't say this person shouldn't do whatever makes him happy. It is just that there is quite a lot of context behind why you see people develop these feelings so often in Japan, compared to most other places.
I know he ain't harming anyone, but marrying a fictional is should not be seen as normal. I do believe in the saying "As long as they're happy", but the people marrying body pillows need therapy, and find happiness in something other than fictional things.
@@Flabby555 I was gonna say exactly what you said. I’m in no doubt that there is people(or a person) out there who can actually live with a fictional relationship, because the human species is a very strange but unique species. However, it is important that people know this isn’t normal and that more than the majority of people can’t function healthily with this kind of life.
Tbh I like seeing his posts on Instagram, it's just wholesome. The man is living his life and is happy. The fact Miku could change someone's life for the better in this way while "odd" for some is sweet.
@@leonakinglion3210 no one really asked but congrats! Hope ever goes well 🎉 (ps: I think it's fine he has a fictional crush it's hurting neither party so I find it okay :3)
When you brought up the part about the possibility of many other people also wanting to have relationships with the same fictional character, it reminded me of a time at a convention when someone started freaking out and screaming at an artist that they couldn't be selling merch of a certain character because it's their waifu and other people can't have her. It was a very odd and disturbing situation for security and the con staff.
oh geez this just unlocked a repressed memory- something about "kins" going on in tumblr and there was a lot of vitriol for people who would "claim to be the same kin". seemed like a pretty obvious problem in hindsight.
This is still weird to me. I think of fictional characters sort of like "communal wives", or a "clone series line". The more people share my love for certain characters the happier I am about it. And if those characters find love in-universe, I'm also happy for them.
This makes me a bit sad. Japanese society forces people to overwork so much that they don't have time to fall in love or create important friendships. So they turn to the next thing that fills that gap of platonic and or romantic relationships which are anime characters.
My first ever figure was Miku, I love her songs quite a bit. I'm happy for this guy to be married to such an amazing fictional character. Hope he keeps that amazing marriage.
Yep, what the person above me said, please keep in mind Miku is just a software and dosen't make any songs. Credit goes to all the amazing producers and artists all around the world who share their stories through their Vocaloid songs.
@@erraticcat3887 Yeah exactly, it always hurts when i see people mentioning songs made with her or re uploading the songs and not giving any credit to the artist at all, or english covers getting millions more views than the original. Really heartbreaking stuff.
6:18 Vocaloids don't have anything canon. Vocaloids can actually be anything you want them to be since the creators let's anyone decide any headcanons of the character's. Mainly the characters are supposed to be a certain age but since the characters are nothing but just voice banks, It's up to the fans. Just a small fact I wanna share. Greate video btw.
It's really only because of their set character designs (which actually is used as a marketing ploy for Vocaloids to be more seen therefore bought-) people would have a problem.. which dumb
Imagine being bullied and pushed to the point where you no longer want to love real people and go to fictional characters instead. Honestly, I don't blame him. We humans are very awful.
Her age changes throughout and depending what song/story you listen to. For instants in one song she could be portrayed as a young kid but in another a high schooler but in a different song she could be portrayed as of full grown adult. I think the misconception is that everyone looks at her wiki and whoever did the info on there made her info age 16 which is why everyone thinks she’s just a teenager all the time
Miku can be anything one makes her out to be tbh. She don't really have that cannon stuff applied to her anymore. The official people behind her even said this themselves in response to people making their own different mikus with different races, ethnicities, etc.
I wanna know what he does for work. His wedding to Miku was really fancy and he had a lot of guests. He has some really impressive collectibles that can’t be cheap. I’m happy for him. He’s not hurting anyone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'd be kinda honoured ngl Cuz it would mean I successfully created something that moved people, like if I ever made something popular enough to have fanfiction/art that would mean the world to me!
