In three feet of water just a little bit offshore are bait fish. That’s what sharks are looking for. Usually when they attack us it’s an accident, they’re chasing bait. Don’t swim in the morning or evening when they hunt. They do hunt all day too but mostly morning and evening when the winds aren’t blowing so much. Hurricane is making them hunt little fish. I’ve boogie boarded the gulf coast and fished since I was 5. I’m 57 . I have had sharks scrape my legs by accident, please just use this as advice to help. Also never swim alone or drunk. Please.

@@WarriorMichelle57 From a sea otter perspective, it is alike aircraft, one has to come to terms with reality and there is no giving up, be aware, very attentive. I go out past the third-forth sand bar with 18 feet of water, swim right next to the bottom facing up watching the Sun... One time about 20 miles up from South Padre, not a vehicle in sight, was chest deep and was just doing it with my girlfriend I saw a 20 foot Tiger Shark just 40 feet away watching me, I turned to see the girl obviously very frightened backing up, a fair distance already, and not going to inform me!

Bait fish stay in shallow water for protection from large predators. Sharks eat bait fish and come into shallow water to feed. It's common to catch sharks in the surf when fishing for whiting, reds, pompano, black drum, trout or other table fair, even as shallow as the wade gut. If you can't see your feet in knee deep water, it's best to stay out because sharks also don't see well in murky water. I'm more concerned with stepping on a ray than I am worrying about sharks.

on behind attacks so for them to suspect it’s the same shark makes more sense cuz a whole group of sharks suddenly deciding humans are on the menu is very unlikely. Sharks can mistake humans for seals but this is unlikely due to the shark attacking multiple people sharks don’t like the taste of humans so this is not a shark mistaking humans for seals, sharks also don’t like to go near the shore at all due to them having the ability to get stuck. What time were the attacks? And what type of shark? Sharks hunt mostly at night and are more active at night as well. Some sharks are more aggressive than others but what is the reasoning behind the attacks? Does it feel threatened? Is it territorial? Maybe it has an injury making it act out. The temperature of the water also can affect the sharks mood. I feel like we need more info on this… sorry my sister is studying marine biology and I love sharks, though it’s never ok when a human gets bitten, I just find this behavior so odd. They seem to just be doing a small taste bite or nibble…

Blacktips come to Texas waters during the summer and are schooling sharks that move along the coastline usually within casting distance from shore. A school of blacktips and poor visibility could create the scenario of multiple attacks and sightings. PS... Texas sharks don't feed on seals. Sharks are caught every day down here from the beach, sometimes in the wade gut between the sand and the first sand bar (knee deep to waist deep water).

Seeing a Shark IS COOL - - But Seeing It So Close To Shore When There Are People Around = NOT ! These "Attacks" Along Shallow Shores are Due To Hungry Sharks Following Their Noses and Instincts to Find a Meal - The Bait Fish / Schools of Fish are Possibly More Active Near the Shoreline Due to the Choppy Hurricane Conditions Further Out At Sea. NO Matter What - - When you See a Shark Near a Beach You Should Be Walking Up and Down the Coast Alarming Others - Looking For Lifeguards To Sound an Alarm. Not Just Spectating with Your Kids Saying I See It - It's Cool. And If You Are Visiting The Shore - - Do Not Wade During Dawn - Early AM and Dusk When More Shark Feeding Is Likely to be Happening. They DONT WANT TO EAT YOU - - But If You Are In the Water Surrounded By Darting Medium Sized Fish ( That you CANNOT SEE OR FEEL ) Your Leg Just Might Get In Their Mouth.
