I just got advised after a game, that as Uther, my job is to "Just go in, stun and die." and that "Staying alive to heal just doesn't work out." What should I think of that? :D
+Filip Porend Hah, there are situations in a team fight in which Uther is more useful dead than alive. When Uther dies, he goes into super-healer mode, and at level 20 he can resurrect after dying. To say it's your job to die is maybe an overstatement... With more experience, you'll learn at which point it's more useful for you to be dead during a fight. You also have to judge how the fight is going.
+13b1cdw10g no and iust no. will take you 10 seconds min to get back into fight meaning in 10 secs + you clear one enemy wave = to 425 or was it more xp a kill is 150 - 250 xp at start of game.....meaning if you dont get that then well your stupid as fuck. :-) :-) :-) :-)
I say fuck em. A good Uther is one of the best burst healers in the game and while his CC is limited he can really save your ass with it in a pinch. Never underestimate the Lumberjack
Lately I've been coming across some really rude players on the American servers. Who seem to think its cool to call someone a "noob" or stuff like "go die" (the person in my game was a healer too lol). Its never cool to treat your team mates like that. I know its a lot worse on the other games (Dota and LoL). But this is something we can avoid in the HotS community as a whole and truly distinguish ourselves as a quality player base. If you feel you're too good for the team, then try your best and use that extra knowledge to carry the team. Give orders/ideas, help the others. But don't resort to petty name calling and think you're somehow helping. And if you're not playing with a well trained group of regular team mates... You have no right to treat someone's else's experience this way! Because in the end, that only makes YOU the person who's bringing the team down. Its YOUR fault alone then if your team isn't working well enough with you to win the game. And in the end its a game, learn to have some fun.
undeny Agreed very well said! My overall experience with HotS has been positive, but lately I've been running into some people who just want to blame everyone else and create a toxic environment. Personally, if a new player comes into the game I wouldn't want that negativity to be the first thing he/she experiences. The game is meant to be fun!
+undeny I know allot of lol and Dota players have started to play hots as well (I play hots and lol) and unfortunately they can bring over some negativity with them, this is partly because in lol especially over the last year or so the devs focused on multiple victory paths via taking different objectives but in Hots there are only 2 or 3 depending on the map, on top of this it can be much easier to carry a game of lol or dota as individuals scale separately (when have you seen someone 1v4 in hots)
I was going to comment "wrong, biggest mistake is dying", then the vid loaded and I realized the vid was actually on point. Good on ya. Nova free week now, and all day long I see Novas pick GP and then suicide for kills all game long (read: snipe someone on low life while 3+ of their teammates are right next to them and then pummel Nova instantly after). Good vid.
I've played lots but I never thought into depth this hardcore.. thank you. I wish everyone could see this video. Even people who don't play HOTS for this video is good for any team game.
Calling out n00bish behavior? Justified. Making objectives crystal clear? Essential. Pointing out why "heroic" play is wrong? Necessary. Being able to do all that and more, to make better players WITHOUT being condescending or insulting? PRICELESS. You know, I think I'm a little in like with you. :D Seriously, you have done a great service for a great many people. Blizzard SHOULD use your video for training purposes.
thing is, I watch these videos, but my (when random) teammates do NOT. so many times ive seen that "its okay to get back in"-thing happening, if I only had a penny for it, oh boy, id be spilling cash out of my pockets by now :) #cashstacktoobigtofoldFTW
So I should pull back more often? Tomorrow will be my 4th day on this game and I noticed that I cannot take a 1v1 with certain Heroes but I was sure that stalling them was a good thing even tho I died alot. But what if they need just one more Tribute before cursing us? If there are two enemy Heroes in my lane & I'm alone, do I call help, move to another lane or what? P.S: Do I'll need a team with players I know in order to win Ranked Matches? I only played Quick Matches but if there's Abathur with a melee Assassin on the enemy team, I get sliced to death x-( Do need to be part of a group in order to win on Ranked?
Michel Morningstar you can stall them but you shouldnt die for it. Unless you know, that your team is on the way, and will outnumber/win the objective for sure. Death is a last resort, to ensure certainty. With the lanes question. When you defend as ranged, you should see yourself as artillery. Defending as melee, you stay behind your minions, preferably near your cannon towers, and you kill off the minions and mercenaries first. You wanna make sure that your cannon tower, arent occupied, by firing at non-heroes. So you remove minions, and IF enemy heroes come close, they will be slowed and take massive damage, and you wont take minion damage while swooping in for the kill. If they dont come close to towers, then you have defended. If they are two there, you do the same, because that means your team is 4 vs. 3 somewhere else on the map. NOTE: If 2 heroes are pushing real good cause the characters are made for that, then u can get help. its impossible to keep a duo of Zagara, Azmodan, Sylvanas, Probius, Nazeebo etc., back on your own. Unless u are skilled and play a sertain hero.