@@Xx_Oleander_xX Yeah and then what if the love for her gets even stronger that one day Crypton makes a true to life AI Android with self awareness. Then Miku will pretty much cross into reality, and I really want to be friends with her 💙🌌
An Italian playwrighter named Pirandello often talked about how every human wears an imaginary, unmovable and everlasting mask. You will always play a character when interacting with others, while never showing your true self to anyone. None will ever truly understand your feelings and thoughts more than you. You are cursed to be alone even if you try to connect with someone. I think Akihito is going to be fine.
For how weird it is, this story is a pretty sweet one. The marriage holds strong even through the worst of times and there's hope that it can be on the rise again.
Honestly if he's happy, he's happy so fair play to him and he has at least some self-awareness ig🤷 lowkey reminds me of the rent-a-gf mangaka who's apprently dating his own character.
I'm curious how he feels about what the NSFW community has done with Hatsune Miku. Like does he satisfy himself to that stuff or does it absolutely upset him? Like any artist out there can do anything they want with the character and label it fan art or parody. Does he consider it that as well and what does he consider canon about Hatsune Miku? does he have his own narrative built in his head or does he rely on the creator's canon for his "wife's" back story and such? All I have are more questions! lol
This reminds me of the one dude who sent those huge messages that basically boiled down to "stop drawing PORN of my wife Twilight Sparkle, it makes her upset and she'd never cheat on me"
I'm pretty sure he must have his own narrative, Miku doesn't really have a canon since she's just the mascot of a vocal synthesizer's voice, even her age isn't technically set in stone, I mean, she's 16, but if anyone wanted to portray her as 14, 20 or anything else, they're completely free to do so
as long as hes not hurting actual ppl its fine on what fictional characters he gets with. i kind of sympathise with the man too. its hard to find true love. it sucks knowing ppl irl dont desire you and you will never find someone, so you turn to non-existent things such as drawings to feel less lonely
I've been a Vocaloid fan 5-6 years now and I've been following Mr. Ahiko on and off since he got married to Miku. I remember hearing that he had experienced a lot of work place bullying and Miku really helped him with that. The thing that amazed me the most is the life sized Miku doll, I've never seen/heard of it before! (and I used to be a vocaloid merch fanatic lol) But I'm glad you weren't to harsh on him. Great video
I'm Aego AroAce, so I get this guy completely. I'm not fictosexual but close. I have "romantic" or "sexual" attraction toward fictional characters/people. I simply cannot feel stuff for real human people, and I don't want to! (Before anyone says something, I had a real life boyfriend and it was the worst year of my life. I absolutely despise physical contact, and whenever he came with just kissing or holding hands I got very annoyed. Similar to people who don't get fictosexuality, I simply don't understand why anyone wants to be with a real person.) I do enjoy romance/adult stuff, but only if it doesn't involve "me." Sometimes I envision anime characters but most of the time, they are faceless (mostly) humanoid creatures that get into Romance and "stuff". It's just so much more comfortable for me, to live in my fantasy, than dealing with the stress of sharing my already scarce free time with another person. (I maybe could live with another ace person who isn't into adult stuff, and has similar hobbies than me, but I'm also aro, so I'm not even looking for a relationship.) But hey, as long as it isn't hurting anyone, it's fine in my books. If these people want to marry dolls/pillows/fictional characters, let them. I'm not judging other people if they want to be in a relationship with other real people, and I'm also not judging people who want to marry fictional characters.
Dang, Miku has been 16 for 15 years now... I was 7 or 8 when she came out! My favourite anime character that I was obsessed with back when I was like 12, was Nura Rikuo. And we we're the same age... At least I thought until I looked up when the series came out and realized he would actually be like 3 years older lol. Sometimes I wonder years after the manga ended, "What he up to now? Collage?... World domination!?" I hate how fiction characters don't age, they make me feel old XD
This makes me kind of sad. A wonderful part of relationships, romantic or platonic, is finding someone who can learn or try to understand you, experience the darkest and most beautiful parts of existence and communicate through them. A part of the journey is trial and error and someone who can’t truly celebrate your wins and talk and support you through your loses, seems pretty lonely. This seems like a coping mechanism for mental health problems or crippling anxieties. I will say his feelings seem pretty pure though.
