Cheap rust fix for those of you guys at home who don't have a welder or simply have a rust spot that is save-able. Total cost for the job was around 25 bucks.
Thanks Marco, I love your videos and I have a del sol with similar rust, not too bad and I actually had bought some glass filler for my upcoming paint job. Awesome to see This process successfully applied thanks for posting your process it really helps the little guys who need some guidance.
There's always going to be haters out there saying "you should have done it this way" like you said its a budget repair and no patch panels available. It looks great!
Marco I like how you state that this is a quick and dirty method not ideal. It will do the job for awhile thats for sure. I know when we do repair rust even with welded panels butt joint or even lap joint we always use fiberglass filler. Its strong and works great.
So i understand the long strand filler is for big holes, but why did you use short strand filler over it? Could you just use regular filler as a skim coat?
😂 Ask and you shall receive. I asked on your buddies Green Honda Civic video, "How did you guys patch the rust holes?", and then I find this video. Great tip/trick. But I notice that most likely only work if the area behind the patch "is not" hollow. So if it were, I take it you would have had to weld? Or can you mold the fiberglass in that case?
It’s an old Honda. If it lasts another 3 years then it’s still a win. I wouldn’t pAy money to have someone weld new panels on that car. Fiberglass is good enough for a car like this.
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 nice! I've set a notification! Love the videos mate they are so informational and educational! Btw, do you ship worldwide?
Ok you like 7hr away but I had this painter supposed to paint my car to months ago and I got all my own stuff and he playing what can you do for me it's a 4door lexus and all the jams
Shit. I just came across this video. I wish i had knew you were looking for panels i actually have 2 i salvaged off a nother del sol plus left overs from restoring mine that i had shipped from out of country. Where about you from
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 i can take pictures of the quaters that came off another car that i didnt use. Hopfully you can use them. If they will work for you just have to figure out how to get them to you. I live in central newyork area.

Most importantly its waterproof :)
Thanks Marco! Short & sweet - no BS as always.
Thanks!
That's awesome. I can't wait for the next video.
Thanks!
I’m fixing my rot too but I’m using sheet metal first. I gotta do Infront of the rear wheels and a little on bumper

You could just skim over it yea. I decided to go over it with short strain, it's optional.

Love your videos Marco. Any plans of spraying a satin paint job? Would be very interested in seeing that.
Don't do satin jobs much but possibly in the future!
Hey where can I get one of those sanding pads for the orbital sander you use? It looks like it’s a firm pad but still can contour to the body.
I think it's called a interface pad there on ebay
Good video. That fiberglass filler smells nasty, can’t imagine what it’d smell like when you put a heat gun to it, lol.
It's got a strong smell lol

Fiberglass can last 5-7 years all depends on quality of repair and if rust is treated
You could at least use the mesh that bondo sells to help the bondo stick
If the rust was that bad I would have cut and welded it. That mesh stuff is usually used for rust spots that are clean thro holes nothing there.
I WANT PART 2
Part 2 coming next week!