As a support a lot of times I had to sacrifice my life just because a teammate didn't retreat when he had to; the worst scenario is when they don't get why I went in and stay and die anyways. Also when this happens it usually happens again, a lot of low tier players don't change their tactic and die multiple times because of the same mistake over and over again, it can be frustrating :(
Darkus45 what i do is: i just heal and help, but put myself far enough in the range so i can escape if anything goes wrong. And after 2-3 sec if he/she still stay there and not retreat after i ping "Retreat", i will just leave... some time if they want to die you can't help it.......
Darkus45 when i lose i don't say, they made me lose! i just say i lost the game, and maybe better chance next time... i can't win all the game anyway. don't make win and lose that big of deal just enjoy the game. well, i only care win or lose when i play rank...
I am pretty experienced so far, but man, THIS should be the HotS Intro that every new player has to watch before joining a game. Very true words and great advice for beginners. I see the opposite of this almost every match.
I want to point out that some heroes, like Nova with the range upgrade to her Q snipe can actually troll the shit out of the tributes on Cursed Hollow. But seriously, if you want to learn how to play Nova, you have to start with the realization that you don't play by the same rules as the rest. You can't pretend that you're Valla and get shit done.
I came across this video last night as I was playing HotS for the first time to go for the Diablo wings. I was watching while trying and failing at not dying 10x in a row. Luckily the friend I was playing with at the time was very nice and very patient! Now I have watched a few of your HotS videos and plan to watch some more and then try not to be as horrible at HotS as I was last night. I wasn't sure I would even enjoy the game but... I think I kind of do. Plus I want those wings! So thanks for having these videos around! :)
I feel like between diablo 3 and HotS your channel will grow even bigger :) It'd be kool to see rhykker at 1mil subs someday. You have a great voice for this kind of thing too It's so entertaining to listen to good points that need to be made. Is it okay to trade with say, Butcher, where you know you will die quickly but you know you can take down a strong enemy assassin who would last much longer? I play butcher a lot and I'm trying to get even better than I am but I'm still working on my reckless gameplay that I have sometime.
Khamis1203 Thanks man! A 1-1 trade generally isn't a good idea unless you're behind in levels - you will get much more XP for the kill than they will. As I said in the video, trading 1-1 can only be positive for you if you feel you are worth less than the person you're killing. Does your team need you less than the enemy team needs the person they are killing? If there are 2 assassins on your team and only 1 on the other team, then maybe it's okay to trade - they will no longer have DPS while you will still have an assassin. Still, the ultimate goal really should be becoming such a good player that your team will always be better off with you alive than dead :)
I onced lost a fight with johanna. Everyone retreats but 2 were going to dje I pinged retreat and ran back. Turned up my shield and then did the faling sword ult to escape to safety What happend? My team thought lets help her escape and died
I've even seen a Varian try to solo a boss camp. The next thing you know he gets ganked by the whole enemy team and loses it to them. He didn't ping, ask for help, or anything.
Had a game as diablo. Entire team low on health and mana. I was doing a fucking fantastic job of peeling and getting away yet they kept going back in, despite me constantly pinging to retreat. Only to have our entire team die and me being the only one up with soul stone. Never play solo quick match diablo anymore.
This and not soaking/not managing lanes correctly are two of the biggest issues I see coming up in pickup games. Players need to learn to engage correctly and manage the map correctly.
If you find yourself over extending a lot consider taking camps to continue pushing a lane for you. Timing camps right before an objective will get you more value for them since it will either force an opponent to deal with the lane being pushed or the mercenaries will take out a fort/keep. This will turn the objective into a 4v5 giving your team the advantage. Dieing for a keep can be worth it since without a keep in that lane your side will spawn catapults that will push that lane the rest of the game creating map pressure constantly. That really depends on how much value the enemy team would get if you're not in the fight for that amount of time though.