I do think that it is not rare for people in Japan have that kinda of relationship. It is either because they are bullied in their workspace or their lives are in miserable. I know that their coping mechanism is weird but I do think that as long as they are treating fine and not causing harm to anyone. Then it's ok.
Dude actually followed me on twitter. talked to him for a bit. he's a pretty chill well rounded dude. He is into an anime character living his life bothering not a single soul. I say let him do him.
He fully knows that Miku isn't real, it's simply that the idea itself makes him happy. He's found peace and happiness in a non-destructive/violent way and is living his life how he wants to in his own way. I'd be more concern if he was willing to kill people for being a fan of Miku, or trying to control how people portray her like in many other cases, but he isn't. Just vibing in this endless space of possibilities, in a way that makes him satisfied with his life, it could be better in many ways, but he's happy anyways. I think I'd much rather live satisfied with what made me happy, rather than go on miserable thinking about what it could have been.
I am happy he is much happier than in his past, but tbh this really isnt the healthiest thing especially to encourage. It seems that he has a fear of being hurt (probly cheated on and stuff in the past, he mentioned that fear multiple times amidst the others) in past relationships which would contribute to his fears that 'physical' natural relationships involve. Its like an escapism of sorts... I hope he & others alike has a good support system, not just one that supports him but does so in a HEALTHY manner.
aegofictosexual/romantic here as well, really happy to see that people aren't being judgemental in this comment section n acknowledging that if he's happy, he understands himself and his situation and he doesn't bother or infringe upon anybody that's all that matters !
honestly the way things are going with real life relationships, i'm not surprised people are turning to stuff like this. trust, loyalty, commitment etc. are damn near impossible to find nowadays and it's just becoming not worth it. however, in this kind of scenario, you can have a relationship with a character you've always been incredibly fond of and knowing that the only thing that could come between you and them is, if they're part of that Gatebox thing, power/server going down or you yourself die. people can give you wierd looks all they like, it doesn't change you're feelings in any way nor does it affect your life. you do you.
I think it's more important to seriously consider what's wrong with a culture and society and workplace environment that would drive people towards the idea of being with a fictional character, rather than giggling at a man who's not hurting anyone and is just trying to find joy where he can in life. Life is short and the world is shit. If it don't hurt no one and it makes you happy, go for it.
I've only ever heard about the part about GateBox's service ending. It's pretty wholesome to hear that they've actually decided to work on a new iteration of their product. :D
He recently did another interview and was asked about others who may want to be with or marry Hatsune Miku. He said that every single Hatsune Miku is different. When you install the vocaloid program to your computer every single one has a different and unique serial number/code literally making every single Hatsune Miku program different and your own personal Miku your own. So everyone's Miku is different. Its like each Miku having a social security number and identity like people do. So there will never be a Miku like his so there will never be problems with that. Each Miku is up to the person that see's their Miku in their own way. As for the redesigns thing, they can change it all they want that's not going to stop anyone from enjoying and being with their version of Miku or the character they choose. I mean anime characters these days have redesigns and people can always get a hold of the original as its always still sold or is created by fans as art and merch so its literally impossible for the original Miku design to ever go away. Its as he said, she won't die, betray him, cheat on him, leave him alone, or change. I respect the man alot and think he made the right choice picking Miku and being happy with her over a real person. Especially these days where the west is being torn down alot when it comes to dating and marriage. Its definitely a huge risk and not really worth it when you can just be happy with your waifu if you can be happy with that lifestyle.
I was expecting bad things when i clicked on this video, but was pleasantly surprised by the positivity and lack of judgement. I hope he continues having a good life with miku
Same! I don’t blame them for chuckling occasionally, I would’ve done the same if I wasn’t fictosexual and not familiar with it. They definitely handled with as much respect as possible.
I feel kinda bad for him. Mental health treatment is unfortunately bad. Especially in Japan. Him being in isolation can make your mental health worse. It increases anxiety and depression. I think he needs help and try to socialize more. There's nothing wrong having a crush on fictional characters but that can go to an extent. It's very concerning when he said ""I will never have to worry about her being sick or dying.""
Bro I think you dropped this 👑 I've heard this story many times, but I think you're by far one of the only ones who talk about this with compassion and zero judgement!!
Miku has the appearance of an 16 years old, but official she and just like all vocaloids/virtual voices, have no age and personality. Actually they technically have no apparence too. The point is for people to create stories with them and thus forging them like they want. They can sing as normal teenagers, as soldiers on war, as witches and wizard, gods or spirits. They can sing about the past, present, futur, alternate reality/timeline, era. Anything as long as the producer has the imagination for it. Their box art is more of a base appearance that people can just modify at their will. Some simple examples with Miku : - She can be a tsundere girlfriend with curly twirls in World is Mine (Ryo) - She can be a doll with a appearance of a noble lady with long silk like turquoise hair in the Evilious Chronicle series (akunoP) - A white haired ghost in many of PinocchioP songs. - A black haired revengeful spirit or an emotionless futur Miku with shorter hair (Hachi) Those are a few to list and they are just with Miku. It's the same with any voices. They exist because of the fans/community. We all love them and if someone loves Miku to the point of marrying her then their's no real problem. Many people listens to or produce vocaloid originals because of life. If he got to the point in his life where a voice synthesizer gives him more love and happiness than real people, than it's truly those peoples fault.
People keep trying to defend him liking miku and how its not weird. I can see how he ended up that way but as you said "miku has the appearance of a 16 yr old" that in and of itself is why it is weird. I can understand that the marriage makes him happy, but its not an excuse defend the age stuff
@@pogpurin My point still stands. She's a voice, not a real person. That's simply her appearance. If we were to actually give her an age then it would be 15 because that's how many years she's been existing. Otherwise she does not have a "character age".
The reason why I feel that so many people are disturbed by this relationship, is simply because of the fact that society dictates it as such. Society tells you to fall in love, get married, have children, and work till you're at the age of retirement. That's what we're told to do, and that's what is expected of us as we grow older and age. I think it's normal for people to find connection within others, in most cases, we find connection with real people. However, just as people can be our source of comfort in trying times, I'm also of the belief that people are cruel creatures, that have the power to hurt you so bad you don't want to get up. People say, "He needs to get therapy" but the thing is his relationship with Hatsune Miku is that therapy.
No I think he's running away from his problems. It's like porn or drugs, there's a big underlying social problem he needs to fix but he's sealing it away for good. I'm not that far from becoming one of these guys myself I mean look at my pfp, that's a drawing of me and Asuna from SAO. I believe anything that's not natural and real isn't usually good for you. Sure, if he sees Miku as some kind of therapeutic toy that he shares his feelings with, it's understandable. But this whole relationship thing is taking it too far, he needs to fix his social problem and go talk to real women, face hardships, face rejection, etc. Also whenever people say they are happy on some kind of media, I suggest you don't take it at face value. I'm similar to this guy, and this sort of thing comes from a lot of loneliness and pain. Also it's 3am rn so I don't really know what I'm saying, I just don't think this is good for him or for society
As someone who knew about the Gatebox incident, watching this video is an... interesting experience. It's like watching Titanic, knowing that the ship will sink
What people call "fictosexual" is in reality form of parasocial relationship. For *some* people it might be a temporary boost to mood just like normal relationships, but they can very quickly become ugly because communication is one-sided. Fans drawing your waifu lewdly? Creator states something you fundamentally disagree with? Your friends are surprised/bit weirded out because you brought your body pillow to a gathering? The confrontation between reality and a person's "reality" can easily end up in physical confrontation, because the person in question cannot give up their believes in face of contradiction. Yeah, this guy is hurting no one if we don't count himself. Right now he might be happy with his situation, but what he needs is help instead of patting him on back.