The whole don't blame your teammates thing was a thing that shocked me. I started playing 14 hours ago, and I've played basically all day, absolutely addicted to the game now. I've played many MOBAs before, but what stands out with HotS, to me, is that nobody is being rude. The chat is not filled with hate. Nobody rage quits. Might be an EU thing, but DOTA, LOL and Awesomenauts all have that problem, where the chat box becomes pure toxic if someone steps just one step out of their optimal position.
morphman86 that's because if you die like, twice to a carry in league / dota you have literally just lost the game, if you mis smite and lose baron in league you just lost the game, in this game though? you die and it doesn't mean shit, this a dumbed down baby version of mobas and messing up isn't nearly as punishing as it is in other mobas so nobody is going to be that pissed at you in this game as they will be in other mobas
King Mockery Oh yeah, cuz getting a d/c from the carry after he rage quits is so much fun or farm for 30 mins and then lost 2 team fights and ff or gg the game is so much better! Tell me what rank are you on HOTS? Casual play is one thing but dying at level 15+ putting your team on a 4 vs 5 you already lose that final push for you team and the game. So talking out of your ass is quite easy, fan boy.
HOTS can get salty too, especially in ranked, but generally the toxic level seems lower than that of other mobas. Occasionally there are some afkers or griefers in qm but the experience is usually pretty chill.
Late game deaths are still punishing due to the longer respawn timer. I think the big reasons for this game being more chill is the shorter games, absence of all chat, and lack of last hitting.
Thanks for this vid. Been rank 1 since the first two weeks of HL, and even there the people really needs to hear this. So tired playing those games where the team mates or opponents run for a major objective and goes in 2v5 like they cant think for themself what would be the result of doing such a stupid thing. This is basics which everyone whos not just playing the game really casual should know but alot of people doenst.
0:40 Hmm gotta disagree with you there, sometimes I can be retreating when an ally comes up behind me (thinking he's helping) and blocks my exit... actually happens quiet often seeing most maps have very narrow jungles.
Very good advice for newer players, although you talk about Illidan like he's the squishiest hero in the game~ I feel he's actually fairly tanky for an assassin, maybe someone like Zeratul would've been a more suitable hero for your examples? Liked and subbed!
Good video. Very informative, especially with the warrior parts. In most cases I’ve had to jump in myself as Diablo because either my teammates are dead or they are not really focusing on the objective and I would have to do it myself. In most cases when I play as a warrior, the assassin characters always die first and will I have to tank my way out since Diablo is quite squishy at lvl 1
6:44 THANK YOU. I am sick of people getting into dumb watchtower fights. I just don't understand why people are so enthusiastic about this shit. I saw players ping the watchtower 10 times before the gates even open. It's especially terrible on Blackheart's Bay if the team leaves bottom lane alone to join the pointless watchtower rendezvous and/or die off in that fight in just 50 secs, and then the team loses the first doubloons. So freaking annoying.
As an Artanis main, people keep telling me "why didn't you run noob" when I call for retreat when a team fight goes sour. This video explains exactly why I don't run (also because Artanis can't escape but that's a different story). Would rather stay and die, while forcing a couple of heroes to recall, than run and still die, leaving them in fighting shape for camps etc.
One more thing about the level 9-10 advantage: When they reached level 10, they have all of their heroics off cooldown, meaning that they don't just have them, but they will probably use all of them at once, and will have perfect control over the flow of the battle.
While I take your point that you shouldn't immediately blame your teammates for losses/deaths, I think there is a HUGE void between higher level player POV and lower level play POV. Players at the high level can say, "you shouldn't blame your team" and it will likely be true because most player are really good at high level. But at low level, there are so many more situations where blaming your team is warranted and indeed should be done. A grandmaster telling someone in bronze that you shouldn't blame your team because it would put you in the wrong mentality is like a sensei telling his student, "just raise your knee higher, it's really easy and you'll put yourself in the wrong mentality if you think you can't", when in reality it takes months if not years to reach that point. A good sensei would say, "just kick a little higher and push yourself to be better". He wouldn't demand perfection when it isn't possible.
"It's no one else's fault but your own" And that literally has an exception Rhykker. Artanis. He's literally designed to be the tip of the Spear if built as a tank, which he can be built as one of the most toughest tanks if done well. When Artanis goes in, if the Team follows, that team wins 80% of the time. Don't get me wrong man, I know alot of player make that mistake, but the thing is, Artanis is wierd in that unlike most other characters who do melee, Artanis has literally no escapes and he has no ability to draw in enemies without putting himself in danger. When he was newly released into the game before everyone else got access to him, I got to learn him, and yeah, sadly 8/10 times, you WILL die as Artanis because the team is too scared to go in with him. Artanis is really otherwise barely good as an assassin hero, or a damage-built hero. It'll be decent, but not as good as a tank build, which if you do it right, nobody can 1v1.