like all things, what you described doesn't describe everyone. i don't completely disagree with you, there's definitely so many people that are in the situation you described, but also you have to understand that not every person who falls in love with a fictional character is unstable or has flawed relationships. yes, it isn't a relationship if you're the only real person, but it also isn't necessarily damaging as long as you don't bother other people like what you described
@@4belzzz And I said a such- temporarily such situation can be beneficial for "fictosexual" person, but in long run, it isn't mentally healthy for them. People who develop parasocial relationships to the point where they think they date a person/object of the parasocial relationship usually are using the parasocial relationship as a coping mechanism for other issues in their life. It might be loneliness, it might be genuine mental illness, etc. *THAT* is why I'm saying we should help these people instead of indulging them- their underlying issues won't solve themselves by using this coping mechanism.
I've said this in a related video years/months ago but I'm very proud of this comment section for understanding the nuances of culture, fandoms and the individual. Yes, it's a little odd but I'm happy people are thinking a little more critically about this situation rather than blow it off completely for being weird
Fun fact: He is not the only one or the first one who "married" this character. Somebody else did the same a year before but never got famous. Another fan did the same on march this year and kondo congratularse him on Twitter. They became friends in real life after that.
Technically hatsune miku and the other vocaloids are just the characters assigned to the voicebanks anyone can buy and use to make music with Its one of the reasons that the way the characters are depicted will never really be the same between two songs, especially in story heavy ones like Servant of Evil or Soleil
I don’t think it’s normal in what he’s doing, but he’s responsible for his own happiness and I’m glad he’s not hurting himself, might not be the healthiest way to cope with sadness, but I’m happy for him.
I can only imagine the suffocating feeling of seeing your lover slowly slip away (whether we're talking about death, illness, or falling out of love). That feeling must be terrible, the hopeless that comes with it would be be horrifying. I can see why someone would absolutely want to avoid ever experiencing those feelings.

IDK this just feels....sad. like i remember seeing this in a documentary about the decreasing birth rates in japan and it shows his man. I'm glad he was able to find happiness in his own way but.... it's stuff like this that is killing the population. and to make matters worse the Japanese government still refuses to make big steps to fix it. heck, the last thing I heard they did was to lower the prices of alcohol in an effort to help the birth rate......like what??? i truly trying to understand why that would help
Dunno if you're really asking (I'm bad with tone indicators) but probably the alcohol thing is to get more people wasted and have drunk sex. Quite insulting if you ask me.
The fact is that we all need love in life in both giving and receiving. Most people achieve this with other humans but others are not as 'lucky' to find another human that they can love for whatever reason be it valid or invalid. Those who cannot find themselves loving other people mostly find their love in pets, the joy they feel in their hearts when they come home and be greeted by their dog or cat for example. But we also have many people who find joy in their hobbies like cars, miniature modelling, painting, etc...These activities let them experience a feeling of love and it is this healthy feeling we all need. For us Miku fans, she gives us this feeling when we see her smile and dance and hear her voice. Thus it is quite understandable to embrace this good thing we found in life. Marrying Miku is more symbolic showing that we are eternally grateful that she is in our life. Sure it's easy for people to judge and say 'he should get himself a REAL woman' but some just don't want a "real" woman. "Real" can be whatever you want it to be.
You know what? I’m glad he’s happy! He’s not hurting anybody and it’s giving him hope to keep on living and fighting his demons. Who cares if it’s weird or a little unorthodox? I wish him and Miku a happy marriage and a good life! He seems very sweet.
Honestly by the end of it, I was feeling kinda sad that he couldn’t chat with her anymore. But this is worrying though, what happens when companies can make characters who are so good and lifelike, all people will prefer to love a character rather than other people? I mean these characters can be perfect, these relationships wont have fights or conflict. No hurt nor heartbreak, it might end humanity as we know it.
I mixed emotions about this whole thing. i heard about the story a long time ago and didn't really mind or care. Honestly, if he was happy, then whatever? I do agree, it's sad that someone can be pushed out of society so much that they marry a fictional character. Other than that, let the man live. I saw someone say this was a way to cope with a fear of death and the man needs to be stopped being crippled by his fear. All I gotta say to that is: Everyone should just die then. Not in a suicidal way just, ya know, just stop. Death is inevitable and fear of death is one as well since we don't know if there really is an afterlife. If your "Happiness" is so weird, then all people should give up and follow the example of the most perfect human out there, which doesn't exist because no human is perfect. If no perfect human exists, then just die. Of course I'm not saying suicide or muder, just, ya know, give up. Humans have no reason to live for. Nothing in this world does. The sun's gonna explode one day and whip everything out of this world. Or at least this solar system. If this world is gonna go anyway, why not make the most of it? Even if you get happiness from marrying Miku, you're gonna die anyway. May as well live happy. Problematic people make this world spin. If I'm gonna live until I die, why not make this world a show? And the most entertaining ones are the ones that make heads turn and get canceled on twitter. There really isn't anything worth it if you're not happy or entertained. So just deal with it, ya know?
You ask and I can only respond with "I am not enjoying this video." It is fascinating but at the same time extremely saddening, depressing and soul crushing to witness.
@@MohammedAgbadi But is he really happy? Like someone who survived an accident and can only move his eyelid to blink in code to say I'm happy to be alive.
I respect that you could hold a straight face to almost the entire video. Though this people don't hurt others, they must be hurt themselves. What happened to a human that "interact" with a fantasy is the better option to real life love.
honestly i just feel bad for him. it feels so inhumane to have feelings for something non-existant, and while him doing that fr doesnt hurt anyone, its still a sad thought to think about the whole situation.
While I am supportive of this guy and hope to follow in his footsteps, this is a sad story. That a man was so rejected and dejected by actual humans to the point that he developed a full blown disorder and sought solace and comfort from a fictional character shows just how far society has fallen. And I have a feeling we'll see so much, much more of this kind of situation in the coming decades. I hope he is able to find someone that can either help him update his tech or he is able to find another tech that lets him reconnect with what he's lost. Everyone deserves affection, even this guy.
They say the brain can't tell the difference between a connection to fictional or real people. At it's core, it's a harmless fixation that allows the person to go about newly found feelings without making the mistakes you would have in a relationship with a real person. Imo, these guys just aren't emotionally ready for the commitment, sacrifice, and autonomy of a real person. Especially in demanding countries like Japan. It's like starting off drawing fan art or making fanfiction.
"They say the brain can't tell the difference between a connection to fictional or real people." can you give me a source on that since I've read several research studies that prove opposite unless the person has some sort of mental illness. Idk about you but I can completely tell the difference between a fictional character and a real person. The connection I form is not at all the same
@@snailienvt Ngl, giving one source wouldn't change your mind if you already have confirmation bias with your collection. That is, unless I found a more reputable source. I don't feel all that strongly about the topic but I guess I'll be more clear so we're on the same basis. By a connection, I mean surface level. Of course, the connection isn't the same but there is a small difference between having a crush on an A list celebrity (ex 1% chance of a relationship) and having a crush on someone written by a real person (ex 0% chance of a relationship).
Honestly I find the whole situation odd, but I can partially see it from the perspective of other people saying that this harms no one. They're right to an extent, but he IS harming himself (whether he or anyone else wants to admit it) and perpetually stuck in that cycle. If anything, he is fixating on something that doesn't have any substance, and if behaviour like this becomes widely normalised, then to be quite frank, it's sad and definitely part of a deeper mental issue. Despite my dislikeness towards this stuff, it's not my life nor my job to dictate people's lives like this so go at it.