Video one year old, but still works miracles for those that listen :) TL;DW version is: 1. Don't die!!!! 2. Don't YOLO and die!!! 3. Don't blame team if you are dumb to not listen 1. and 2. Thanks Rhykker! I've finished all Season stuff in D3, except pushing above GR85 solo, so I've started with HotS to see all the fuss about 2.0 (got from level 4 to 18 within last few days, still mostly Vs. A.I.)... Do you even play HotS anymore?
Recent example of a good 1-for-1 trade: In my last game of the brawl that was on Cursed Hollow and had snowballs, I was Falstad. Both teams had 2 tributes and another was spawning at the other side of the map. I flew to it and the enemy Nova was already trying to grab it. We killed each other, which gave our Chromie time to take the tribute. We won the game soon after that.
some thoughts on trading, sometimes it is worth while to trade. for example if they have one player who is really hurting your team because of composition or just higher skill that is almost always worth while. also if the enemy team is ahead in levels especially if they have a significant lead it is also worthwhile, you will get more exp than they will and on top of that they will have a longer cool down.
I can honestly say that i have never in my moba playing life blamed a team mate for me dying, In HoTs it's always being out of position which leads to the cc train and inevitable death, In Dota 2 it's a mix of being out of position and getting almost instagibbed because one of the carry's got really fed. I'm also extremely glad Rhykker mentioned the whole watch tower thing because ive had a couple people lately who say it's gg because you didn't get the vision in the first minute and it's ridiculous
I think one of the main issues I see in my games is when my team is 1 or 2 members down, they still try to attack the enemy team aggressively... and gets stomped, naturally. And I can do nothing but facepalm as the 2 first guys who died and just respawned bravely charge the enemy... and get murderized again. You'd think they'd realize if they were outnumbered and outleveled that pushing teamfights is a bad idea, lol xD
Nice vid Rhykker, Players should always consider that there are new players in the game and give constructive feedback and don't shout things like, you a noob, we lost because of you or saying things like "don't die". The most toxic games I have played are Hero League matches, there are a lot of player who consider themselves "pro's" talking very negative and play horrible themselves, dive in team fights with a 8 / 10 level disadvantage for example. It can be so frustrating, but I have learned that if mute the toxic player and let the rest of your team do the same, the game can be a positive experience again, even when you lose.
Great video :D I gravitate to Tanky roles & am new to HOTS (and MOBAs) and notice myself dying a lot in some games. It's great to have self-awareness. Thanks for literally just saying DONT DIE in a constructive way.
ManaphyGames Just pay attention to the map jeez. Map awareness is one of the most important facts in Hots. Most people soak and get ganked but have no idea how
I've been playing HOTS for a while now but I still learned a few things from this video :) Or more like it made me have a lightbulb moment like "Ohhhh" :D
I had a Leoric teammate who ended the game with 19 deaths because he was basically constantly fighting the entire enemy team and using his passive to annoy them, but he always just went 1v5 claiming it was a strategy and that the rest of the team needed to be pushing while he was fighting. Then we'd lose every team fight because it was 4v5, so that was pretty bad. But yea Illidans definitely tend to have a lot of deaths, not just because he's hard to play, but he was recently fixed to not have invulnerability frames during his dive, so people still think he's invincible and try to kill an entire team.
I feel all new players should be required to watch this video. That bit about the tank pinging retreat and the reaction of his team mates made me mad because I've been in that situation so many times before playing Johanna.
It's also both annoying and kinda amusing when you hat someone as Abathur to save them and they decide that a magician has arrived and turn around and try to rambo the enemy team
6:20 omfg so true. idk how many times playing abathur or tassadar i shield a near-death playing to give some protection while they run, and their first thought is "Abathur gave me his hat, that means he thinks we can win this!" and they turn to fight 1v4, then blame you.
I am usually playing as a tank and i dont give it much of a though :) My job is to go in the front lines and take the hits :) As far as the Ilidan joke goes.... He is super powerful and very usefull if played like he is supposed to. One of the best things for Ilidan is to have a healer with him at all times :) My boyfriend and i played a game where he was Ilidan and i was support, but i cant remember witch one i was.... The point is that i was next to him as much as i cound and healed him as often as i could :) This helped him alot and i think having a support with Ilidan at all times is one of the best things for him :)
great vid ! very complete and showing the complexity of actually being a 'good player'. i agreed on every single point :) i wish more people would be thinking that way.