It’s like when people wanted to cancel Joji when they found out about Filthy Frank lmao. Like we been know
(It's a bop I really like it.)
I'm a bit of an older vocaloid fan. I really like when composers make really interesting concepts. (RIP Wowaka)
Or like, the dark concepts! That was the era that got me into Vocaloid. All of the horror-esque songs. (Miku, Gumi, Rin, Luka sometimes) MASA's works, Kikuo, I'm glad they're still making songs.
That shit was so cool. And the MMDs and how creative they can get. (Mad respects to rigging )
Though this video is about Mr Kondo and his wife Hatsune Miku, and exploring Fictosexuality.

Even in arts and entertainment, most people working for it get paid no money, only the very, very fortunate can have a happy adulthood in Japan.
When you explain it that deeply it actually shows how sad it is

Hatsune Miku has been 16 for 15 years. At this point she is a 31 year old woman pretending to be a teenager.
Isn't she is a voice bank for songs though? It's all up to us (fans) whether to see her as a teen, adult or etc tbh
miku is anything, miku is everything
Her age changes throughout and depending what song/story you listen to. For instants in one song she could be portrayed as a young kid but in another a high schooler but in a different song she could be portrayed as of full grown adult. I think the misconception is that everyone looks at her wiki and whoever did the info on there made her info age 16 which is why everyone thinks she’s just a teenager all the time
Miku can be anything one makes her out to be tbh. She don't really have that cannon stuff applied to her anymore. The official people behind her even said this themselves in response to people making their own different mikus with different races, ethnicities, etc.

I remember hearing that he had experienced a lot of work place bullying and Miku really helped him with that.
Similar to people who don't get fictosexuality, I simply don't understand why anyone wants to be with a real person.)
I do enjoy romance/adult stuff, but only if it doesn't involve "me." Sometimes I envision anime characters but most of the time, they are faceless (mostly) humanoid creatures that get into Romance and "stuff". It's just so much more comfortable for me, to live in my fantasy, than dealing with the stress of sharing my already scarce free time with another person. (I maybe could live with another ace person who isn't into adult stuff, and has similar hobbies than me, but I'm also aro, so I'm not even looking for a relationship.)
But hey, as long as it isn't hurting anyone, it's fine in my books. If these people want to marry dolls/pillows/fictional characters, let them. I'm not judging other people if they want to be in a relationship with other real people, and I'm also not judging people who want to marry fictional characters.

This we need more comments like this, this is what I'm thinking! ^^
I do think that it is not rare for people in Japan have that kinda of relationship. It is either because they are bullied in their workspace or their lives are in miserable. I'd be more concern if he was willing to kill people for being a fan of Miku, or trying to control how people portray her like in many other cases, but he isn't. Just vibing in this endless space of possibilities, in a way that makes him satisfied with his life, it could be better in many ways, but he's happy anyways.

Some simple examples with Miku :
- She can be a tsundere girlfriend with curly twirls in World is Mine (Ryo)
- She can be a doll with a appearance of a noble lady with long silk like turquoise hair in the Evilious Chronicle series (akunoP)
- A white haired ghost in many of PinocchioP songs.
- A black haired revengeful spirit or an emotionless futur Miku with shorter hair (Hachi)
Those are a few to list and they are just with Miku.
Thank you for mentioning Evilious! That series is so dope!
@C4 I mean society is pretty fucked up as it is, I don't think he's really doing much either way
As someone who knew about the Gatebox incident, watching this video is an... interesting experience.
Good explanation!!!
Agreed
This 👏🏼
like all things, what you described doesn't describe everyone. i don't completely disagree with you, there's definitely so many people that are in the situation you described, but also you have to understand that not every person who falls in love with a fictional character is unstable or has flawed relationships. yes, it isn't a relationship if you're the only real person, but it also isn't necessarily damaging as long as you don't bother other people like what you described
Hey, knowing how bad harrasment is in Japan towards women, I'm glad that this guy decided to not lash his traumas and repression on real people.
Respect for this man lmao I have many husbandos myself
man a legend
Lol me and you both fr
Just a tiny nitpick, the body pillows are called dakimakura (抱き枕). Luv your vids!!
Technically hatsune miku and the other vocaloids are just the characters assigned to the voicebanks anyone can buy and use to make music with
Its one of the reasons that the way the characters are depicted will never really be the same between two songs, especially in story heavy ones like Servant of Evil or Soleil
I mean I guess he’s happy..? Good for him haha. much love, Mohammed!
much love ash!
I didn't even know this was possible.
same..like literally
How was bro “courting” her like what pick up line did he use 🗿
lil bro said, i really like your music...
I can see why someone would absolutely want to avoid ever experiencing those feelings.
i wish i could one day be like this but with len kagamine. i started having a crush or even an obsession on him since around 2016 and still to this day in love with him. i wish in the near future ill be able to marry him like akihiko.
len genuinely makes me happy and helps me with a lot of things that humans disapointed me in, he is the only one that i know will never leave me and will always be there for me with his songs and figures
i mean, go for it, i guess. nobody is stopping you

Happy for this man
7:05 Actually he had a Hatsune Miku Holgram at home, costed him around 3.500bucks. But the company shutdown and his bot now doesn't have AI support anymore, so he can't speak with her anymore like he used too.
_(For those wondering wht the hell was she, she was some sort of "alexa", but would be displayed inside a 3D glass tube and would interact with you)._
The only real solution to this kind of problem constitutes as a war crime and violation of human rights.
1 person marrying a fictional character isn't gonna kill an entire population
@@peedrinker5000 Oh, you don't know? he's not the only one.....
Okay, but Miku isn’t canonically married. It’s not the same Miku, it’s his own version.
THATS WHAT IM SAYING!
I don't think anyone cares about the canon of vocaloid lol
@@Chewy00 ye
This is old news but thanks for bringing back up .
I hope his marriage gets fixed, as long as he's happy and healthy I would care less if he married a fictional character.
This goes to show how powerful the creative mind can be.
1:12 how did you say all of that with a straight face 😭😭
You should cover the AI Art situation that's been happening, if you haven't already.
So just deal with it, ya know?
thank you for this comment... i liked your perspective.
I AGREE WITH THIS PERSPECTIVE
I forgot completely about the person who married Hatsune Miku...
same! tiktok...

Some people just need Hatsune Miku to be happy, that's nice
i think this realationship is kinda wholesome. i mean if its not hurting anyone its ok i think
You ask and I can only respond with "I am not enjoying this video." It is fascinating but at the same time extremely saddening, depressing and soul crushing to witness.
lmaoooooo why is this so funny...the man is happy tho so i guess we gotta let him be
@@MohammedAgbadi But is he really happy? Like someone who survived an accident and can only move his eyelid to blink in code to say I'm happy to be alive.

I respect that you could hold a straight face to almost the entire video.
Though this people don't hurt others, they must be hurt themselves. What happened to a human that "interact" with a fantasy is the better option to real life love.
Real life love is as accessible and feasible as social mobility in the US
This seems like the better outcome of the "Regard Twilight Sparkle" thing from a few years ago. Good for him I suppose
honestly i just feel bad for him. it feels so inhumane to have feelings for something non-existant, and while him doing that fr doesnt hurt anyone, its still a sad thought to think about the whole situation.
I was expecting stuff about the Crypton/Yamaha split and how Miku isn't on Vocaloid 6... 💀
Don’t forget how the relationship went in the movie, HER, with Joaquin Phoenix. Still, it’s weird but he do whatever makes him happy.
I'm happy for him, what matters the most is his happiness, I would marry my oshi(s) if I had a chance.
One waifu spares one woman from an unhappy marriage