Did anyone ever address the fact that it is not "respond, response, or responded" but "respawn, respawns, and respawned" as in RE-spawn (to spawn again)? Can also get the definition from Google: "In video games, spawning is the live creation of a character, item or mob. Respawning is the recreation of an entity after its death or destruction, perhaps after losing one of its lives."
hero i see with the most deaths on my team most commonly: me still dont know how i even get myself into the situations. it looks fine but then suddenly something like me dying in a second happens even though i was WINNING that fight.
I often play Nova+Zeratul with my buddy... In most games our team has like 50 kills+ at the end of a game while the enemy team only has 10-15, but won the game.
I find it helpful to ask them, as politely as possible, to play more safe. That or if I am playing tank or support I'll be going to their lane to help them. Other than that nothing you can do really.
should probbably still try to avoid it. illidan with decent support and his demon ult is known in competetive to be able to kill an entire team. theirs always more value to be had.
🙄a while ago i was Dehaka on Dragon shire and capturing bottom bruiser camp with a falstad. An enemy showed up and we got him to so low and he ran away. After we got the camp he showed up again and i instantly called retreat, enemy fort and towers are up, no friendly mercs around except for the bruiser camp. And all the other enemies are not present on the map. That falstad instantly barrel rolled toward their fort wanting to kill the enemy. Next second he was attacked by the fort and 4 enemy heroes and got vaporized. “Dehaka you idiot why didn’t you help me”
I recommend that you play all of the heroes that are free each week and get them to level five for the 500 gold you will receive. As you get gold try and buy heroes that are at the top of the tier list, but do your best to play a wide variety and never shy away from trying someone new even if you don't like them in the lore. Hope that helps :D
Hi Rhykker, could you please do a begginers guide for Tracer on HOTS. I really see a lot of potential for that character, however I end up dying more often that I would pteffer for my team, I try to stay away from the fight and getting oportunities however she needs to approach and risk herself in order to deal damage as well to apply combos, so maybe is my approach to Battles, maybe I rush when we are losing minions and towers, I would appreaciate that guide a lot as your approach to the game is about team play and supporting your team, or if someone can recommend me a guide to improve my Tracer, thanks to you in advance
As an Illidan main I think my biggest problem is popping Evasion AS SOON as I start attacking someone. I need to get better at saving it until they actually start attacking me.
Sure, constantly dying gives incredible advantage to the enemy team and any skilled played should try to minimize it as much as possible, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's the worst thing that you could let happen or even deny that in some cases dying is a better solution than the alternative. For instance - succefully preventing the enemy team from activating the statue and controlling the knight until the rest of your team reaches it or takes control of one of the bases. Or dying to succesfuly activate a boss instead of your enemies. Or dying but securing 2 or more enemy hero kills. Etc etc.. While I agree that safe play is crucial, I often see many players losing on an advantage simply because they play too safe and dont know how to weigh a situation.
I disagree that early team-fighting over watchtower in Pirates Bay is 'useless'. Reason for team fighting is tactical advantage due to early treasure spawn at 3 min. So if you kill 1-2 opposite members they would be late returning for treasure top. So as you see, team fight has nothing to do with vision rather timing for treasure. :P
I love what you say about supports trying to help people get away and they re-engage instead xD I have gotten myself killed for trying to help so many times as a support lol
almost every time i am playing warrior i am taking heavy hits for my teammates and try to let them retreat with only me that dies but nope there is always that 1 guy that goes back thinking he can 1v4 them and then dies
I always see Diablo die the most, or leoric, they forget about the xp the enemy gets and think it's ok to die when you can just respond almost instantly or when you can still help out on the battlefield
I just played Malf (Level 50), and was shunned upon by some newcomer newbs that i could not save them from enemy team. We had Xul, Genji, Rag, Malf and Li Ming they had Zarya, Tassadar, Lucio, Zeratul and Lunara. My team over and over overextended. I could not keep up with heals. Constantly arriving on objectives 1 by 1. I died 1 time during the game. Rest of the team died like 9 times each. Nobody listened to my retreat pings. I got so mad at the end of the game...
John Havering can all Sylvanas use banshees for escape instead for dmg? Can all Sylvanas stop piking mind control and try the other ult too? Can all Sylvanas stop trying to waste 15 mins on a camp when they are under lvl 13??
hooshangmaster Not while actually in game but you can learn them in the hero pick screen by selecting them and going to the abilities tab. You can however see what talents they picked by bringing up the score board and clicking on shows talents, it can show you what an enemy is building his/her hero as.
I played uther few days ago in the dragon shrine I sacrificed myself to save my teammate but I think that was a good idea because when uther is dead he can heal so much faster and rest of my team came for help so in the end we were able to trade 1 for 5 and we got dragon knight
The biggest thing I see when I play heroes is the vision and a lack of map awareness. Pings are very useful and under used buy a vital part if you in a 1v2 lane ping so one lane doesn't become a 2v4 or a 2v3. Pings save lives. Vision is important in a moba but slightly less in heroes than in league. I feel vision in hereos is important post lvl 10, or when setting up for a teamfight or seiging.
Vermundr44 I think it is because people who play F2P games, don't tend to have the mindset to become a pro. I watch videos like this, but I'm quite sure that the majority of HotS players do not. So it isn't wishful thinking, it is a video made for individuals like you and me who wants to become better at the game... and listening to Rykker's lovely, lovely voice.
omg, as I watched this video I was thinking only: if all the players from public games watched this video at least one time before getting to map, quick matches would be sooo much more tolerable to play without shouting on each other and blaming your team for the fact you died alone agains whole opposing team somewhere for no reason, while your teammates were doing something useful. So many crucial need-to-know things for the beginners in just one video. So bad 95% ofthe players in public games do not realize those simple things even after 1k+ matches. Blizzard should include this video in the unskippable tutorial. Thanks!
this is a great guide for noobs, and still aplicable today, but when you get into higher MMR you will need to learn to pick heroes that can solo, and force multiply with the team. I have more of the mentality to never take a team fight you don't need if it is not in your teams favor.
I am lvl 20 on Illidan (not my main) . For me he seems pretty easy to play, but I have to say, the Illidan from 2014 was harder than that from today...
+Rhykker Uh... Guess I'll have to find some guide an try to learn more about it then. Thank you. :)
+13b1cdw10g So you mean, that you don't agree to the video at all?
And in the end its a game, learn to have some fun.
undeny Well said!
undeny Agreed very well said! My overall experience with HotS has been positive, but lately I've been running into some people who just want to blame everyone else and create a toxic environment. Personally, if a new player comes into the game I wouldn't want that negativity to be the first thing he/she experiences. The game is meant to be fun!
undeny Logged in just to like this. Great point and very well put.
undeny agreed but i really hate those players that die stupid. But i never start insulting them, that doens't help anybody.
How can we convince Blizzard to make this video a prerequisite before you're allowed to play HOTS
I'm about to start playing with real peeps instead of just AI. Such a well put, informative vid. Subbed. :)
Darkus45 than i just mute him :) ..... there are always people like this in the game, so i just thank god i can mute them XD
Tong ZHANG and after you mute them? They still made you lose :(
Darkus45 when i lose i don't say, they made me lose! i just say i lost the game, and maybe better chance next time... i can't win all the game anyway. don't make win and lose that big of deal just enjoy the game. well, i only care win or lose when i play rank...
Tong ZHANG Noone said anything about making it a big deal or not enoying the game, you're completely changing the subject :/
"Most of the time, when you die; it's no one else's fault but your own" A beautiful quote
Every single HoTS player should watch this video. Nice job
But noobs think Jihad tyrael build is a thing. ;-)
Lol
+Peida Li Jihad means holy war, it has nothing to do with suicide bombing.
+RichieHendrixx stfu no one cares.
yupster123
obviously you care
Allahu Akbah
***** Right on, yeah I've been working on my deaths haha, thanks for the response man.
I onced lost a fight with johanna. Everyone retreats but 2 were going to dje
I pinged retreat and ran back.
Turned up my shield and then did the faling sword ult to escape to safety
What happend? My team thought lets help her escape and died
I am so tired of seeing other players run off on their own to try and take down 3 opponents by himself.
Its really bad when tanks do this
I've even seen a Varian try to solo a boss camp. The next thing you know he gets ganked by the whole enemy team and loses it to them. He didn't ping, ask for help, or anything.
LEEEEEEEEEROYYYYYYY JEEEEEENKINS
Why does this remind me of some valla players that I saw.
This video and many others are the reason why I am suscribed to you Rhykker, keep up the good work!
I got addicted fast too.
Yeah but some ppl believe Ilidan can 1v5 and just jump onto whatever enemy they can
Because it's fun and that's what matters
As an Artanis main, people keep telling me "why didn't you run noob" when I call for retreat when a team fight goes sour. This video explains exactly why I don't run (also because Artanis can't escape but that's a different story). Would rather stay and die, while forcing a couple of heroes to recall, than run and still die, leaving them in fighting shape for camps etc.
4 years later and nothing has really changed.
Worst mistake: trusting blizzard's classification of marksmen as assassins.
Quick question, what if your team is level 15 and are about to enter a death match, and your gazlow, what do you do?
Is it ok to blame the healer when your running away about to die from poison and there’s a full bar morales running past me?
Video one year old, but still works miracles for those that listen :)
TL;DW version is:
On dragon shire I sometimes sacrifice myself at a shrine to give my team the extra time needed to take the dragon. Am I doing right in that?
6 years later and this video is still relevant.
rhykker are you gonne do a updated tier list with leoric or butcher any time?
Noah Lisberg Yep! Check the text version here: rhykker.com/heroes-of-the-storm-tier-list-leoric-patch/
Man.. you've the most interesting voice i've ever heard in my life.
+Cesare Iurlaro Well thank you!
However i've seen you didn't do any more Hots video.. will you in the future?
+Cesare Iurlaro Yes I would love to get back into HotS and I'm now in a position where I may be able to do just that!
Glad to hear that.. i'm waiting that moment so! :)
+Cesare Iurlaro Have you ever heard Morgan Freeman's voice ?
I think one of the main issues I see in my games is when my team is 1 or 2 members down, they still try to attack the enemy team aggressively... and gets stomped, naturally. And I can do nothing but facepalm as the 2 first guys who died and just respawned bravely charge the enemy... and get murderized again.
You'd think they'd realize if they were outnumbered and outleveled that pushing teamfights is a bad idea, lol xD
Nice vid Rhykker,
Players should always consider that there are new players in the game and give constructive feedback and don't shout things like, you a noob, we lost because of you or saying things like "don't die".
Great video :D
I gravitate to Tanky roles & am new to HOTS (and MOBAs) and notice myself dying a lot in some games. It's great to have self-awareness.
Thanks for literally just saying DONT DIE in a constructive way.
How do I live when 100 billion super fast heavy-hitting long-root-time and long-stun-time are ganking me? Constantly when I am just trying to soak?
dnt be pushed up to the wave wen u dnt see any enemy's
Dont overextend. There ya go. Also pay attention to the map.
LMAO, 6 months to 8 months away. To put it up, I was the only one on the lane, and was pretty close to my base.
ManaphyGames Just pay attention to the map jeez. Map awareness is one of the most important facts in Hots. Most people soak and get ganked but have no idea how
hello there, I try Kerrigan and I die a lot cause position, and stuns, how can I get more kills and more time inside playing in general?
Great video man. Motivating and clear. Love the way you use your words. :)
This is an awesome video for new players,I had these problems when i started like first 5-6 levels!
It's also both annoying and kinda amusing when you hat someone as Abathur to save them and they decide that a magician has arrived and turn around and try to rambo the enemy team
glad i subbed you. i love your D3 videos as well. keep it up bro
6:20 omfg so true. idk how many times playing abathur or tassadar i shield a near-death playing to give some protection while they run, and their first thought is "Abathur gave me his hat, that means he thinks we can win this!" and they turn to fight 1v4, then blame you.
This video should definitely be the unskippable introduction vid for every new player to the game, right ?
HotS 2.0 ! 2 Years later and this Video is still sooo important to know. nothing has changed in lower elo.
You sound like the original Warcraft 3 tutorial voice over. Did you do voice work for Blizzard 10-15 years ago?
Nah, but I'd love to voice for Blizzard!
hero i see with the most deaths on my team most commonly: me
still dont know how i even get myself into the situations. it looks fine but then suddenly something like me dying in a second happens even though i was WINNING that fight.
I often play Nova+Zeratul with my buddy... In most games our team has like 50 kills+ at the end of a game while the enemy team only has 10-15, but won the game.
oh that's very Nice. What Am I supposed to do if my team mates are chain dying ? like 2 times each under 3 minutes ?
I find it helpful to ask them, as politely as possible, to play more safe. That or if I am playing tank or support I'll be going to their lane to help them. Other than that nothing you can do really.
At 4:10 he meant murky's death is only a quarter (0.25) its still pretty bad to die as him though
Hey but what if i trade myself while playing Ilidan for 2 enemy heroes. Is it Ok than?
should probbably still try to avoid it. illidan with decent support and his demon ult is known in competetive to be able to kill an entire team.
theirs always more value to be had.
that was my main mistake when start Hots... (ilidan player) XD
i will see all your videos.
GJ, bro.
“Dehaka you idiot why didn’t you help me”
Can Leoric be placed in the same cat as Murky when it comes to deaths? Yes I'm a MOBA n00b
please respond, should i buy Sylvanas for 10k? Valla seems the same and is only 2k, i'm new to the game
I really see a lot of potential for that character, however I end up dying more often that I would pteffer for my team, I try to stay away from the fight and getting oportunities however she needs to approach and risk herself in order to deal damage as well to apply combos, so maybe is my approach to Battles, maybe I rush when we are losing minions and towers, I would appreaciate that guide a lot as your approach to the game is about team play and supporting your team, or if someone can recommend me a guide to improve my Tracer, thanks to you in advance
do you use some ui mod or did the ig ui just change?
This video frames all my mistakes i have ever made in this game! (Like picking illidan :P) Good job on the video too
As an Illidan main I think my biggest problem is popping Evasion AS SOON as I start attacking someone. I need to get better at saving it until they actually start attacking me.
i think most people know this. Just as most people know they shouldn't chase kills, but they do it anyway but it's a shiny thing.
I like that ui. how did you do that sir?
Being continuously pushed back to your core. Unable to do anything but watch is worst than dying.
I just play a QM yesterday, and surprisingly Zarya has the most death I ever saw at 11
Who made the quote of "its better if everyone in the team does a stupid engagement than only a few"?
I disagree that early team-fighting over watchtower in Pirates Bay is 'useless'. Reason for team fighting is tactical advantage due to early treasure spawn at 3 min. So if you kill 1-2 opposite members they would be late returning for treasure top. So as you see, team fight has nothing to do with vision rather timing for treasure. :P
I love what you say about supports trying to help people get away and they re-engage instead xD I have gotten myself killed for trying to help so many times as a support lol
almost every time i am playing warrior i am taking heavy hits for my teammates and try to let them retreat with only me that dies but nope there is always that 1 guy that goes back thinking he can 1v4 them and then dies
my friend just sent me this video saying new players should be forced to watch this. I just subbed to you because of this quality video.
"When you die, take a moment to reflect on what mistakes you made"
Answer: I trusted my idiot teammates.
I don't know why, but i love this guy's voice!
can all sylvanas turn back the doubloons/gems pls?
John Havering can all Sylvanas use banshees for escape instead for dmg? Can all Sylvanas stop piking mind control and try the other ult too? Can all Sylvanas stop trying to waste 15 mins on a camp when they are under lvl 13??
ps: forgot to say dying with murky is very bad in case you die a lot for butcher, hell fedd on u and unleash hell on the whole team sooner.
is there an in game tool to see enemy player abilities?
hooshangmaster Not while actually in game but you can learn them in the hero pick screen by selecting them and going to the abilities tab. You can however see what talents they picked by bringing up the score board and clicking on shows talents, it can show you what an enemy is building his/her hero as.
Wow, didnt know you are doing HOTS videos as well now
I played uther few days ago in the dragon shrine I sacrificed myself to save my teammate but I think that was a good idea because when uther is dead he can heal so much faster and rest of my team came for help so in the end we were able to trade 1 for 5 and we got dragon knight
I really wish people learn from this, but it seems like most players dont bother even looking up guides or tips like this. So yea wishfull thinking.
Thanks!
I need to get better at this game, you have guides for this game, subbed
The section about supports dropping heals to help someone get away was brilliant.
thank you for this video, I've learned a couple things and hopefully others have to
this is a great guide for noobs, and still aplicable today, but when you get into higher MMR you will need to learn to pick heroes that can solo, and force multiply with the team. I have more of the mentality to never take a team fight you don't need if it is not in your teams favor.
I am lvl 20 on Illidan (not my main) . For me he seems pretty easy to play, but I have to say, the Illidan from 2014 was harder than that from today...
The only thing I have to say is that sometimes, in team fights, even if your outnumbered, you can still win them.
